Hello readers! Sorry this one is so short, but the next chapter is already in the works.
Please enjoy!
The three officers arrived on scene within 15 minutes of leaving Emily's house. Several units were already milling outside, but only for a minute or so before they had gotten there. Detective Paul was there among others, as well as several MX's. Perhaps 11 people and androids total.
Emily, John, and Dorian got out of the car and walked up to the group preparing for the raid.
"Detective Clark." Detective Paul spotted her. "What are you doing back here?" He asked, a bit rudely.
"My job." Emily replied, pushing past him.
Detective Paul stared angrily at the back of her head. John and Dorian moved past him.
Emily and John received bulletproof vests from an MX and strapped them on. Everyone had their weapons loaded and ready.
"You good?" John asked Emily.
"Dandy." She replied.
"Let's go." John waved an arm and everyone followed him and Dorian into the building.
The team of detectives swept the only floor of the abandoned auto body shop to no avail. The missing MX was nowhere to be found, nor any evidence of the people who took it.
It was a large space, with plain gray concrete walls. Dust created a thick layer everywhere. Packing crates were spread throughout the space, covered in plastic sheets and dust. An older model car sat in the middle of the shop, it's hood open. The engine looked shot and the dust was probably making it worse. Even with lots of time and commitment, that car would never run again.
Emily had separated away from the clusters of detectives slightly, to find a hidden door nestled behind a workbench full of tools. She moved it aside and cracked the door open half an inch. She could see stairs leading down.
"Kennex." She called out. "There's a basement."
"I'm coming." He jogged over with Dorian and half of the team.
Emily opened the door the rest of the way and John pointed his gun down the stairwell.
"Down we go." He ordered.
Dorian led the way with Emily and John following behind. A few other detectives and MX's came as well.
Once they got to the bottom of the steps, they could see a huge array of technical and scientific equipment, as well as firearms and their missing MX dismantled on a table. The walls were white, like a science laboratory or a hospital. There were several unopened crates of most likely illegal or stolen tech.
The team continued to sweep the basement, searching for anyone who could be hiding there.
Suddenly, Emily took a step too far and tripped an alarm. The thumping of footsteps and the clicking of guns could be heard. People appeared from behind crates in the furthest part of the basement.
It was an ambush.
"Ambush!" Kennex cried out.
One of the attackers fired first. All the humans ducked for cover behind crates and equipment, momentarily peeking out to let a few shots go, using the crates to steady their weapons. Dorian and the MX's stood at the front lines, shooting at the attackers. The other officers and MX's came down the stairwell at the sound of guns.
Suddenly, Emily was grabbed from behind. She thrashed around for a moment. A hand pressed a cloth of chloroform over her mouth and nose. Emily fought for a few more precious moments, but collapsed in the arms of her attacker as she was dragged away, towards a doorway.
John spotted this. "Clark!" He yelled. He tried to move to help her but the bullets kept coming.
Dorian heard this and tried to run to help Emily. An attacker let bullets fly towards Dorian, landing in his arms and chest. One grazed his head, affecting his motor functions. He collapsed on the floor, a hand reaching out, desperately trying to help. Dorian tried to stand up, trying to reach Emily. He stumbled down to the ground again. His main functions were going haywire. He shut down.
The last of Emily's feet disappeared through the door, out of sight.
John became angry. First Emily and now Dorian. He didn't hold back. After five minutes of intense firefight, more than half of the attackers were dead and three were injured.
Kennex and the remaining detectives and MX's rounded up the surviving attackers and arrested them, sending them up to the precinct. No trace of Emily could be found.
John rushed back to the precinct and brought Dorian to Rudy.
"What happened?!" Rudy asked, shocked at what he saw.
"Ambush. Emily got captured. Fix Dorian so we can find her." John ordered.
Rudy stopped. "Emily? Where is she? Is she okay?"
"We'll find her, I promise." John assured Rudy.
Rudy worked quickly to repair Dorian's motor functions. Dorian turned on.
"Emily!" He said, sitting up
"Rudy needs to fix you first." John ordered.
Dorian silently protested. "Bare working minimum, Rudy." Dorian laid back down.
After an hour, with immense pacing back and forth by John, Dorian was up and working again.
"Let's go." Dorian ordered, standing up and walking out.
"We'll keep you updated." John assured Rudy.
The two of them walked into the precinct, everyone available was already working on where Emily could be.
"I want scouts in the air and as many patrols on the ground as possible." Captain Maldonado ordered.
"What did they tell us?" John nodded towards the arrested attackers.
"Nothing much. Just that she's probably still in the area." Maldonado replied.
"What can we do?" Dorian asked the captain.
"Go back to the auto shop. See what you can find. Go from there." Maldonado instructed. "We'll find her, I promise. She can handle herself." Maldonado assured the two men, as well as trying to assure herself.
