Chapter 14

Here we are with the next chapter of Legends; I don't have much to say except POKÉMON BANK IS FINALLY OUT! Don't judge me I have been waiting for it and that's why this is posted later than I had originally intended it to be. On with the chapter. Warning, it will have flash backs in italics and is going to be longer because of the flash backs.

Normal POV

The group had arrived at the gym and trained for an hour until they were told to head home by Norman. The teens did as instructed, having Max join them in the walk home. The night was clear with sun beginning to set earlier since it was mid-October. The teens walked discussing tactics they could use for battle and what Dawn had suggested, to do combination moves. Before long they had arrived back at the Maple residence and went down to the basement after saying hi to Caroline.

The maples had changed the basement into an area for the Dragon Soul to stay, May had decided that they could store some things in her bedroom and she would stay down with her teammates since it was only fair; even after the group insisted that she sleep in her own bedroom. The basement was finished and painted with a light beige tone. The stairs were located at the very end of the rectangular shape of room. When walking downstairs there is a sitting area with low wooden frames with cushions made from futons, which the teens slept on, a coffee table was centered between the two chairs and the couch. A TV was placed on the other side of the coffee table parallel with the couch. Continuing down the room there was a pool table and bar area. Then finally at the end there was a bunk bed place in both of the two corners. The framing being made of a stainless steel with no apparent ladder on either of the bed frames, instead the framing between the two bunks was used to climb up. A door was in the center of the two bunk beds leading to the bathroom that they all shared consisting of toilet, sink, bath tub and shower. As well, the Maples had added a dirty laundry hamper so there wouldn't be clothes everywhere in the basement. In the main area they had also added seven small dressers for the teen to store the few clothes they had in.

May had flopped down on a bean bag chair that she had brought down from her bedroom to sit on while the other girls sat down on the couch. Ash and Drew sat on the other two spaces available being the chairs while Paul and Gary decided to start a game of pool. "Alright," Dawn started up a new conversation by grabbing attention of everyone by clapping her hands a couple times. "Since we are all together now and we haven't been together all that long, I think we should get to know one another better. It could help with our team work; we could learn each other's strengths and weaknesses."

"I know enough about you, you're troublesome." Paul stated before hitting the cue ball with his cue a sinking a few balls into the corner pocket.

"That's not enough, and I am not troublesome. I state my opinion and don't let others put me down. If you knew me then you would understand why." Dawn replied in a matter-of-fact tone with her arms crossed.

"I think she's right about this one, we could tell how we discovered our powers. Since we haven't really learned that yet and it could help to understand about each other's powers and overall strength." Misty said, agreeing with Dawn's idea.

"Alright if we're going to doing that, who's going to go first?" Drew asked.

"I'll get mine over with. Drew and Dawn have already heard it but the rest of you haven't yet." Misty said, before scooting backwards to get comfortable in her seat. Once comfortable she began to tell the story of how she discovered her powers and began to control them.

"That's pretty cool, but I think mine's much better." Gary pointed out after finishing his game of pool with Paul and putting the cue away with the other ones. He went to sit on the floor in between Leaf and Drew. "It was the winter of first grade; we were in the middle of a horrible snowstorm..."

"Mrs. Albert, when can we go home?" a young boy, the age of six asked as he tugged the hem of his teacher's dress. His hair a light brown colour spiked up in multiple directions. He wore a pair of blue jeans and a gray t-shirt with a snowflake printed on the front.

His teacher looked down at the boy, taking her attention away from the fierce snowstorm that was going on outside. It was peaceful calm weather that morning, then around mid-day a freak blizzard hit, casing the kids not to be able to leave the school. "Not until the snow stops Gary. The principle said that it is too dangerous to go out now."

"But my grandpa will be worried about me if I don't go home. And my big sister. What about my big sister?" He continued to hold onto the dress, tears beginning to brew within his large brown eyes.

"We have told him and Daisy is in her class room, she is safe there. There is no need to worry."

"But Mrs. Albert I miss my grandpa...I want to see him." Gary continued with the tears now flowing from his eyes.

