Hello everyone. Here's the next chapter, as promised (a day late, sorry).

Enjoy.

"Dorian!" Emily called out, hopping down the stairs as she pulled a shoe on. "Hurry up! We're going to be late." She grabbed her keys off of the coffee table.

"Sorry!" Dorian came rushing down the stairs, pulling on a jacket.

Emily heard John honk the car horn just outside her house.

"I'm coming!" She yelled at the front door, hoping John would hear her. "Let's go." She rushed Dorian out the door, locking it behind her. She pulled her hair up into a bun as she made her way to the car.

"Well, look who's late." John smirked as he looked through the passenger window to see Emily and Dorian, hurrying to the car.

"I don't want to talk about it." Emily huffed as she got into the passenger seat.

Dorian got into the backseat. "I made her late."

"Yeah, so why did you have to pick us up early?" Emily asked as John started driving.

"Maldonado got a call from one of the jewelry store manager. He said he remembered something important." John sighed. "Maldonado wanted us there first thing in the morning." He added.

Emily groaned. "Can we at least stop for coffee first?" She asked. "I didn't have time to make any."

"Sure." John agreed.

"There's a place across the street from the jewelry store we need to go to." Dorian spoke up from the backseat.

"Good." Emily sighed in relief. She pulled out her phone. "Dammit." She huffed.

"What?" John asked.

"My phone's practically dead." Emily rolled her eyes in annoyance.

"I have a charger in the glove compartment." John pointed to it. "Charge it before we get to the store." He offered.

"Thanks." Emily opened the glove compartment, stuck her phone on the charging dock that John had in there, and shut it.

Within a few minutes, the trio parked outside the coffee shop, which was across from the jewelry store just like Dorian said it would be.

"Did you want anything?" Emily asked, unbuckling.

"No, I'm fine." John assured her.

"Do you have money?" She asked.

"Now you want money?" John asked, jokingly mad.

"You rushed me out of the house and I forgot my bag. So it's your fault I don't have money." Emily replied.

"Fine, fine." John smiled a little as he pulled out a wad of money. He pulled out a ten and handed it over. "Just give me the change back." He added as Emily got out of the car.

"No." She replied, walking away, and into the shop.

John's phone rang.

"Crap." He sighed, trying to pull it out of his pocket. "Dorian, can you go interview the manager?" He asked.

"Sure." Dorian got out of the car and walked across the street.

"Hello?" John answered his phone.

"Kennex? It's Maldonado." The Captain answered.

"What is it?" John asked.

"The bank manager just called saying that he remembered something as well." She explained. "Do you think you could take a look at him?" She asked.

John sighed. "Sure."

"Thanks." Maldonado hung up.

John pocketed his phone.

Someone knocked on the driver side window.

John rolled down the window. "Can I help you?" He asked in a slightly annoyed tone.

"I believe you can." A woman purred.

John lifted an eyebrow in confusion.

"I need a ride." The woman added.

John paused for a moment, something coming over him. "Well, get right in." He gave her a half-smile.

"Why, thank you." The woman smiled back. She circled around the car, slid into the passenger seat, and sped off.

Meanwhile, Emily had gotten her coffee, and Dorian and finished speaking with the manager.

Emily walked out of the coffee shop, a hot black coffee in hand, and found no sign of John or the car. She saw Dorian on the sidewalk across the street from her. She threw a hand up in annoyance. Dorian shrugged.

Emily annoyingly waved a hand and Dorian crossed the street to get to Emily.

"Where's John?" She asked.

"I don't know." Dorian replied. "He sent me in when he had to take a call." He explained.

"I left my phone in the car." Emily groaned, rubbing a temple.

"I'll call Maldonado." Dorian offered, his face lighting up blue.

Emily angrily sipped her coffee as Dorian explained the situation to Maldonado.

When Dorian hung up, he turned to Emily. "They're sending a unit our way to take us back to the precinct.

"Good." Emily frowned, sipping more coffee.

Back at the precinct, Maldonado was in a slight frenzy.

"What do you mean 'gone?'" She asked Emily and Dorian.

Emily let out a small sigh. "I went in for coffee, Dorian went to the jewelry store to talk to the manager while John took a call, and then when we came out, John and the car were gone."

