Matthew sat at his desk staring at the clock in his office. There had been no cases he had to cover that day and he had another hour before lunch. He was just plain bored. That is until he receives the daily post.

" Now that is interesting." said Matthew to himself as tore the envelope open.

"Dear Mr. Crawley,

There has been a letter from a Mrs. Violet Crawley, the Dowager Countess of Grantham. She claims you are the friendliest lawyer she has ever dealt with, and she demands that you be promoted. We would like to reply to her that we have promoted you. please come to the main office on July the sixth for a meeting. We hope to see you then.

Sincerely,

William Becket

As Matthew finished reading the letter the door to his office opened. Mary and Violet entered.

" Hello, Matthew. Would you like to come to lunch with us?" said Mary cheerily.

" Of course I would, Mary. How are you, Cousin Violet?" replied and questioned Matthew as he turned his attention to the Dowager Countess.

" I am well, Matthew. Mary, dear will you tell Grayson that Matthew and I will be out in a moment." said Violet.

" Of course, Granny." said a confused Mary.

When Mary had exited the room Violet began speaking. " Matthew Mary's Grand mother is coming in from America with who claims to be her husband. I would like you to do some digging about James Carrey."

" I will try my best, Cousin Violet." said Matthew as they exited his office.

Meanwhile in Cora's sitting room...

Cora was reading Daddy Long Legs when she heard a knock on her door.

" Come in." she said as she set the book on the table next to her. When she looked up she saw Robert come in.

" Cora, dear , Doctor Clarkson informed of the reason you fainted. He also said you had some news to share with me." said Robert.

"Well, Robert, we are going to have to expand the nursery." smiled Cora.

" I know that, Dear. I am having Mr. Mosley build a new crib." replyed Robert.

" He will have to build two cribs, Robert." said Cora.

Robert's face went from confused to shocked to estatic in a matter of seconds.

" We are having twins?" Robert said as more of a question then a statement.

"Yes, Robert, we are having twins." Cora assured her husband.

Robert was rambling on about how he would get the best things for the babies that Cora had to ask him what he wanted to tell her.

"Oh about that. Please don't faint." Robert said this as he opened the door to has adjoining sitting room.

Standing in front of Cora was a man to anyone else would appear a normal man in his late fifties. Cora saw something entirely different. She saw the man she had thought to be dead for thirty years was standing in front of her.

"Father?" Cora questioned.

"Yes, Cora, it is I." said James smiling at his daughter.

Cora lunged herself toward the older man, and pulled him into a tight embrace. They were like this for five minutes. Then Martha spoke up.

" Well this is all lovely, but don't I get to see my daughter." said Martha impatiently.

James stepped aside to speak with Robert as the women exchanged words.

" How are you and the baby doing, my Dear?" questioned Martha

" The babies and myself are doing fine, Mother." said Cora.

" Did my ears just decieve me or did you just say babies?" said a slightly shocked Martha.

" Your ears did not decieve you mother. Robert and I are having twins.

" I think that is Enough news for one day." said James as they went down to the drawing room for tea.

Meanwhile at lunch...

" I will let you two finish your lunch, and pick you up in an hour." said Violet as she left the resturant.

"Okay, Granny, we will see you in an hour." said Mary.

When Violet had left Mary turned to Matthew.

" I wonder where Granny is going." Mary thought aloud.

" She told me when we were coming to the car that she would be leaving early to buy a new hat." said Matthew.

"Oh that is interesting. I wonder if it is from Lock & Co. She said she liked The Cordelia." said Mary.

"Probably, Is your Grandmama coming to Downton today?" questioned Matthew.

" Yes, and she can not wait to see you again." smiled Mary.

" She can't?" Matthew repeated in a questioning tone.

" She says so in the letter." says Mary, but before she can say more a waiter comes up to them and tells this to Mary and Matthew.

" A telegram for the Lady Mary Crawley."

" That is me, Thank you." Mary says to the man as she takes the Envelope from the man.

Mary's smile quickly fades as she reads the telegram.

Seeing her face change from happy to worried as she reads Matthew asks her this question.

" Mary what is the matter?"

" We must go back to Downton quickly. Mama has fainted." said Mary.

" What about your Granny?" questions Matthew.

" I will wire Lock & Co to tell her that her granddaughter has left Londen for urgen business at home, and will no longer need a ride." she said quickly.

" Then let us go to the station immeadiately."said Matthew.

They then left for Downton on the soonest train possible.
