John and Emily were sitting on Emily's couch in her house. Dorian was already shut down and charging. Emily was snuggling against John's chest, both of them wrapped in a blanket.
There was a knock at the door, and then it opened.
"Hey, Em." Nick walked in, focused on getting his key out of the lock. "I brought pizza." He looked up. "Oh."
John nodded and smiled a little.
"Sorry, I didn't know you were here." Nick said to John.
"No worries." John waved a hand.
Emily sat up and went for the pizza.
"Hungry, I see." John chuckled as he grabbed a slice.
"Whoa, you're eating something other than Chinese?" Emily smiled. "Interesting."
John laughed.
"I'm gonna run to the bathroom." Emily stood and entered the small powder room beyond the kitchen.
"You saw her at physical therapy, didn't you?" Nick spoke, crossing his arms, but keeping his attitude light.
"How did you know?" John looked up at him.
"It's in your eyes when you look at her." Nick answered. "You've seen her at her most vulnerable and you fell in love again."
John nodded, but stayed quiet.
Emily emerged from the bathroom.
"Well, I'm gonna get going." Nick smiled.
"Are you sure?" Emily asked.
"Yeah." Nick smiled a little.
"Okay." Emily leaned back into the couch.
"Bye." Nick left Emily's house.
John and Emily finished off the pizza while watching TV.
John looked at the time on his phone. "Hey, I should get going. It's late." He stood and grabbed his jacket from the kitchen counter.
"You don't want to stay the night?" Emily asked.
"I wouldn't want to impose. Besides I have something to do." John answered as Emily walked up to him.
"Okay…" Emily replied.
"I'll see you tomorrow morning." John pulled her close.
"Goodnight." Emily stood on her toes and kissed him.
John let go of Emily. "Goodnight." He smiled.
Emily opened and closed the door as John left. She sighed and pouted to herself, thinking. She threw away the pizza box and went to bed.
