Hello everyone! So sorry for the long wait, but I've had terrible writer's block! I practically wrote most of this in a half hour, so hopefully the spelling and grammar is right.

I really hope you enjoy this chapter!

Emily sat in a conference room back at the precinct, with Nicholas sitting in a chair to her left. She was intently reading John's report of the ordeal, learning of Hale's true intentions.

"Are you sure you're alright?" Nick asked Emily.

Emily let out her signature sigh. "Yes."

"Not with that sigh you're not." Nick replied.

"Hale told me his real name. If you're going to do a trade off, you don't tell your victim your name. Hale would have killed me." Emily explained.

Nick put a hand on her shoulder. "You're a fighter. You would have made it."

"Well I got rescued like a damsel in distress." Emily replied.

"You're not a damsel." Nick asserted.

"I thought you were supposed to be in Beijing." Emily changed the subject.

"I had them turn the jet around as soon as I heard about you." Nick explained.

"Are you going to go fly over tomorrow or something?" Emily asked.

"Nah." Nick leaned back in his chair. "I was only tagging along anyways."

Emily rolled her eyes.

"Are you hungry?" Nick asked, sitting up again. "I'm hungry. You should be hungry."

Emily shrugged.

"You will be hungry." Nick shook her shoulders.

Emily laughed. "Alright. Where do you want to go?" She smiled.

"Chinese. I definitely want Chinese." Nick nodded, confirming what he said.

"Are you sure you're not going to go to Beijing?" Emily asked.

"Positive. I have to take care of you." Nick replied.

"Chinese food it is then." Emily stood up and Nick followed, buttoning his suit jacket.

Emily walked past John as he was finishing up for the night.

"Emily." He called out.

Emily stopped and turned.

"I was hoping you could grab some Chinese food with me?" He offered.

"Oh, hey, Em." Nick cut in.

"Yes?" Emily asked.

"I have some files that I should send to the boss before he leaves. I'll meet you at home." Nick answered.

"Are you sure?" Emily asked.

"Positive." Nick replied. "Call if you need anything." He continued to walk out of the precinct.

"Yes, John, I would love to get Chinese with you." Emily finally responded to John's question.

"Are you going to go like that?" John asked, a little worried.

Emily looked down at what she was wearing. Her jeans were tattered and her t-shirt had some of her fake blood on it.

"I need to change." Emily sighed.

"Do you have clothes to change into?" John asked.

"I should still have my t-shirt and sweatpants from my first day back." Emily thought out loud as she walked over to her desk. She opened a drawer and found her clothes. "I can change in the car." She turned to face John. "Do you mind?" She asked, knowing he wouldn't.

"Not at all." John smiled.

"Shall we go?" She asked.

"Yes." John held out an arm for her to hold. Emily placed her hand around his muscular arm and the two walked out of the precinct and towards the car.

John got into the driver's seat and Emily got in the backseat. John started the car and made his way towards Chinatown.

Emily pulled her ruined shirt off and wiggle out of her jeans. Emily felt the car pull slightly to the right.

"John..." She jokingly warned.

"Sorry." He apologized, then smiled to himself.

Emily pulled on the faded red t-shirt over her head and maneuvered her way into her sweatpants. She balled up her ruined clothes and tossed them onto the backseat floor.

"All set." She told John.

Emily stuck her legs in between the driver seat and passenger seat. Holding onto the headrests, she pulled herself forwards and slid into the passenger seat. She set her feet down and put her seat belt on.

"You look good." John complimented her.

"Your lie is greatly appreciated." Emily replied.

"I mean it." John looked intently at her.

Emily felt her cheeks heat up and turned to look out the window.

oOoOo

After dinner, John dropped Emily off at her house.

"I had a great night." Emily unbuckled her seat belt. "Thank you, John." She turned to look at him.

"My pleasure." John gave her a half smile.

"I mean thank you for saving me." Emily explained.

"It was all Dorian. You should be thanking him." John tried to decline.

"But I'm thanking you, John." Emily replied.