"HA, Gary is crying, he's a baby!" Another boy called from the carpet placed in the room. the boy pointed at Gary, who now began to have the tears flow faster and wiped them away trying to get rid of them.

"Marcus! That is not nice, go to the time out corner." Mrs. Albert said sternly before watching the boy, Marcus, drop his head and go into the 'time-out' corner. She crouched down to Gary and wiped the tears away with a handkerchief she pulled from the pocket of the sweater she wore over her dress. "Gary you seem very cold, why don't you go to the office and ask them for some hot chocolate." Mrs. Albert quickly went to her desk and wrote something down before tearing a paper from a notepad. She handed Gary the paper before telling him to show it to the secretaries at the office.

Gary followed her orders even though he felt normal, he didn't feel warm or cold but just as he usually did. He arrived at the office and peered over the counter sliding the note to the secretary that was sitting there. She smiled at the boy before getting him some hot chocolate to warm up his small body. Soon after returning she took it over to the small table next to some chairs in the office, placing the cup of hot liquid on it. She told Gary to be careful and that it was hot and to wait for it to cool for a little bit. So he did just that.

Multiple times he tried to take sips of it but to no avail; it was too hot for him to drink. "Sweetie, it's been an hour, your drink is freezing by now," listening to the secretary, Gary took another small sip, deciding that it was finally a good temperature to chug down. He handed her the empty cup and said thank you before heading back to his class room.

By this time the snow had halted and it was finally safe for the kids to leave school. Gary walked with his sister Daisy home, holding her hand the whole journey. "Gary, why aren't you wearing your mittens? You'll get frost bite, and then what will you do?" Daisy asked gripping her brother's hand tighter.

"But big sister, I not cold. I feel like I melting in all of this. Am I a snowman?" Gary asked looking at his big sister with question in his face. This caused her to let out a small giggle before continuing the walk home.

That night, Gary's grandpa tucked him into his bed. "Gary why is it so cold in here?"

"I opened up the window. I was hot, so I took the chair to open the window so I could be comfy. I not cold anymore. I comfy now."

"but Gary it is freezing in here, if it stay's like this you'll get sick. I'm closing the window." His grandfather said as he headed towards the opened window.

"No! if you do then I will melt, I don't want to melt." Gary shouted at his grandpa. "I think I'm a snowman, I couldn't even touch hot cocoa at school. It burned my hands. See?" Gary raised his hands up, showing the burns that had taken place on his hands from picking up the cup of hot chocolate.

"I see," he grandpa said. He would have to research this a bit, being a well-known biology professor, he knew of many times where someone would feel hot and need to cool down, but not someone so young. And the sensitivity to heat on the skin as well, was surely suspicious too.

"And so, we settled on the Dragon Souls legend. That was the only thing that made any sense, even though it was barley at all. Turns out my gramps was right and I can control ice and snow." Gary said, leaning back on his hands. "But that's also why my sister and I don't speak much anymore. Her friends thought I was a freak because I couldn't touch anything hot and wore shorts and tees in the middle of winter. I'm kind of used to that now though, the weird looks and all."

"Sorry for that man," Drew said, patting Gary's back in reassurance. "My turn I guess. I feel I'm the only one that didn't learn about it at a really young age..."

The summer was hot, sun shining down on the small town below. Not a cloud was in sight, so there would be no rain. "Drew sweetie," a short woman with long black hair knocked on the door of her twelve year old son's bedroom. "Why don't you go out with your friends, I'm sure that they are just as bored as you are." The woman, Janet Hayden, leaned against the white door, waiting for the response from her son.

"I can't now. I need to figure out how to do this algebra question and then I have all these books to look over for my research report. Plus no one wants to hang out with the new kid, especially when he keeps causing papers to fly everywhere by just walking past." The boy responded, leaning on his elbows that were placed on his desk, his hands placed in his green locks, glued to the paper that lay in front of him on his desk.

"Sweetie, you're exaggerating, they don't go flying." His mother responded back.

"Yes they do, I caused some guy's hat to fly off as well, just from raising my hand to answer a question."

"So you just hit it?"

