As Edith an Michael sipped on tea Robert had no choice but to go over to the Dower House and see what his mother wanted.
"Lord Grantham, My Lady." announced Spratt.
"Thank you, Spratt." Said Violet Crawley. "
" Hello, Mama, how are you?" asked Robert.
" Never mind how I am doing, Robert. I demand to know why I heard such nonsence from Edith."
" What nonsence, Mama?" asked a beweildered Robert.
" You know, the nonsence about Cora being pregnant." said Violet.
" Oh, Mama, Cora is pregnant!" exclaimed Robert.
" She is pregnant? But she is forty five years old Robert!" exclaimed a very confused Violet.
" Yes, Mama, Cora pregnant." said a happy Robert.
" Well now that is settled ring for Sprat to bring us some tea." commanded Violet.
" Yes, Mother." obeyed Robert.
meanwhile at The Crawley House...
"Oh hello, Lady Mary." said Mosely.
" Hello, Mosely, Is Mr. Crawley in?" questioned Mary.
" Yes, my Lady, If you will just follow me." said Mosley.
" Lady Mary Crawley." annouced Mosley
" Thank you, Mosley. To what do I owe this unexpected pleasure, Lady Mary?" questioned a smiling Matthew.
" Well, I wanted to ask you to lunch. Now that your mother is working full time helping Doctor Clarkson I figured you must be a bit lonely.
" Yes I would love to go to lunch with you. Thank you for thinking of me.
" I would much rather go with you than go with Edith." said Mary bluntly.
" You two really must not like each other, why." asked Matthew.
" Because of a cake." said Mary plainly.
" A cake?" asked Matthew trying very hard to hold back his laughter.
" a spilled cake to be precise. She dumped hers on her dress, took my piece and claimed I spilled it on her. Ironically enough it was a lemon cake.
"At that Matthew could no longer suppress his laughter and by the time he realized it he was already laughing hysterically.
" What is so funny?"
" You are, Mary. How old were you anyway." asks a now composed Matthew.
" Five." said Mary.
"Mary that was twenty years ago don't you think that you and Edith should at least try to make up?" questioned Matthew.
" We should considering, Mama." said Mary.
" Is there something wrong with your mother, Mary?
" Oh I completely forgot that I was coming here to tell you, other then asking you to lunch of course, that my mother is pregnant. said Mary.
" That is amazing news, congratulations. said Matthew. " Oh, and speaking of lunch we should leave so we do not miss our reservation."
" What? I thought this was my treat." questioned Mary.
" I must confess your mother rang. She said that you were coming to ask me. I was about to make reservations for The Ivy in London so instead of a reservation for one I made a reservation for two." said Matthew.
" That just happens to be my favorite restaurant." smiled Mary.
"Your mother also told me that." confessed Matthew.
" You are absolutely charming, Matthew." smiled Mary.
" I am glad you think so." smiled Matthew.
On that happy note they left for the train station, went to lunch, chatted a bit, and had a wonderful time..
