So wanting to get this out, it's not Beta'd just heavily edited. We all know I'm not the strongest editor but I have tried. Leave me any suggestions on things I need to work on. I appreciate the creative criticism. I know my stories have been left for a really long time. It's like an on-off relationship I have with these stories! I am just very self critical of my writing skill and it puts me off writing for a time. Plus life sucks sometimes.
I hope you all enjoy this chapter. Sorry for any rambling parts in advance. Also if anyone who is massively into Bella/Jasper fics, like me, let me know of some good ones. I've ran out of my binge reading material! Ha!
Strong language as per, I don't own anything. Enjoy!
All four of us sat down to negotiate the terms of whatever the fuck I had found myself in, everyone was staring at me to start. How the fuck was I meant to start when I had no idea what I was getting myself into, or out of rather.
"So why don't we start with the whole mate thing. Are we just talking about the British slang for friend? I'm happy to be mates with you all if that's the case...?" I said with a sarcastic tone to my voice but a rather loud growl drew the attention away from my question. Mr growls scooted closer to me while glaring at the other two 'vamps' in the room, Mrs vamp rolled her eyes and cowboy just smirked at me.
"Not quite tea cake. Since he doesn't seem to know how to act aroun' women any more maybe we should explain it to ya. Man, major ya sure have lost your cool card." Cowboy said winking at me without even acknowledging another low growl clearly directed at him.
"I'm peter, this is my wonderful wife AND mate Charlotte. Mystery man is Jasper the gigantic jackass. Your names Isabella, right?" I slowly nodded my head trying to ignore the vibrating body next to me. I was giving him the side eye nervously as he pushed me behind him slightly and leaned in front of me on the sofa. Mr growls was seriously in a bad mood.
Pete slowly bowed his head and wifey followed suit and they stayed like this for nearly 5 minutes. No one spoke, which was pretty awkward.
While they all did there weird thing, I had chance to look over Mr Growls properly. His body pressed ever so slightly to mine I could feel the hardness of it, his muscles were flexing under the tight white t-shirt as if his body was coiled ready to spring into action. His body was taller and more muscular then Peters but was still just as lean, his arms were like a cage around me and I couldn't help but like what I saw. In the back of my head I was wishing he had been stood up so I could check out his ass, I made a mental note to do that later and carried on my assessment of him.
He was rugged but beautiful, his bone structure was a models wet dream, his eyes were piercing with plump lips, that now I was looking were oh so kissable. His jawline, one of my favourite parts of his body, made me want to nibble it while running my hands through his golden locks. They looked like silk but still held slight messy curls in them, despite the fact he kept tugging on them. I wanted to tug on them, in a more exciting way.
His smelt of sun, leather, tobacco and salt. It was delicious, my eyes were drinking him in and I couldn't help my legs from rubbing together. I had never been this attracted to someone. Not James or any other boy I had dated, not that there were many but that's what they were. Boys.
He was all man. Not that I wanted him to know I thought all these things.
As if on queue he turned and smirked at me as if he did know.
The vibrating calmed to a low purring sound and the others slowly raised there heads cautiously. Once they saw he was calm, they relaxed back into their seats. It was as if Mr Growls was some sort of leader.
I wondered if this was some sort of cult. A kidnapping cult.
I was about to loose my patience when Cowboy started to explain, Wifey gave me a small apologetic smile before turning her attention to the words coming out of her hubby dearest's mouth. His tone was a lot more serious and softer than before.
"So what Jasper meant when he said you two were mates is that your soul mates, partners for life. In our world once we've found our mate we're complete, neither one can live without the other, we don't need anything else but it's more animalistic for us. We're vampires, a natural predator so of course it calls to our more baser instincts. Our primal sides recognise each other and then, well you know" cowboys eyebrows moved up and down as a cocky grin grew across his face.
I'm sure my face showed i thought he was batshit crazy but after a moment of me staring at him and him continuing his eyebrow jiggle, charlotte or wifey as I like to call her continued for him.
"Because ya human sug' ya don't feel it, we get that. Jasper is your partner, he protects ya, looks after ya, wants to be there for ya. You will understand more once ya are one of us, it'll be like second nature to ya, that pull in ya chest, that animal need to protect and be with the other half of ya soul. But we're explaining this not only to try and make ya understand what's to come but why Jasper did what he did also.