"Did he say or mention anything about needing to go anywhere?" Maldonado asked, rubbing her temples.

"No." Dorian replied.

"Find him." Maldonado ordered, sitting in chair.

Emily nodded, and she and Dorian left Maldonado's office.

Emily sat at her desk. "Dorian, can you track the car?" She asked.

"Of course." Dorian's face lit blue as he searched for John. After a moment, he shook his head. "The tracking system was disabled."

Emily huffed. "Of course it was." She sighed lightly. "Can you look at security cameras in the area?"

Dorian nodded again, pulling the swing-out monitor into view. "Emily." He started after a minute or two.

"Yeah." She stood up and walked over to him.

"I have a few images from a camera across the street." Dorian pulled up video-stills of a woman getting into the passenger seat of the car with John at the wheel.

"All right let's go canvas the area, show off the pictures." Emily grabbed her jacket off her desk chair.

"Do you want me to send them to your phone?" Dorian offered.

"Sure." Emily replied. Then she froze. "My phone." She said with wide eyes.

"What's wrong?" Dorian asked.

Emily laughed. "My phone's in the car."

"Your phone's in the car." Dorian echoed.

"My phone's in the car!" Emily said louder, shaking Dorian by the shoulders a few times. "Can you trace it on the go?" Emily asked, watching Detective Paul walk in after his patrol.

"Yes." Dorian replied, following Emily as she walked away.

"Hey, Paul." Emily stopped the Detective before he could escape her, putting a hand on his shoulder.

He sighed. "What do you want, Clark?"

"I need your unit." Emily didn't really ask.

"Nope, sorry." Paul replied, smirking a little.

"Okay, never mind then." Emily shrugged it off.

"That's it?" Paul was a little confused. "No pestering, begging, or threatening?" He asked.

Emily shrugged again as she walked away. "Don't need to." Dorian followed next to her.

"Why?" Paul called after her.

Emily held up a set of car keys for Paul to see as she continued on her way.

"Why, you little…" Paul trailed off angrily.

Emily snickered as she and Dorian left the precinct. They walked to the parking lot and Emily clicked the unlock button on the car keys, trying to find where Paul had parked.

After a couple of tries, Emily found it, and got into the driver's seat.

"Ugh, gross." Emily moved an empty soda can to the back seat and on top of a stack of magazines. "Did you find my phone yet?" She asked as she started the car engine.

"Corner of Main and Riverside." Dorian answered as Emily squealed out of the parking lot and into traffic.

"Detective Paul is calling me." Dorian spoke up when they were a few blocks out.

"Ignore him." Emily waved a hand as she pressed down on the accelerator more.

After a moment, Dorian talked again. "Now Captain Maldonado is calling."

"Ignore her." Emily pulled a quick right onto Main Street.

"I'm unsure of what you intend to do once we get to where John is." Dorian sounded concerned. "We don't know if that woman is dangerous or if she's working alone."

"It doesn't matter." Emily answered. "I have a gun, you have a gun." She paused. "We'll be fine." She started looking for Riverside Avenue.

"Now Rudy is calling me." Dorian sighed a little.

"Answer it, speakerphone." Emily quickly replied.

"Yes, Rudy." Dorian answered.

"Dorian!" Rudy could be heard, panicking slightly. "Where's John? And Emily? I can't get a hold of either of them."

"I'm here Rudy." Emily piped up. "I don't have my phone on me." She explained.

"Where's John?" Rudy asked.

"Missing." Dorian replied. "We are looking for him now."

"Okay." Rudy went quiet for a moment. "I have the name of the chem you asked me about, Emily."

"Good, good." Emily perked up. "What is it?"

"Mist X." Rudy replied, sounding a bit nervous.

Emily silently swore. "How do we get John out of it?" She asked.

"There's no definitive medical cure for it currently," Rudy started, "but some home remedies say herbal tea or a jump in a dumpster will do it."

"That's quite a variation but it'll have to work." Emily parked outside the house on the corner of Main and Riverside, seeing their unit parked off to the side.

"Be careful not to get any on yourself!" Rudy warned as Emily and Dorian exited the car.

"Don't worry." Emily replied, pulling her gun out.

Dorian hung up on Rudy and walked in front of Emily as they walked to the door.

Dorian knocked on the blue door. "Police." He called out.

