Chapter 6
Me: HELLO, EVERYBODY! Yes, I am alive, and I am FINALLY getting back to this story! I apologize for the long wait; I've been suffering from a severe case of writer's block and haven't been able to figure out how to continue the story. Of course, I've had a ton of IDEAS floating around in my head, but without a solid plan on how to write them down and get them into the story, I haven't been able to update for a while.
Furytalon: Well, thank goodness you got past THAT little problem.
Mist: Agreed. How DID you solve your writers block, anyway?
Me: Well, it started when I picked up a magazine about nature and landscaping. From there, I started looking up some cool medieval style landscaping pictures, and voila! A fountain of ideas, and the perfect plan to continue the story with!
Crystal: Just be sure not to give any spoilers.
Me: Okay, okay…. But I will give some vague advice to the audience. There's a reason I've been introducing so many potential villain characters. But be warned, and pay attention; the TRUE villain of the story is the one you'd least expect…
Ember: H-Hey! You just gave them sp-sp-spoilers!
Me: My fanfic, my rules, Ember. Now, let's get to the disclaimer, and then to the story!
I do not own Wings of Fire. This amazing series belongs to Tui T. Sutherland.
"Wow, Morning Mist! That's such a pretty painting!" Clementine chirped, motioning towards the canvas her friend had been using. For some reason, Mist had gotten an amazing idea, seemingly from NOWHERE, to draw an old, marble and stone castle on an island. The castle was in the middle of a beautiful, lush, green valley surrounded by a glacier to the north, a dessert to the west, the ocean to the east, and a heavily forested mountain to the south.
"Thanks, Clementine." She smiled, dipping her brush back into the paint and starting to paint a waterfall flowing from the mountain into the lake next to the castle. "I saw it in a dream last night. At least… I THINK it was from my dream…. Honestly, I can't remember most of it. All I can remember is that this place in my painting feels oddly familiar. But that's impossible; it isn't any of the palaces from any of the tribes." Mist explained, before she stopped and realized she was rambling. I wonder why this place seems so familiar… Maybe Starflight has scrolls about a palace like this...? Clementine smiled brightly, her scales cascading with various shades of pink and yellow.
"Well I for one think that it's AWESOME. You really should get more into painting!" She cheered enthusiastically, bouncing up and down.
"I agree," A new voice spoke up, and the two dragonets turned around to see Sunny beaming with pride. "You have a real knack for art; especially music, from what I've heard. And I can see that it's true!" The older dragon complimented, admiring the painting. "Where did you get your inspiration?" Mist shrugged in response.
"To be honest, I don't know. It just kinda… CAME to me. But I think it was from a dream I had last night." She responded casually. I wonder if should tell Sunny that this place I painted feels familiar… Would she understand what I mean? Or would she just think it's because of the dream I said it came from? In reality, Morning Mist couldn't remember her dream in its entirety… only bits and pieces of it. And that bugged her. Especially since she had the weirdest feeling that her dream had been important, in some strange way. What is it about my dream that makes it so important? She wondered to herself. And why can I only remember some of it? After a while of silent pondering, she realized that Sunny and Clementine were both staring at her, as if awaiting a response. "Oh! S-Sorry, I zoned out for a bit there… Did you say something?" She apologized, and the older dragoness shook her head.
"No, we just thought that you were going to say something else about your painting. That and you looked…. Well, troubled, honestly." Sunny replied, tilting her head and gazing at Mist with concern. "Are you alright?" Mist nodded, smiling reassuringly.
"Don't worry about me, I'm fine. I was just wondering if there might be any scrolls about forgotten tribes in the library." She stated, evading the heart of Sunny's question.
"Well, I don't know about forgotten TRIBES, but I'm pretty sure we have a scroll about the Lost Continent in the library." Sunny smiled, thankfully not pressing the question any further. "I don't know for sure, but Starflight should definitely know if we have it or not." Clementine bounced in circles around Mist, eager to go to the library and spend some time working on her reading.
"Come on, come on! Let's go to the library and check it out then!" She squealed, thousands of bright colors swirling through her scales. Mist laughed, shielding her eyes from the blinding brightness of her friend's scales with her wing.
"Alright, Clementine. But do you think you could tone down your scales a little bit? My eyes are starting to hurt." She teased, earning a laugh and a light shoulder bump from Clementine.
"Alright, alright, Miss Artsy Scales. Now come on! I'm really interested in learning about this Lost Continent everyone keeps talking about!" Clementine then proceeded to skip out the room, not giving Mist the chance to respond. Well, I guess we're headed to the library now. She thought with a sigh, shaking her head. Oh well. I suppose I can finish my painting later; I'm interested in this "Lost Continent" too, after all. Mist smiled softly, then cleaned up her supplies and put her canvas on the drying rack.
"Have a nice rest of the day, Miss Sunny!" She called, waving at her principle, and proceeded to follow her friend to the library.