"I sit three rows behind him mom. I don't get how. Just watch this." With a flick of his wrist, making a swatting motion all the papers and books on Drew's desk went flying into the wall. "See? I don't do anything and that's what happens."

"Well, then I'm sure there is a logical reason. Just look through some of the books yo have. We got you a ton, your bookshelf is overflowing." Janet gestured towards the black bookcase that went from floor to ceiling and was at least five feet wide.

"One step ahead of you." Drew stood up from his chair causing it to fall backwards. "There is this one book that I read," he scanned the bookshelf looking for his book. After not finding it on the bottom shelf he made his way upwards to the top shelf of the book case to find it placed up top. Once found he showed it to his mom, who didn't even look at the book she was just handed, instead just stared at her son.

"Drew, we're taking you to the hospital. Right now. Johnathon, get the keys!" Janet grabbed her son and began pulling him out his bedroom with the book in hand.

"Mom, why? I don't feel sick or anything; I just want you to look at this page." Drew said being pulled by the back of his shirt as he sat on the ground, flipping through his book.

"Drew, you got that book from the top shelf, without a stool or ladder and you can't even reach that shelf. You were just floating there in mid-air!" Janet screamed as her husband came to them with the keys to their car.

"Really?...Sweet. Now look at this." Drew said, pushing the book into his parents faces. He pointed to the picture which held eight dragons of different colours and on the other page began to describe the great dragons.

"So ya. Me being a nerd pretty much explained to me what was going on; it's weird though because I didn't even start experiencing any problems until after I read the book."

"I feel like mine is really lame now. I was just playing with a fork and knife and sticking them into the electrical sockets when I got electrocuted really badly. The hospital said I shouldn't have lived through it but I managed to and then it happened more times so eventually we started drawing to that conclusion." Ash said as he crossed his arms and leaned back in his chair with a pout on his face.

"Wow even as a toddler you were stupid." Leaf said under her breath, but it wasn't quiet enough since everyone still heard.

"I wasn't a toddler when it happened, I was ten." Everyone then face palmed at the stupidity of their teammate.

"Paul what about you?" Dawn asked before turning to see that Paul wasn't standing where he had been a couple minutes ago. "Paul, come out from the shadows." With that, Paul stepped out of the shadow on the wall appearing beside the couch causing Leaf to jump when he walked beside her suddenly.

"My brother kept coming to check on me in the middle of the night and could find me. He thought I was sneaking out so he watched me for the night to have the same outcome. When her turned the lights on and let his eyes adjust, he noticed I hadn't moved from my bed." Paul explained his story before taking a seat between Dawn and Ash on the floor.

"Wow, very detailed." May stated, unamused by the storytelling of the Death Soul. "My turn!" May began to explain the story of discovering her abilities leaving her friends in shock, having them question that her and Brendan were best friends at one point. "And that's it. That's when I set out to Mount Chimney then met all of you."

"So what you're telling me. That bastard we had the run in with today, and you...used to be best friends?" Drew looked at May with his mouth a gapped, just like each of the others. May nodded her head and was just about to speak when a call from upstairs.

"Kids! Dinner is ready, hurry or it will be cold!" Caroline called from upstairs, may called back saying that they were coming before they all headed up to the dining room for dinner.

The teens sat down and joined the Maples for dinner like they had every night since they arrived. They were asked about how the school day was, getting scolded for using their powers when they were supposed to. They talked about their classes and teachers, discussing how they were and what they hated about the teachers that nagged on their first day.

Once finished with dinner the teens were cleaning up the kitchen when the doorbell rang, Norman said he would get it, allowing the group to finish with the dishes. "Hello, can I help you?" Norman asked after not recognizing the two people at the door.

"Ya, we're looking for a group of eight teens with these really cool powers," Norman looked at the girl before looking at the boy next to her, who was out of breath and hunched over trying to catch his breath. "Don't mind him, we just ran from one of your neighbors dogs. It was not the friendliest thing around."

"Might I ask what you need them for?" Norman asked; he wanted to be sure who he was dealing with before letting them in his house.

