Hello everyone! Enjoy this one. New case!
"Good morning." Emily kissed John as she closed the door behind them.
Dorian was on his way to the car, getting in the back.
"Morning." John held her hand.
"Ready for a new case?" Emily asked.
"Of course." John answered.
"Ready for me to drive?" She smiled, plucking the keys out of John's free hand.
"Never." He laughed a little.
Emily got in the driver's seat and John in the passenger. She slammed down the accelerator.
Several traffic laws were broken on the way to the precinct, where Maldonado was waiting for Emily, John, and Dorian.
"Clark," Maldonado handed her a case file, "there's a new lead on the Schlechtes Leben case."
Emily tensed up.
"Take Kennex and Dorian to investigate." Maldonado ordered.
Emily nodded.
"What's up?" John asked upon seeing Emily's distress.
"Schlechtes Leben, or Bad Life in German, is a highly powerful gang, specializing in illegal arms and explosives dealing, and are responsible for numerous heists and bombings." Emily explained as the three walked out of the precinct.
"Bombings?" John asked as he got into the passenger seat of the car.
"Yes." Emily got into the driver's seat.
"You lost your legs and arm in an explosion, right?" Dorian spoke up from the back seat.
Emily nodded as they pulled out on the street.
"Wait, an explosion?" John looked at Emily.
"Yeah. Like you." Emily answered quietly.
"Oh." John nodded.
"I was in a coma for 11 months." Emily added.
"And Schlechtes Leben was behind the bombing?" John asked.
Emily nodded, frowning a little, as her hands tightened on the wheel.
"Okay." John stayed quiet.
"It was a Schlechtes Leben bombing." Emily echoed, finishing the conversation.
Then they arrived at the crime scene.
"Holy shit." Emily muttered under her breath as she parked the car, peering out of the windshield.
It was a 12 story building, with a gaping hole on the top floors. The local fore department was there, smothering any fires that remained and emergency crews tended to the wounded.
From what Emily could tell, a team or a single member from Schlechtes Leben infiltrated the building, which was a weapons research facility, planted an explosive, grabbed sensitive data and ran. There were at least 25 people dead, 30 more were injured and 10 were in critical condition.
"Dorian, start taking pictures. John, talk to law enforcement. I'll get witness statements." Emily ordered.
Both nodded and the trio split up.
Emily went to the ambulances first. She flashed her badge at the medics, who nodded her on. She asked if they had seen any suspicious, but no one did. There was an ambulance with someone being loaded in. Emily ran over and stopped them.
"I'm Detective Emily Clark. I need to ask you a few questions." She told the person on the stretcher.
"Detective, this man needs to be moved to a hospital immediately." A medic urged.
"He has a gunshot wounds in his legs after an explosion. Tell me that's not relevant." Emily countered.
The medic huffed, but allowed her to question the man.
The man was middle-aged, average height and weight, average everything. He was wearing a security guard uniform.
"Hey, what's your name?" Emily asked politely.
"Oliver Tavery." He answered.
"Hi, Oliver. I'm Detective Clark. I'm going to ask you a few questions, okay?"
Oliver grunted and nodded slightly.
"Did you see who planted the explosives?"
A nod.
"Did you try to stop them?"
A nod.
"And they fire at you?"
A nod.
"How many?"
Two fingers.
"Did the bomb look like a bunch of wires or a lot of explosive material packed together?"
Two fingers. The latter.
"Did you run away and they shot at you?"
A nod.
"Can you describe the men?"
A nod.
Then, a convulsion of sorts.
"He's lost too much blood!" The medic shouted to another. "Move him!" They pushed the gurney into the ambulance. "I'm sorry, Detective. He's going in for surgery immediately."
"I need a rendition for an identification." Emily argued.
"The man is barely conscious!" The medic urged.
"That's enough consciousness to get words out. I'm riding in the back and that's final." Emily crossed her arms.
"Get the hell in." The medic hissed.
Emily got in.

Wish me luck as I start school this year! (cries endlessly) I hope it won't effect my updating!
