Legends 31
His heart pulsed rapidly within his chest, letting the oxygen reach the muscles throughout his body. Her scream piercing his eardrums. How had it ever managed to get to this point? The others were all separated from the two, nowhere even close to his current location as he was unable to sense their presence. His only way to contact them had lost all hope the moment she let her spear fall to the dirt below her.
Pinned up against a nearby building, claws slashed away at her body;tearing the once white fabric as well as her flesh. Her hair was tattered and chopped sloppily due to the current battle; was now shorter than his own. The blue locks stuck to her forehead, her sweat, tears, and blood all acting as glue.
The herd of beasts wouldn't stop coming. He had to fight them rather than rescue the girl that he had become so close to. So he readied his scythe, letting the power from his body flow into it. As he prepared to charge the heard a sinister cackle began to reach his ears.
"So we meet again," a masculine voice was heard through the air like a loud speaker. As if all things froze in that moment the voice uttered, one last spine chilling word. "Paul."
"Paul." Jumping forward into the mess of soft blue strings, he breathed heavily. Gasping for the air to reach his lungs as if he had been deprived of it for minutes. "Are you okay?" her voice calmed him, not even able to see her face, just hearing the soft voice allowed him to be less tense. How it had come to this, he had still yet to understand, but it had and he was still trying to figure it out. "Do you need some water? I'll go get you a glass." he heard her shuffle a bit, her hair grazing against his forearm.
Sitting there confused at what happened he pushed his bangs back, the sweat from his forehead causing them to stay pushed back slightly, a few stands falling back to his paled face. Blinking a few times allowed his to see for the first time since his eyes had opened. Taking in the surrounding area, he figured that the hotel room was still their location and he was seated on the couch. That explained his aching back and neck. The cushions beside him had moved slightly, attacarting his attention back to Dawn. She had returned, offering him a glass the seemed to be half empty, but the other half containing the water she left moment before to get.
"Drink." It wasn't necessarily a suggestion, it came off as more of a command. He wasn't going to object to the girl though; everyone that had pissed her off as of late has ended up with a spear through them.
Taking the glass and chugging back the water, he gave her a small nod as a thank you before placing the empty glass on the coffee table in front of the two. "Night terror." her voice caught his attention again, looking at her with confusion in his eyes. "That's what just happened. I used to get them all the time." She paused, suddenly the imaginary dirt under her fingernails becoming more interesting than him. "After the whole week of torture thing. I suffered from a lot actually. Night terrors, P.T.S.D., insomnia; which went just great with the fact that my sleep was already terrible. I wouldn't eat for days, once I did all it would be was a piece of toast or something, then back to nothing yet again." Her face looked back to him again, tears welling in her sapphire eyes.
Paul opened his mouth to speak though he stopped himself as she placed her hands together. Forming a small white orb within palms, then letting it flutter in the air motioning for him to look at it.
A picture.
She looked to be seven or eight years old. Behind her was a man and a woman, the woman looking to be an older version of Dawn herself. Paul assumed this to be some sort of family portrait, though Dawn looked emotionless here. Her eyes were dull, dark circles surrounding them. Her hair looked tattered and was cut uneven, as though she taken scissors to it herself. This wasn't the Dawn he knew so well, it was an entirely different person.
"Hilda taught me to do this. After Gary being shown pictures through the mind, I thought I would try something as well. It's quite simple actually." her voice began to carry on though PAul was unable to focus on that. Doing what she had done, he formed a small black orb in his hands focusing on the family portrait that sat upon the fireplace mantel back at his home. Allowing the black sphere to sit next to Dawn's white one was somewhat amusing seeing the two opposites now both containing a photo.
Dawn let out a small squeal, her eyes had lit up and he could see her struggle not to grab the floating sphere containing the photo of nine year old Paul. "Oh my god, is that one you?" she pointed at the small boy being held by and older looking boy, both of which being hugged by a woman with the same violet hair as the boys. Here eyes were shut tight with a large grin on her face. Paul nodded to Dawn's question, causing her to squeal quietly yet again. "You are so adorable! I just want to squish your face!" she lifted her hands to him, though they were soon pushed down by Paul's much larger ones. "So that's your brother and your mom?"
"Ya."
"She's beautiful you know."
"One of the best women I have ever met as well."
