Chapter 8
"But you keep my old scarf from that very first week
'cause it reminds you of innocence and it smells like me.
You can't get rid of it 'cause you remember it all too well."
"Are you ready?" Niles called up the stairs, failing to hide the sour note of impatience in his voice.
"Don't get your panties in a bunch," C.C. growled as she stepped to the top of the stairs.
The comeback died on Niles' tongue the moment his eyes met hers. A tingle ran down from his chest to his toes. She wore a black form-fitting dress, black stockings, black ankle boots, and a long beige woolen coat. She wrapped a black silk scarf around her neck as she descended the stairs, a small pout shining on her glossed beige lips. Her sweet floral scent reached him before she did.
"You look lovely," he stammered.
It was a weak understatement. She looked beautiful. Gorgeous. Exquisite. His mind spun with the adjectives that could never have come close to describing the essence of beauty that encompassed her.
C.C. smiled sweetly at him and placed a soft, lingering kiss onto his lips.
"Mum and Dad... are in the car waiting for us."
It was more of a reminder for himself than it was a prompt for her.
"Then what are we waiting on?" she teased.
Niles swallowed hard as he watched her hips sway as she walked ahead of him. When C.C. reached the door, she turned back to him, a challenging smirk tugging at the corners of her lips. Her blue eyes were ablaze with sultry wickedness. As he approached her, she grabbed his arms and pulled him back against her so that her back was pressed against the wall and his body was against hers. C.C. kissed his neck and lips, nibbling the sensitive skin gently.
"We have to go," Niles thought to himself twice before he realized he hadn't managed to actually say it out loud.
Suddenly, C.C. stopped. She straightened her hair and clothes and used the pad of her thumb to wipe her lipgloss from Niles' neckline, mouth, and jaw. Again she flashed her wicked grin, her eyes sparkling brightly up at him.
"Hurry up, Niles. We don't want to keep your parents waiting," she deadpanned before slipping out the front door.
He gave a defeated sigh before he rushed to catch up to her.
"Niles," his mother called as he climbed into the car. "What were you doing to keep C.C. waiting so long?"
