The day he had been dreading finally arrived, February 14th, Dumbledore's annual Valentine's Dance. Snape debated poisoning his own breakfast to avoid having to go, but he knew there would be no escape. To make matters worse, as he'd struck out completely at the speed dating event, Voldemort had arranged him a blind date.

"Sevy!... Hey Sevy!" Lucius was tapping lightly on his door. Despite Snape's silence he let himself in and peered into the darkness, "Sevy! Sev? Are you in here?"

"Unfortunately..." He replied, flicking his wand to turn on the lights.

"Sevy, it's almost 4! You've been in bed all day, should you not be getting ready for the big night?"

Snape ignored him again, laying flat on his back and staring miserably at the ceiling.

"Hey buddy... it's not so bad..." Lucius sat on the edge of the bed and patted his arm gently, "I got you a little something to help you get... lucky tonight... if you know what i mean. A little felix felicis eh..."

Snape continued to ignore him, "So I'll just tuck this vial right in your pocket here... and well... if you need it you've got it I guess... I'll just leave you to it then..."

"This is going to be so much fun!" Exclaimed Voldemort squeezing his date's hand as they piled into their carriage, "Severus, you remember Lisa do you not? She likes cats! Isn't that interesting!"

"Terribly..." He responded flatly.

"And this is Lisa's sister Charlene! She's a teacher too!"

"I teach third grade!" She pipped in, "I just love children! You must as well! What do you teach Severus?"

"Potions..."

"Hahahah! Severus, so funny this man!" Cut in Voldemort, "He means chemistry of course!"

"So tell me again Tom, where are we going tonight?" smiled Lisa.

"The wizard's ball! You see my magicians guild puts on this big party every year where we all dress up like medieval wizards and pretend to do magic. Some of us get quite into the character I warn you! Ah! Here we are then!"

The carriage pulled up in front of the hall and everyone stepped out. Inside the party was already in full swing. Everybody who was anybody in the wizarding world attended Dumbledore's parties and so when doors swung open and who should enter but the Dark Lord Voldemort himself and his muggle plus one, there was a collective gasp and then complete silence.

"Tom!" Exclaimed Dumbledore, "I was beginning to think you weren't going to make it! This is splendid, and who, might I ask is your lovely companion?"

"I see what you mean by in character!" Whispered Lisa before she turned her attention to their host, "Hi! I'm Lisa, and this is my sister Charlene!"

Snape took a step back hoping to blend in with the black tapestry behind him but Charlene grabbed his hand and clung to his arm. He grimaced.

"Champaign?" A bright faced server danced by the group and extended a tray full of glasses.

Snape snatched one up and downed it, immediately grabbing a second. Everyone else sipped their beverages casually.

"Oh Tom! This party really is magical!" Cooed Lisa, in awe over the decor that seemed to have a mind of its own.

Voldemort was preparing to respond when a careless party goer knocked into him and spilt his drink.

"So sorry Sir! Here! Have mine, I've only just grabbed it, I've yet to have any!"

"Oh... thank you, but its quite alright..." Responded the Dark Lord, on his best behavior so as to not frighten the ladies.

"No really, I must insist!" The party goer responded, strangely forceful, and pressed the glass into his hand before disappearing into the crowd.

Snape scowled at the suspicious interaction, but Voldemort had already brushed it off.

"Come Tom! Let's dance!" Sang Lisa, finishing her glass and pulling Voldemort onto the floor.

"Severus my dear friend... would you hold my drink?"

Snape reached for the glass as he doubted he really had any say in the matter, and with that the Dark Lord was gone and he was alone with Charlene.
