Anxiety:
She turns up when you least expect it,
standing in the line waiting to pay,
answering a question in a room full of people.
She swallows every sane thought you have.
Suddenly the world is spinning
and the thought of death is not foreign to your mind,
It whispers to you,
taunting you,
telling you this would all be over if you were to give in,
allowing death to take you.
Shaking limbs and sweating palms,
a black hole in your mind,
taking everything with her,
the way a sink hole swallows the earth,
she swallows the essence of you.
She washes over your mind like a tsunami,
taking with it your strength and courage.
your body now an ocean filled with sludge,
a toxic wasteland,
that was once a beautiful reef.
and now you wonder; What's the point?
She is the ghost that possess your brain,
causing your heart to beat faster,
and your lungs to struggle to get enough breath.
Nothing makes sense any more.
Nothing will.
And once again, she has won.
