Well hello again! With all the positive feedback from the previous chapter, I thought I'd write another short chapter for you! I hope you enjoy!
I always forget a disclaimer, so here is it: For all previous, current, and all chapter to come, I want to say that I do not own anything except Emily and the plot.
GENERAL POV
Emily, Dorian, and John all got out of the car, inspecting the campus of the college that David attended. It was Princeton, to be specific.
Emily took a deep breath. There were several trees on the campus, along with some old historic buildings. There were some brand new buildings, devoted to different majors and specialties.
"Bringing you back to your college days yet, Kennex?" Emily asked, slamming the car door shut, locking the car.
"Not yet." He grunted.
"I'm going to the Admissions Office to see where David Harris is. Both of you can patrol the campus." Emily ordered.
"But-" John started.
"Too late!" Emily started walking away.
John huffed and walked in the opposite direction with Dorian.
Emily continued to the Admissions Office. She spoke to the secretary, who pointed her in the direction of the admission officers' offices. She found the head admissions officer. She knocked on the door.
"Come in." She heard a male voice from within. She entered.
Looking at the name plate on the desk, Emily pulled out her badge. "Mr. Nelson? Officer Emily Clark. I'm with the Seattle police. Can I ask you a few questions?"
Mr. Nelson nodded. "Of course. Seattle? A long way from home." He remarked.
"Yes." Emily changed the subject. "I'm here about David Harris."
"Ah, yes. David." Mr. Nelson smiled. He signaled for Emily to take a seat, which she did. "Excellent student. One of the brightest we have. I believe he's double majoring in Biology, Marine Biology specifically, and Robotics. He wants to be a robotic biologist, integrating technology into marine life, whether it's for military use or as a prosthetic for the injured."
"And can you tell me anything about his family? Father? Mother?" Emily inquired.
"His parents have never visited David here, but he visit them at their home in Trenton. He takes the subway right after his last class on Friday and takes the Subway back every Monday morning, since his Monday classes don't start until noon." Mr. Nelson explained.
"Today is a Friday. Has David left yet?" Emily asked, looking at the clock on the wall.
Mr. Nelson looked at the clock quickly. "His last class just ended. You might be able to catch him before he gets to the subway." He nodded.
"Thank you." Emily stood up and left.
She found John and Dorian milling around the campus, near their car. "He's catching the subway to get home in Trenton. We need to find him before we lose him."
John nodded and Dorian scanned the area.
"I've accessed the security cameras. He left the Robotics building through the west entrance. He's heading to the nearest subway stop on Washington Road." Dorian informed.
"Let's go!" Emily ordered. She started jogging quickly across campus, trying to catch up with the disappearing David. John and Dorian followed.
Emily caught sight of David and started running, not wanting to lose him. He went into the subway stop and swiped a card, letting him pass. Emily flashed her badge at the human security guard and MX standing by him, letting her pass. She slowed her pace a little, still keeping her distance from David.
John and Dorian were too far behind and lost them both in the crowd.
Dorian called Emily. Emily picked up her phone, still moving fast through the busy terminal. A train was pulling in.
"Yes, Dorian?" Emily kept her eyes on David.
"We lost you. Where are you?" John and Dorian were doing 360's looking for either Emily or David.
"I'm getting on the train that's coming in. David's getting on it. Take the car and track my cell." Emily ordered. She hung up and hopped on the train car behind the one David got on.
"Come on, John." Dorian waved him back towards the subway entrance and the two sprinted back to the campus where the car was. They got in, started the engine, and started driving towards Washington Road. John flicked the sirens on.
John took a sharp right, according to Dorian's instructions.
Emily never let David out of her sight.
After a few stops, John and Dorian had the train in their sights. Dorian kept tracking Emily until they reached Trenton within 20 minutes.
Emily got off the train, watching David. He went outside and hailed a taxi.
John and Dorian rolled up beside Emily. Emily got in the car. "Follow that taxi." She pointed it out, and John obeyed. Keeping their distance, they followed the taxi to Columbus Avenue, where David got out and paid the driver. He walked up to a house.
John parked the car at the end of the street and all three exited the car.
David entered the house and Emily, John, and Dorian quickly crossed the street to knock on the door. The three were about to get to the font walkway when the front door suddenly busted open.
There was an older man there, maybe mid-fifties. He was holding a shotgun, a scared and angry look in his eyes. He pumped the shotgun, and aimed it at the three, closer to Emily.
Dorian came running over to Emily, trying to help her. The man fired and Emily felt a sharp pain in her shoulder.
I hope you liked it. I don't know when I will update next. R&R!