We did have a plan but when ya have that urge to be with ya mate. To make it final, to claim what belongs to ya it's hard to resist. Especially with a more established male vampire. So that's why you've ended up here, he lost control." She spoke with ease and kept eye contact with me the whole time, willing me almost to understand.
It made me mad she thought I belonged to him, that they all expected me to just bend to this mans will. I didn't belong to anyone. I was my own person.
"Don't I get a choice in this? Don't I get to decide who I end up with? Who I get to love and be with forever? I don't know him. I don't want to be with him forever and I definitely don't belong to him ." My eyes found his as my voice grew louder with anger. How could they just expect me to roll over and accept this was my life now. A life full of vampire cult freaks wanting me to be a pet for there leader.
I had heard of cults before grooming women for sexual objects for leaders. You saw them on telly all the time, telling there stories about how they got brainwashed into some made up religion and ended up being made to think it was there decision to stay. That wasn't going to be me.
I wasn't gunna be this guys new chew toy no matter what. 'Soul mates' or not, It wasn't gunna happen.
The blackness of his eyes were trying to swallow me, pull me in. The mesmerising swirl of charcoal against onyx made my heart slow and my mind freeze, it was all I could see and think and wanted to feel.
I was snapped out of it by the noise of smashing glass and the breaking of wood. Blinking a few times I looked around to see a coffee table in bits. Jasper was hovering over it. Cowboy and Wifey were in the cult position again.
If this was a cult, where's the fruit punch?
"Urgh what is wrong with you people!" My voice quivered as I felt suffocated. I thought about the last few weeks before this, the fresh start I'd wanted.
"You haven't got no choice anymore. I've got all the time In the world for you to love me and I'm a patient man but you do belong to me. No doubt about it. Soon enough you will see that. For now, you wanted to negotiate." His voice was quiet and intimidating as he stared me down from his place towering over the pile of what was the coffee table.
He sat back down but now across from me in the middle if Cowboy and Wifey, keeping his intense gaze locked with mine.
It was a showdown all right. I was taking on Cowboy, Mr Growls and Wifey.
"Fine..."
My mind scrambled over all the things I wanted to do. Places I hadn't been too in my short life. There was too much, I couldn't just list them all right now. "I want as much time as it takes me to complete a bucket list."
Cowboy moved over to the sofa I was sitting on, nice to know someone was on my side. His eyes turned to Mr growls with a puppy dog like expression but he kept his gaze locked with mine. It was a standoff but I wasn't going to beg this dick.
"Yasssssss!" Cowboy wiggled at the side of me with wide eyes and a shit eating grin. He put his hand in my face for what I gathered was a high five, I looked at him incredulously. Now was no time for this. I needed to stand my ground.
"I'll get that off you later then" he slowly settled back into his seat a huge smile across his face. Growls looked a little less impressed but his eyes seemed less intense.
"What's the next one?" Growls was up before I could register what was happening and slowly started pacing in front of me with a look of concentration.
"I don't need another demand, I could put anything on that bucket list and you would have to comply with it now since it seems you've agreed to let me do it." I let out a evil laugh while staring at all three of them, I felt like a true villain from a film. I had just played my vamp kidnapper.
Yes, you may call me Miss Genius.
"You just got played son!" Cowboy jumped up, shouting my thoughts, he looked positively hyper while he jumped around dancing. Wifey smirked at me with a cocked brow before winking and standing to join her hubby. I smiled back, attests it felt like I had some allies.
"I like her major. She's definitely made for you." Her words left the smile slowly sliding off my face.
"I'll let you have your bucket list on some conditions. Nothing dangerous, six months to complete this list and a date with me once a week? He cocked his brow at me with a cocky smirk on his face, his eyes had lightened to a glowing crimson.
It was the first time I had seen his true eye colour, they looked oddly familiar but surprisingly didn't scare me.
I couldn't help the chill that ran up my spine, I couldn't tell you if it was of excitement or fear but...I liked it. His smirk grew. Cocky bastard.
"No."
"No bucket list then." We again stared at each other in another standoff. His smirk never left his lips and my eyes were steely as a small smile lifted at the corners of mine.
The stare off began. Eventually I had to blink though, since I was the weaker species, apparently.
Six months wasn't ideal but I could work with it. The date wasn't so bad, I mean I had not long ago been dreaming about nibbling that jawline. Sure he was growly but I just had to press the mute button in my brain and look his muscles to get passed that. Plus it would also give me chance to make him realise what a mistake it was to take me.