The girl held up a card to his face letting Norman get a good view to read it.
- Hilda White – Dragon child of the Ice Dragon – Dragon Soul teacher/trainer – Next to the writing there was a picture of the girl. Just as Norman handed the card back the male next to Hilda handed him a card.
- Hilbert Black – Dragon Child of the Fire Dragon – Dragon Soul teacher/trainer – Norman then handed back his card as well before invited the two teen into the house.

"Hey dad, we're done with the dishes and we're going to head back downstairs." May said popping her head out from around the corner.

"Wait May, you have guests, take them with you to introduce themselves." May gave her father a questioning look but agreed anyways and told the two to follow her to the basement.

The three reached the basement and May took a seat in her beanbag chair so that Hilda and Hilbert could introduce themselves to the group. "Hola! So I know you are thinking 'who the hell did you bring down here May?' so I shall explain. I'm Hilda White; this is my boyfriend and partner Hilbert Black." Hilda said placing her hands on her hips.

"We could give you a very long explanation to as why we're here, but I won rock-paper-scissors so I'm not going to. We were sent here by the council of Dragons." This gained everyone's interest instantly. "I'm the son of the fire dragon and Hilda is the daughter of the ice dragon. We were sent here so that you could master your powers since we know what you are capable of and what will happen as you get stronger." Hilbert explained to the Souls who all now followed why they were here.

"Wait, isn't that just like us reading the book that Dawn carries around, since she combined all of our books as one?" Gary asked, pointing towards the bluenette in the room.

"Well, yes. Dawn why don't you summon that book of yours," Hilda said with a smirk on her face. Listening to the girl standing in front of her, Dawn called upon her book that had all the information they needed about the legend and about their powers, although this time she couldn't make it appear. Before Dawn could speak Hilda continued to speak. "That's right you can't. We are kinda the reason too. You see remember when you all met a last and then all your marks started glowing?" the group nodded.

"Ya, that set us off to find you because we had to have you all together so that we could train you together. So it way kind of like an alarm for us in a way, because we are the book." Hilbert explained Hilda's question. "It was an inanimate for of us as well as the other dragon children, although they are all too young to be here as well, to communicate and help you along your journey with any questions you had."

"When all of you met up we went to the location you were at when the marks began glowing. But by the time we got there, you were all gone. Leaving us to go and find you." Hilda sat down on the floor next to Dawn, Hilbert followed but sitting down next to Leaf.

"Now that we finally have; we can begin training with you whenever it is needed and you call on us." Hilbert continued explaining. "And before you ask how, we put a charm on all the pendants you have on. Just charge it with a little power and we'll come back from the Dragon Realm."

"Hold on just a minute." Gary said as he stood up from the ground where he was seated. "You mean to tell me that there is some other realm to this world that is full of dragons, and you are humans that are the children of dragons." He pointed to Hilda. "And you are the child of my dragon. Can you tell me what she meant by not yet ready?"

"Oh that, ya you're not ready for your full powers because you need to work on some basic skills still." Hilda said. "And yes there is another one, pretty cool actually. We get our dragon forms once this time has passed and you are all saviors and crap."

"Well, that's cool...I think..." Dawn stated as she looked around the room that was silent now since everyone was in shock from the new news that was just told to them. "Hey do you think that," Dawn asked as she turned to Hilda, stopping her sentence when she noticed she was not there. Looking at the floor Dawn picked up a note from the ground. "Sorry for us leaving so suddenly we were being called back for a briefing, call upon us tomorrow and we can talk so more – Hilda. Well I guess that means that it's time for my story!"

I'm going to end it there since this is I think the longest chapter yet and I don't feel like having to write like five chapters in one and postponing the date this gets uploaded.

So how was that plot twist for you? I don't think anyone was expecting that at all Dawn and Leaf's Story should both be in the next chapter or two so don't worry you will get them, they are just a little more detailed than the ones I gave I this chapter. So don't worry about those you will get them soon.

I'm going to go and watch an anime that my friends keep yelling at me to watch. Any of you watched Dangan Ronpa? If so was it any good?

Anyways Review! I really want to respond to them but I don't feel like others that don't review want to look through the entire author's note just to find the story because I put responses in it. So I will most likely respond to them through PM.

Alright, Quilavamaster signing off.
