Legends 30
One weeks time had past wince the death of Yumi and Eclipse, the dark aura of guilt washed over both Gary and Dawn. Drew was still sore from the attack to the side though he was all fixed up with the healing Dawn did. The only remaining evidence of the battle was the large scar that was on his side, as well as the one that went down Ash's back.
Once the trio of Ash, Dawn, and Paul had arrived onto the scene of the air and fire soul's battle, Dawn immediately tended to Drew and then May. While she was busy with that Ash and Paul stood guard, watching over the healer and their injured companions.
"You don't have thoughts either," Ash and Paul looked at one another before quickly turning to the voice. Eclipse stood hunched, her feet staggered. Dark hair covering her face though not hiding the snarling mouth. "What have you done with them!" with a flash, Eclipse strode forwards slashing at Ash with flames on her hands. He countered all her movements with his forearms, soon charging them with electricity.
"Get bacj Ash," Paul's voice warned him. The Soul did as told and flashed himself away like a bilt of lightning. Moments after, a large blade swiped itself next to Eclipse, holding her still as she could move without injuring herself. The blade of Paul's scythe wrapped around her back and right side, the shaft of the blade to her left and in front stood Paul with a large ball of a dark aura in his left hand. One movement and Eclipse would be dead. "Stand down, admit your defeat and you can continue living your pathetic life."
She laughed at his words, lifting her head to reveal an insane look before a large amount of electricity was bolted Paul's direction. The Shadow soul jumped to avoid the attack, the blade of his scythe missing the cut as she moved forwards, the her hair was now cut short and uneven. A whip of darkness flew towards her as Paul stood mid air on the sharp blade of his weapon. The attack dispersed itself before she let her own arm fly of to create a similar whip headed straight for Ash who was moving Drew out of the way of the battle.
The attack caused a piercing scream as it landed creating a large gash that instantly began to bleed out as the darkness ate away at more of the skin. Ash fell forward as well as The green haird boy he was moving, though they were caught by Dawn's telekinesis. She needed to act now on Ash's wound but Paul needed a hand in the fight. His scythe was an attack method he hand learned well but it wasn't doing anything to the girl as long as she could see him. The words that Leaf told her had echoed in her head 'this truly is a war of bloodshed and death'. She had to choose. She needed to play her part in the war. It was a very simple choice.
Lifting her hand the staff she fought with appeared in a new form. It was the same as before only now had a spear like head to it. With a deep breath she watch for her moment. Paul fought diligently now in hand to hand combat as his scythe had been knock out of his hands, he wasn't using his powers in fear of another one being used against his comrades. She heard him in her thoughts, urging her to leave him be and help Ash before it was too late, something inside of her just couldn't let that happen though. She needed to keep him safe, for a reason she couldn't quite comprehend. But it was there and she would do that. Jumping into the air, she twirled the staff in hand before aiming herself at the dark haired girl. And in one quick motion she flew downwards, thrusting the spear down through the bone that made Eclipse's skull.
The blood seeped out through the cracked open bone. Dawn pulled her weapon quickly with one strong tug causing the red liquid to splatter over her ivory face. No emotion showed on her face, without a word she began to stumble towards Ash, dropping her spear to the ground. Dropping down to her knees she let the energy flow through her body with a cold feeling as the gash that marked Ash's back began to close.
The light in Dawn's eyes had yet to return, though the others tried to ignore that she was slightly off her usual self. Gary did his best to help the group rebuild bits of towns and cities as the people needed to get back to their normal lives.
They had no sign of the remaining two dark army leaders other than a few hordes of different soldiers attacking towns they weren't near. Though they had Paul, Drew, and Ash head over there to battle as they were the fastest at travelling. When Leaf had heard about Fortree being under attack she shed tears demanding to go help but the trio was gone too soon. The same thing happened with Misty and Gary worrying about the family that was still at home.
Night was upon the sky and the Souls were asked to stay at the town's hotel for the night to get a proper rest after fighting for about a month. Without actual words from any mouths May agreed to the offer of the woman before her. The pearl coloured hair shined under the moonlight, black highlights and undertones could be seen easily against the light natural hair. Her eyes were a stunning shade of green that contained hazel accents as well.
She told them she was at a local camp while hiking through the region with her husband though they lost track of one another not ling after running into a horde of the terrifying beasts. The group felt bad for her, finding her story to be quiet touching. Introducing the Souls to a fee others that were at the camp, who were now placed in the hotel to stay until the war was finally over, they all had a sad story to tell.
