Summary: He thinks he ought to despise her, detest every fiber of her being for everything. Instead, he keeps a picture of her. /A series of drabbles about Newt and Leta Lestrange.

Warning(s): None, except maybe slight angst for later chapters

much ado about nothing

Leta may be a bit strange, but she's not blind. Nor naïve.

There are times when she notices it but pretends not to, deciding to act oblivious instead. She sees the way his eyes would light up whenever he talks to her about their shared interests, eyes light and giddy in a way which seems familiar when directed to his beloved mystical creatures but different when he has her rapt attention. She feels him fixing his gaze at her whenever he thinks she doesn't notice (she always does) and oh, there's that look of absolute longing and pining which almost makes her pity him.

Sometimes it's not nearly as obvious, but other times, it's clear as day. Times when she touches his arm to help him guide her, times when she wore something showing too much of her exposed collarbone and he'd shift his gaze somewhere else, blush intact on his face, before looking up at her again, his affection for her shining in those clear blue eyes of his-these are the times when it's so painfully obvious.

Newt Scamander may be an odd, awkward, bumbling (and endearing) mess of a boy, but he was still a boy nonetheless.

She doesn't know what to do with such care and affection and fondness placed on her. She doesn't know any better, so she doesn't do anything about it.

(A little after a while, she thinks, doing nothing might've been worse than doing anything at all.)

NOTES: Watched Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them exactly a week ago, and this is my way of coping with my excitement for the sequel. Ugh, my heart.

Also, Leta Lestrange. LETA LESTRANGE. I know Newt and Tina are endgame, but I still can't get over my love for this mystery character and what awaits her in the future sequels of the movie. Like, give me her backstory and relationship with Newt Scamander. Give me the complicated angst. Give me give me give me-

Anyway, thanks for reading. Review!