After no satisfiable answer, Emily pushed Dorian to the side and kicked the door in. Dorian drew his gun as Emily went room by room, looking for John or the woman who was with him.

"First floor's clear." Emily told Dorian went they met at the staircase.

"Upstairs?" Dorian offered.

"I'll lead." Emily replied before Dorian could object. She had her gun pointed upwards as she silently went up the stairs. The two checked each room as they made their way down the hallway, finding nothing and no one.

There was one room left at the end of the hall, and the door to it was closed.

Emily looked at Dorian, one hand on the door knob. Dorian nodded and Emily pushed the door open.

"Freeze!" Emily yelled as she and Dorian pointed their guns at the only two people in the room.

There was John, sitting on a couch next to a blond woman wearing tight-fitting clothes.

John looked up at them with a haze in his eyes. The woman looked infuriated yet calm. She pulled John's gun out from under his coat.

"Wow, this will be so easy." The woman spoke, pointing the gun at Emily.

Emily clicked the safety off her gun.

The woman walked around the couch and closer towards and end table with a perfume bottle on it.

"What's your name?" Dorian asked.

"Eliza Williams." She replied, reaching for the perfume bottle.

"What did you mean, 'easy?'" Emily asked, a bit annoyed and angry.

"Well, all I have to do is shoot you," Eliza pointed the gun at Emily, who didn't flinch, "and seduce you." Eliza winked at Dorian as she picked up the perfume bottle.

Eliza went to spray more perfume, or Mist X presumably, all around her neck.

Emily fired twice.

The perfume bottle clattered back down on the table. John's gun clattered down on the floor.

Eliza fell backwards, two bullet holes in her chest, an inch apart from each other.

Emily walked forward and picked up John's gun and checked to make sure Eliza was dead. "Call Maldonado." She calmly ordered Dorian, who complied.

She walked over to John who was still sitting down, unaffected by the gunshots. "John..." Emily started, waving a hand in front of his face.

"Wow..." He said in awe. "You're so beautiful."

"John, snap out of it." Emily tried again.

"Your eyes are so green..." He continued to marvel. "You're just so perfect." He smiled a goofy smile.

"Dorian, help me take him downstairs." Emily pulled John's legs up, ready to carry him.

"All right." Dorian pulled John's arms and upper torso and hauled him over his shoulder, letting Emily's hands drop to her side. She walked down the stairs in front of Dorian. She rushed into the kitchen, looking for herbal tea, just like Rudy had instructed. She flung open cabinet and drawers, searching for some tea that she could make for John.

"Nothing!" She yelled, exasperated.

"Now what?" Dorian asked, John still over his shoulder.

"Dumpster." She sighed.

"There's one across the street." Dorian added.

"Let's go." Emily walked to the front door and left the house. She walked across the street, dumpster in sight. Dorian dutifully followed.

The two stood in front of the dumpster, unsure if they should toss John in.

"I mean, we should, right?" Emily asked, crossing her arms. She held the keys to the car in her hand after taking them out of one of John's pockets.

"We have to." Dorian reasoned.

Emily nodded. "Do it."

Dorian pushed John off of his shoulder and into the dirty dumpster.

After a moment, John came to his senses. "What the hell?!" He yelled, realizing where he was.

"Oh good, you're awake." Emily answered.

"Why am I in a dumpster?" John asked, as he pulled himself out.

"That woman who kept stealing stuff without any trouble? She was using Mist X and used it on you." Emily explained.

"Great." John huffed as he tried to get all the trash off himself.

"Hey, Kennex!" Heads turned to see Detective Paul, another officer, and a few MX's standing in the street. "I see they put you where you belong!" Paul yelled again.

John went to shout something in reply but Emily spoke first. "Nice choice of magazines, Paul!" She yelled, walking to her car.

Paul shut his mouth.

John and Dorian followed Emily to the car.

"The body's upstairs." Emily added, as she got into the driver's seat and started the engine.

John smirked a little as he went to get into the passenger seat.

Emily stopped him. "Nuh-uh. Backseat, mister." She ordered, pointing her thumb towards the back seat.

John huffed and silently went to the back seat. Dorian got in the passenger seat instead.

Emily lowered all the windows and jammed the accelerator. The trio sped off, back towards the precinct.