"Fine. One date, I don't have to like it though." I sighed before flopping back into the sofa, sulking.
"Only kidding ya'self there darlin." He countered with a wink and if his cocky smirk could get bigger I'm sure it would have done. His smugness made me roll my eyes and I pushed myself further into my seat.
"Now that that's settled sweet pea, why don't we get you some food?" Wifey said as she disappeared from sight. My mouth hung open as I looked at the two men in the room expecting an explanation.
"Vamp stuff, expect that a lot." Cowboy said before he looked at Jasper with his eyebrows raised.
"You haven't explained out, have ya?" Cowboys asked, well it wasn t much of a question really.
"Vampires have a lot of abilities that come with the package deal. Exceptional beauty..." Peter said as he stood and modelled for me.
I couldn t help my laugh as he pouted while looking over his shoulder at me.
"What ya squinting fo?" Jasper said, his southern drawl flaring up well and truly as he looked at Peter as if he had grown another head. His demeanour looked more casual than I had ever seen, I wondered how long it would last.
"That, you un-educated fool, is smizing. Watch America's Next Top Model once and while, jeez." Peter rolled his eyes and pretended to flick his hair over his shoulder. Jasper cracked a genuine smile while I was in near hysterics.
"Speed and grace as Char just demonstrated. Strength like good ol Jasper here demo'd for ya with the coffee table, which Char will want replacing." He gave a pointed look at Jasper, who nodded before continuing.
"Of course eternal life, super hearing, blah, blah, blah. Then there's some, like Jasper who are gifted with, well gifts. They come into this life with something they had before but amplified into something they can use. So Jasper was extremely charismatic."
I rose an eyebrow at this. Jasper winked and Peter's smile grew so wide I could barely see his eyes.
"Hard to believe, I know. But he was charismatic so now he has the power to be able to control and manipulate how people feel around him."
I looked over at Jasper my eyebrow still cocked, he turned his attention to peter who was still stood grinning at us both.
I felt this overwhelming excitement come over me and I shot out of my seat and started jumping up and down, a wide grin spreading across the whole of my face. Humour bubbled up from the pit of my stomach replacing the excitement. My eyes were streaming with tears as I full on belly laughed and grabbed at my sides.
I don't know how long I had been laughing but my sides hurt by the end of it and my face was damp with happy tears. Jasper stood with a cocky smirk and glint in his eyes, while Peter looked amused by the little show that was unfolding before his eyes.
I mean who could blame him for finding it funny, I looked insane. Hell, maybe I was. Maybe this was all an illusion and I was actually in a mental ward staring at a ceiling with distant smile. What a depressing thought. It had thoroughly popped my humour bubble. I, sad now, slowly sat back down starting at the carpet. The feeling all of a sudden left me.
I glared up at Jasper but before I could make a snarky comment about him being a puppet master Charlotte, aka Wifey, came strutting in with a fast food bag in hand. She smiled and plopped down next to me on the sofa shoving the bag in my lap.
Smelling inside the greasy brown bag my stomach made a scary noise, I had completely forgotten to eat and had no Idea how long I had actually been here. I practically inhaled the burger and gulped down half of the soda before muttering a quick thank you.
As I started to chomp down on the salty fries, I looked up to find three pairs of eyes on me, two were slightly puzzled and surprise surprise Cowboys were still filled with humour.
"It's not feeding time at the zoo guys, ya never seen a girl eat before?" I asked looking around the room. Pete shot Wifey a wink and I'm sure if she could blush she would have.
"Sorry sug, we don't eat human food and bein' honest with ya, it don't smell the best." Char said as she looked, again, puzzled at the brown bag with grease stains on.
"Your shitting me?!" I practically shouted in her face. She shook her head.
"I feel bad for you guys, you have no Idea what your missing." I shoved a handful of fries in my mouth to emphasise my point.
"Feelings mutual, trust me." Cowboy said as he came closer, picking a frie up and inspecting it.
I just opened my mouth and showed him my half chewed food in response. He just smirked at me before his full attention went back to the food in his hand.
"You've not growled in a while Jasper, the food repulse you that much?" I snarkily asked as I watched him deep in thought.
"I'm trying to work a plan out, we need to leave town." he said sighing and starting to pace, which I had decided he did all too often.