"I don't deserve it." John tried to argue.

"John..." Emily started.

"No, I'm serious. I let them take you away." John forcefully spoke.

"John," Emily moved to the edge of her seat and leaned in, "I'm trying to give you a compliment." Emily tried to reason.

John stared at her for a moment. "Then I will accept your compliment, but I'm not taking the credit." John answered.

"Too bad. I'm giving you the credit anyways." Emily overruled him.

"Can I ever win an argument with you?" John asked.

"No." Emily smiled.

"That's what I like about you." John chuckled and leaned in.

Emily let out a little laugh, but was cut off by John's lips on hers. She kissed him back gently, wrapping her arms around his neck. John slowly pulled back.

"You should get inside." John warned her.

"Why?" Emily asked.

"Because your brother is watching." John explained.

"Oh, awkward." Emily dropped her hands. "Sorry." She apologized.

"It's fine." John waved a hand. "I'll pick you up tomorrow?" He asked.

"Yes." Emily smiled.

"Goodnight, Emily." John gave her a small, sincere smile.

"Goodnight, John." Emily kissed him one more time on the lips, lasting just a mere second.

Emily took her clothes from the backseat and exited the car. She walked up to her house and up to Nicholas, who was standing at the open door in a t-shirt and flannel pants. His hair was a mess and a five o'clock shadow was starting to roll around.

"What the hell, Nick?" Emily shoved her ruin clothes into Nicholas' arms.

"Sorry?" Nick backed up to let Emily in the house, and then shut the door behind her. He dropped Emily's clothes on the floor.

"What's your problem with him?" Emily gestured to the closed door, meaning John.

"I don't have a problem with him." Nick tried to defend himself.

"Well don't go acting all protective over me just because I love a guy." Emily exasperatingly let out.

"I'm not getting protective over you!" Nick fired back. "I'm your brother!"

"It seems like you are!" Emily raised her voice.

"Emily, you just got kidnapped! Of course I'm going to feel a need to protect you!" Nick explained.

Emily rushed forward and flung her arms around Nick's neck. "Oh, Nick... I thought I was going to die!" Emily started to cry.

Nick wrapped his arms around her waist. "It's okay, it's okay." He comforted her. "You're safe now. I'm with you." He murmured into her ear.

"I was going to die, Nick." Emily repeated.

"You weren't." Nick forcefully replied. "John saved you and you're okay. That's all that matters." Nick started swaying back and forth to calm Emily down.

Nick could still feel the tears streaming down from Emily's eyes onto his shirt.

"You know what's going to cheer you up?" Nick asked.

Emily sniffed. "What?" She spoke into Nick's shoulder.

"Ice cream..." Nick smiled.

"Really?!" Emily perked right up. "You got some?" She asked.

"It's in the freezer." Nick taunted.

"Yes!" Emily bolted to the kitchen, stood in front of the fridge, and pulled open the freezer. She grabbed the pint of ice cream and slammed the freezer shut. She threw the ice cream in the microwave for a few seconds, not wanting to wait for it to soften up normally. The microwaved beeped and Emily grabbed the ice cream. She ripped the lip off and threw it away. She grabbed a spoon and jammed it into the semi-hard ice cream. She scooped out a chuck and ate it in one bit.

"Mmmm." She savored in the flavor, closing her eyes.

"See? I told you." Nick walked up to her.

"That's why you're my brother." Emily smiled.

"Hey, scoop some out for me!" Nick cried out as Emily took another heaping spoonful for herself.

"No way!" Emily clutched the pint of ice cream tighter. "This is mine! Get your own." She took another bite.

"I bought that for the both of us." Nick complained.

"Tough luck." Emily said through a mouthful of ice cream. She walked out of the kitchen and plopped down on the couch. "Let's find something to watch."

Nick sighed and walked over to the couch and sat down next to Emily. "No wonder you're my sister." Nick chuckled.

"Hey!" Emily looked at him, pretending to be angry.

Both burst out laughing, signaling that everything was going to be alright.
