Hello! I knew you were all waiting, so I wrote this on my day off on Monday. I hope you like it!
GENERAL POV
John and Dorian rushed back to the abandoned auto shop, going at least 30mph over the limit. But it didn't matter. The both of them only wanted Emily back safe and sound.
When they arrived at the auto shop, they practically ran inside, trying to find where Emily was. John and Dorian walked into the shop and then down the stairs to the secret basement.
"This is where they dragged her." John moved to the door where Emily disappeared. John threw it open to find a hallway.
"Where does it go?" Dorian asked, looking on from behind John.
"I don't know. I guess we're going to find out." John pulled out his gun and held it up in front of him. "Tell Maldonado."
"Already done." Dorian replied, pulling his gun out as well.
"Let's go." John ordered.
The two slowly made their way down the hallway. There was a light shining at the end.
"Come on." John walked faster.
At the end of the hallway, there was a door. There was nothing special about, it was just a wooden door, painted silver.
John kicked down the door.
It revealed the outside. John stepped out, with Dorian right behind him. The must have walked under a whole city block because they were in the parking garage for the mall.
"Can you scan for Clark's DNA?" John asked, turning in a circle, looking for clues.
"Working now." Dorian scanned the ground for any traces of Emily's DNA. He found a trail leading through the parking garage. "Follow me." Dorian ordered.
He quickly followed the trail, which led him several yards down, to any empty parking spot. "The trail stops here."
"What do you mean, 'stops?'" John asked, angry.
"They must have loaded her into a car and drove away." Dorian reasoned.
"Can we follow the car?" John asked, impatiently.
"I can scan for tire tracks." Dorian offered.
"Then do it already!" John raised his voice.
"John, calm down." Dorian paused and turned to face him. "We are going to find her, I promise."
"I don't understand. Why would they take Emily?" John asked to no one in particular.
"You said 'Emily.'" Dorian stated.
"So?!" John replied.
"You've never referred to her as 'Emily.'" Dorian replied, trying to keep John calm.
"Your point?"
"John, do you like Emily? Like, really like?" Dorian asked.
John paused. "Yes. I suppose so."
"Alright." Dorian nodded. "The tires track lead this way." Dorian walked past John.
Dorian followed the tires tracks until they led straight out into the open road. It was one of the busiest roads, since it led into the mall, and away from it, going towards the inner, more populated city.
"I lose them here." Dorian was starting to lose hope.
"Can you identify the make and model by the tires?" John was losing hope as well.
"The tires were models from late 2041, made for BMW SUV's." Dorian replied.
"Can you match the make and model from the time of the ambush? There's a security cam at every entrance and exit of the parking garage." John offered.
"Accessing now." Dorian paused. There's a black BMW SUV leaving a few minutes after the ambush. I can't see the plate, I can try to follow it with street cams." Dorian faced glowed blue, every effort being made.
Dorian sighed, shoulders slumping. "I lost it through the back roads. There's weren't any cams to use."
"Did you try banks and ATM's? Security cams on the exterior of buildings?" John stepped up to Dorian's face.
"I did everything I could, John." Dorian put a hand on his friend's shoulder. "Let's go back to the precinct and tell Maldonado. She could get the drones on it." Dorian offered.
John tensed up a hand into a fist. He took a deep breath. "Alright. Let's hurry."
The two ran back through the parking garage and down the secret hallway until they got back to the car. John jammed his foot permanently on the gas, racing back to the precinct.
John and Dorian ran inside.
"Do you have any news?" Maldonado turned to them as they walked in.
"We need more drones out, looking for a 2041 model BMW SUV." John informed her.
"No sign of Emily?" She asked, disappointed.
John slowly shook his head.
"Alright. I'll get more drones in the air." Maldonado agreed.
"You better come see this!" Detective Paul poked his head into Maldonado's office.
Everyone's eyes widened as they rushed out to the big conference room screen. An encrypted transmission came in.
It revealed four people on the other side. There was a man standing in the center, who was most likely the leader of the ambush. He had two armed guards in the background. All three of them had black skin on.
Then there was Emily. She looked distressed. There was a knife sticking out of her leg.
"Hello there, Captain Maldonado." The leader spoke first. His voice was deeper and more mechanical than any normal human's. He must be wearing a voice disguiser.
"To whom am I speaking?" Maldonado crossed her arms.
"That is of no importance." The leader ignored the question.
"What do you want?" Maldonado was starting to get angry.
"Jason Harris." The leader bluntly replied.
"What will we get in return?" Maldonado considered a trade.
"Your officer here, obviously. Sorry the goods are damaged." The leader swept his feet under Emily, knocking her down to the ground. She yelled out in pain as she stayed on her knees.
Dorian didn't look away from Emily after that.
"That doesn't seem like a fair trade." Maldonado tensed at Emily's pain.
Emily stared at Dorian. She kept tapping her leg. Dorian finally realized what she meant and slightly inclined his head.
"Take it or leave it." The leader impatiently replied.
"Give me an hour." Maldonado offered.
"The clock is ticking." The leader cut out the transmission.
"Alright, we need a plan." John turned to Maldonado.
"I have an idea on how to track Emily." Dorian spoke up.
"How?" John whipped around to face Dorian.
"I can't tell you." Dorian replied.
"What? Why not?" John was getting angry.
"Just give me ten minutes." Dorian argued.
John was about to say something, but Maldonado cut him off. "Just do it."
John stared angrily at Dorian for a moment, but then left the conference room and sat at his desk. The room cleared out and Dorian was alone.
He accessed Emily's medical records and found the serial number for her leg prosthesis. Then he dialed Jason Harris' number.
"Hello?" Jason answered the phone.
"Mr. Harris? This is Dorian. We had spoken a few days ago?" Dorian replied.
"Yes, yes. What can I do for you?" Jason asked.
"I need you to track something." Dorian answered.
"Sure." Jason paused. "Okay, what are you tracking?"
"Is it possible to track a medical prosthesis with the equipment you have?" Dorian asked.
Jason paused. "Theoretically, yes."
"I have the serial number." Dorian added.
"Alright. Tell it to me and I will let you know." Jason was ready.
Dorian repeated the serial number to Jason. Then Jason said his vocal password. Dorian was tensing up, worrying.
"Here we go. The last available transmission was right outside 392 North Palm Avenue." Jason informed Dorian.
"Thank you, Mr. Harris." Dorian relaxed.
"Good luck. I hope you find what you're looking for." Jason hung up.
Dorian ran out of the conference room and towards John. John perked up and stood up.
"392 North Palm Avenue." Dorian told John.
"Are you sure?" John became hopeful.
Dorian nodded.
Maldonado walked over after overhearing John. "Did you find her?" She asked.
"392 North Palm Avenue." Dorian repeated.
Maldonado nodded. "Everybody listen." She raised her voice above the hushed whispers and chit chat. "We found Officer Clark at 392 North Palm Avenue. I need all available units over there pronto. We're taking it down." Maldonado ordered.