"We need to discuss a few things first. I have questions. What was you doing at the diner?
What about my family? How are vampires changed? I don't even know anything about you guys. Where are we? How long have we been here?"
My anxiety shot up slightly now I had eaten and putting the bag to the side, my full attention was on the situation.
"Jasper, you pea brain! Did you literally explain nothing?!" Wifey practically growled out.
"Yeah Jasper!" Peter playfully agreed before launching the frie at him and it landing in the middle of his forehead. Got to give it to the guy, he aimed well.
Jasper growled low before ripping the fri off his head and throwing it back at peter. Though since he was expecting it he dodged it before looking rather pleased with himself.
"Char, have I ever done this before. I did't even mean to take he'r" he growled back in frustration tugging on his hair.
"Well sug'." Cowboy started as he came over sitting on the other side of me and throwing an arm around the back of me. Jasper paused to glare at the arm as if it had offended him before going back to pacing.
"Vampires don't have any human needs. We live off blood and it's very difficult to kill us but is possible. So how we become the supreme beings we are is...THREE DAYS OF BURNING HELL!" Peter ended his little explanation with a deep dark shout, as if he was presenting a tv show and was announcing the grand, dark prize.
Brilliant. Fuck. That.
"Peter!" Wifey shouted before there was a resounding cracking sound.
"Ouch, Char I was just trying to keep her interested in the story!" Peter pouted while rubbing the back of his head.
"It's painful sweets but worth it. Vampires don't have blood circulating like humans do, we have venom. Once bitten and had venom released into the blood, it usually takes three days for the change to take place. We're at our house in Jackson an been here bout four hours." Char said all this with such a causal demeanour she almost had me thinking none of it was a big deal.
"What if I don't want to be like you guys, as I said before I don't really know any of you." My voice at this point started to sound weak. I hated it but the adrenaline was starting to work its way out of my system. Either that or it was just literally starting to dawn on me the severity of the situation.
"That's no longer an option." Jasper was now in front of me, his eyes intensely staring into mine. They held an emotion I couldn't put my finger on.
"Now you know what we are, there's no going back. There wasn't really an option to begin with, once I found you it would have been a done deal anyway, it was just a matter of when." His voice held hope, hope for what I don't know.
"To answer the rest of your questions, we were at the diner for us to meet. I lost control and took you then and there. The plan was to wait for you to feel the same as me but in light of recent events It couldn't wait." His eyes turned stony as his eyes narrowed slightly still looking into mine.
Peter shifted next to me and Char seemed to be in deep thought. I didn't know whether she actually was or just didn't want to be in this conversation.
"What recent events are you talking about?" I asked my voice sounding small. I didn't break eye contact but it was getting hard to stare back with his eyes growing darker by the minute. It made my belly fill with butterflies and flutter all the way down south. That wasn't a bad feeling but I wasn't sure that was good thing.
"So, quickly throwing it out there Sweets, Mates are super jelly. Jealous, with a capitol J. Especially when Mates haven't been claimed or marked. Also, marking is when both parties of a mated pair bite each other to stake claim of them. Claiming well, you can imagine." Cowboy wagged his eyebrows again at me while nodding his head towards Jasper.
A flush spread up my chest to my cheeks. Ignoring that, I looked up at Jasper waiting for the explanation of what these 'recent events' were.
"James?" Jasper ground out with clenched teeth. I was in shock. How did he know who James was or about me and James. I had mentioned I had a date planned but I never mentioned who with. As my brain worked through the shock I started to think about everything they had said. They had a plan to meet me at the diner but it was my first shift, so how did they know I would be there?
My mind came to the only conclusion is that they had been stalking me for a while. Jasper mentioning James made me think of everything that had happened leading up to this. Surely it couldn't have been him.
My eyes bore into his and my voice sounded incredibly small.
"You. Your the one who set his car on fire aren't you." It wasn't a question, I don't know how I knew but from everything they had said and the weird things that had happened to me before this all just seemed to click together.
Jaspers facial expression didnt change apart from a quirk to his lips that was almost, immediately, gone. If I had blinked I would have missed it.
It was all them.
The eyes in the woods that were red. The weird things outside my bedroom. The car fire.
I couldn't believe it, they had been stalking me since I practically landed here.
I felt sick.
They had been watching me all this time.
I never had a chance.
