"I don't know why we've never done this before. This is so much fun," Ginny said as she carefully tapped her wand on Hermione's hair making it sleeker.
"Well, had a lot of things going on," Hermione replied casually as she popped another piece of popcorn her eyes locked on the television screen.
Hermione had invited Ginny for a sleepover before school starts, which both girls were quite excited about since neither experienced one. Ginny showed up in the Granger's fireplace after lunch and had tea with Hermione's parents before they went up to Hermione's room. Hermione had all the things prepared for night. She had rented out Muggle movies and laid a desk full of make-up and Muggle magazines. Mrs. Granger also prepared them snacks for the night. She was excited as Hermione of having Ginny over.
"I think I quite like Muggle movies better than what we have." Ginny commented.
"I agree. Whenever we go back at Hogwarts this is one of the few things I truly miss. I love movies so much especially when it's about something fantastical. It's utterly amusing how Muggles perceive magic. I pity them sometimes for completely being oblivious to something so wonderful."
"Yeah, but there's a reason for all the secrecy. It's written all over history but enough of that. Can we have one of those scary ones next?" Ginny asked pointing out some horror films.
Hermione gave an inward sigh. She wasn't fond of horror or thriller films but Ginny seemed to love them. She chose the movie "It" which they were watching now. "Alright. But can we move on to some holiday spirited movies after?"
"You're not scared are you?" Ginny teased.
"Ha! After everything we've seen I think I'm good."
"True. All right sure but none of the weird elves about with Father Christmas. They're creepy as it is in real life."
"You bet," Hermione replied with a giggle.
"So when are you going to spill me the beans with what happened with Harry?" Hermione finally asked, as she was putting on gold varnish on Ginny's fingernails while a Christmas special was playing on the telly.
"About time! I thought you'd never ask," Ginny replied.
"I think this was the point of the sleepover."
"I thought it was for a much needed female company?"
"Yes, that too. C'mon tell me!"
Ginny animatedly filled in her friend with the previous Christmas morning with Harry. She didn't leave any details out but that didn't prevent Hermione from asking the tiniest of questions. Hermione as well as the rest had complimented the beautiful necklace that was once Mrs. Potter's. Half of the Weasleys who knew about Ginny and Harry's relationship were pleased as well but the other half who didn't know about them were a bit shocked but were quiet about it.
"I don't think it's anyone's business who I date but I think the family's okay with it," Ginny sad a bit hopeful.
"Well, better Harry than anyone right?" Hermione quoted Ron. "He's basically family. I think that makes it easier for the rest of them to accept that you two are in a relationship."
"I guess so. I don't think anyone took it badly. Not even dad. But you know what would be really bad? The possibility that we might break up and if that happens again everyone will know," Ginny said anxiously.
"Well, yes that would be bad. But you two never promised anything to each other. You just poured out your feelings for each other and I think that's more than good enough now," Hermione said rationally. "Ginny, maybe just focus on what you have now. Don't think too much of what's going to happen next or what could possibly be the bad things that are going to happen."
"You're right but I just can't help it sometimes, you know?"
"I know. And I also know Harry would never do anything to hurt you."
"Unless it means it's for my safety. I think he would. But I've long accepted that."
"He does love you as much as you love him. And you know how he is when he cares for someone. It's just so him to be the hero."
"Yeah, he'd die for us." Ginny gave a sniff and immediately Hermione threw on arm around the younger girl's shoulders.
"Oh, Ginny! I didn't mean to upset you."
"You didn't. I can't help but think of it sometimes. If even hunts me when I'm sleeping. Oh god, this is stupid," Ginny said as she was wiping off her tears with her sleeves.
"No, it's not. It just shows that your feelings are real. There's every reason to be scared but never to be embarrassed about," Hermione said holding her friend closer.
"You're right." Ginny gave a long sigh and looked over her friend. "You know something else Hermione? You're like the big sister I never had. Whatever happens between you and Ron, which I think are all good things, we're going to stay friends okay?"
It was Hermione's turn to shed a few tears. She hugged the redheaded close. "Of course. Sisters before misters."
"Yeah, whatever that means," Ginny replied hugging the girl back. "And Hermione?"
"Yes?"
"Do you think you can redo my nails? I think all this hugging ruined it." Ginny added smartly.
"Of course. Nothing but a few spells will do the trick."