The woman lead them to the room they were able to stay in for the night, her shoulder length hair swaying slightly with her tall, slender framing. She was a kind girl, May told her they would try to find her husband for her and tears formed in her eyes. She told them her name was Riko and that her husband's name was Conner.
Not long after a shirt embrace between the woman and leader of the Souls, Riko went to prepare them a meal, leaving the Souls in their room. "I'm going to go on lookout after the food, the rest of you rest up." Mays voice sounded through the silence of the room.
"May you need somebody with you for that." Dawn retorted with her voice in a whisper.
Drew stood for the bed that he was sitting on, making his way towards May. Stopping beside her on her left he turned to the others in the room. "I'll go with her."
"No." the stern tone in May's voice meant business. "You are healing still. Ash, Gary, and Dawn will also not accompany me."
"I'm just fine fire brains." Gary said adjusting his coat by shrugging his shoulders.
Leaf sat him down on the bed explaining that he needed time for himself at the moment, that he wasn't going to go out there by without her watching for any signs of PTSD. Despite his cries she managed to get him to calm down after a little yelling.
"Misty." Said girl raised her head up focusing on the leader. "You and I will take first watch. Half way through the night we switch with Paul and Leaf." With an agreemeng the group began to relax aa they waitied for Riko to return with their meal.
Once the knock on the door was heard, Dawn unlocked it swinging it open the look at the woman that they had been waiting for. She came accompanied by a couple of metal carts with eight plates filled with food. "I wasn't too sire how hungry you all were so I made a bunch." Giving each Soul a plate and the utensils needed she bid them farewell and a good night before heading back down the hallway.
May closed up the door to see the plates all lined up on the coffee table in the center on the room. Dawn was kneeling on the carpeted floor next to it hands above the food glowing a whitish colour. "what are you doing?"
"Making sure there is nothing wrong with it. I'm not taking any chances." May shook her head slightly at the action but placed her plate along with the others. Dawn had a fair point, after the encounter with Elcipse in one of the safe camps May had told them to not truat anyone but themselves from here on out. It wasn't exactly the way she wanted to do things, but if it were to save anyone else from getting injured like Drew than it has to be that way.
Dawn finished clearing their food of any toxins, if there even wasn't any, and the group scoffed down the meal quickly. It had been too long since they had a proper home cooked meal, May looked down at her plate only a few peas remaining with the scraps of mashed potatoes and the juices from the beef. "How long until I can have this every night again?" she let out a small sigh filled with wonder because using her knife to block the peas from rolling away further before scooping them up with her fork.
With the last bite of food gone she collected a few plates stacking the utensils on top of her empty plate and placing the other plates beneath it. She sat down and join the small chat about sleeping arrangements while awaiting Misty to be finished with her food. Once the red head was finished she placed her plate into the stack and was ready to head to the roof with May. Biding the farewells for the next few hours, until Paul and Leaf replaced them, the pair began to sneak tjeir way up to the top of the building.
Once arrived, May lit a small fore in her hand so that they could see in the dark if the night's sky. It was peaceful compared to other times, the feint sounds of crickets could be heard along with a few wolf howls every now and again. Sitting with their legs dangling over the edge, as if either fell they could catch themselves with their element before hitting the ground. "So what were you thinking about that caused you to let out such a sigh earlier?" the curious but sassy tone of Misty broke the natural silence between her and the brunette that sat next to her.
May let a small smile appear on her face, these people knew her too well after all this time spent together; nothing was a secret any more. Tossing her head backwards to look at the brightly shining stars that appeared above the city for once as the electricity hadn't been fixed properly yet so inly a few buildings had power. "I'll answer that question with a question." This peaked the ginger's attention, " what are you going to do once all this is over? I've known that I would need to do this fight for it for about six months. I mean I knew I had this power for ten years and figured it would be used for something, but my parents, they've been training my for these ten years in their own way." May looked at the girl beside her now. "its just, what happens after all of this is over? I don't think I can just go back to living a normal life after all this."
Misty smiled at the pondering May before looking out to the city that had a few illuminations throughout it. "I haven't really thought about it. Im more of the live life like you'll die tomorrow kind of person. Not extreme at it but I like to be bold, try new things; I'll probably just figure it out as I go along."
"I think that the first thing I'll do is go home to my family." May stated calmly. She followed Misty's lead and looked over the city. "After that, who knows?"
A little break from fighting to settle the mood down. And I really wanted to include this little chat about what happens after all of this fighting is over with.