"Well aren't you a momma's boy." Dawn's lips curved into a smirk as the lavender haired male put on his best scowl. "But seriously though, I want a little minI Paul." Again, her voice was much more demanding than anything else.
"Well that's gonna take some work on both your parts then." both heads snapped to the new voice in the living room area. Gary had emerged from the bedroom he was in, Leaf following in suit. "Leaf and big Paul here have to take over shifts in an hour. Leaf woke up and can't sleep again so she was going to go relive one of the girls." the auburn haired boy explained their sudden presence.
"I won't be able to sleep again either, so ill head up too." Paul said, standing from his spot on the couch. Dusting off his pants he grasps to orb he had let float mid air, compressing it and tossing it to Dawn. "Keep it if you can." For the first time he had seen her face, which was flushed he may add, since the other two had interrupted their conversation.
"Do you know when the sun is supposed to rise today?" Leaf's voice questioned groggily, still waking up from her slumber before hand. She had walked over to the large window, taking a look outside.
"Not for a couple of hours yet. Why do you ask?" Dawn replied, asking a question in rebuttal.
"Because it seems brighter than it did a couple of hours ago." with her words spoken, Paul and Gary looked at one another before rushing towards the pane of glass. Launching a small ball of power to damage it slightly before smashing the rest of the way through it. As they had began to fall, causing both Leaf and Dawn sudden panic, a flash of light dropped past the window like a comet. Paul had caught the object while Gary created a pillar of ice for the both of them, raising them back to the window the had just crashed through,
"Heal her." Paul's voice ordered, handing May's limp body to Leaf and Dawn. They continued their way to the roof leaving Dawn with the unconscious May. Leaf summoned a large platform, following the boys to aid Misty.
"You can't win against me!" a woman's voice was heard but the owner was not present. A sudden blade flashed at the feet of the trio.
"Find Misty! Get her back to Dawn." Paul shouted, taking the lead of battle. Gary already had his sword in hand and Leaf her battle axe. Following their idea he let the scythe form grasping it with his hands.
Staying alert, the small group separated on the roof top. Leaf dodged another blade that shot down from nothing in the night sky. The next hit against her axe, disappearing quickly it the blackness. It reminded her of the first battle she had with Paul, illusions of shadows. "The blades are fake! Shadows like Paul!" she screamed out the newly learned information praying the two boys would hear it.
She continued running, now jumping to another rooftop in search of her water loving friend. "Misty!" she called hoping that the ginger would hear her and come running. "Where the fuck are you?" mumbling to herself in pure question.
The rain began pelting against the ground, though it appeared suddenly, a storm was brewing. Lighting struck through the air next to Gary's running body. The static flowing on the roof beside him, lighting the lanterns that hund off the wall of a nearby building below.
Gary knew this was the raven haired boy, he knew that Ash wanted to help find Misty. Staying in the bolt form, he could move with no problem and be immune to any attacks. The only downfall of this what that he couldn't actually attack in this form; so it was used as a high speed form of transport. "Leaf and Paul are out looking as well." Gary informed the string of static that followed each of his movements. "No signals of her except the rain. If she's in combat you call one of us. May will have your head if she finds out you came out here." once Gary nodded the spark was gone.
A figure appeared from the corner he was about to turn on, with a sudden need to stop he skidded to the halt. Raising his blade, the drops of water that hit his head stopped. "Um…" the figure raised its hands as if surrendering to the boy though he kept his sword ready. "Please don't attack, it's just me." the figure said shakily. He recognized it as the girl from earlier. "Some of the other guests were saying there was noise up here so I came to find what it was." continuing to hold his weapon ready he didn't flinch.
"Leave. It's not safe." he uttered the words in command.
"Would be able to escort me back then?"
"I'm finding my friend. Head back yourself." Riko looked pained, still not moving an inch.
"You mean the one that came in the entrance way? The girl with the orange hair?" looking at Riko again her hand pushing a bit of hair behind her ear. Something seemed off about that sentence, Misty would come straight back to the roof. She wouldn't just go to the main hall. But he had to try, there were three other outside searching.
Running to the edge of the building he jumped landing on another pillar of ice, leaving Riko there with a grin on her face.
I'm gonna end the chapter there. Kinda fluffy and stuff in the beginning but you know it can't stay that way so back to chaos it goes.
I'll update again in 2 weeks. So 18th of November. Most likely around 1 EST. Then I will drown into my 3ds because Sun and Moon release date.
