Hello everyone! Sorry for the long wait. We continue now with John's search for Emily (again)!

Enjoy.

"Okay, what do we know?" John asked, all members of the precinct in his gaze.

No one made a sound.

"Come on, people! This is a kidnapped officer we're talking about!" John yelled.

"Her car was found at the site of two recent crimes." Someone answered bravely.

"She accessed police files of recent female dismemberments." Another added.

"On the camera feeds, the suspect who took her left fingerprints on the ground and building walls." The first one added.

"Forensics have analyzed them and there are no hits in any databases." A third chimed in.

"Go back to the files she accessed. Which one was the oldest?" John asked, pacing along the floor.

"A woman found without her head four days ago. Blood identified her as Jennifer Davidson. She worked part time as a national park ranger southeast of here." A detective answered.

"That park forest is isolated. Are there any structures within it?" John asked.

"Besides the ranger office, only two. One is a seasonal cabin unused for five years, but the other is unregistered." Someone else answered.

"Kennex, take a look at this." One investigator pulled up news feeds on the big TV screen.

John looked over at the screen to see a news report.

"There have been reports of an explosion deep within the Cowan National Park. Rangers have given a statement saying that it is unknown the source or cause of the explosion, or the number of casualties at this point in time. Investigations are being launched-"

John waved a hand and the investigator shut off the news report. "I want satellite images on that explosion."

People furiously typed on their keyboards.

"Got it!" Someone called out, the satellite images appearing on the big screen.

It showed a small fire around where a cabin used to be, surrounded by trees and about five miles away from the ranger office.

"Is this the seasonal cabin?" John asked.

"Uh…" One detective paused. "No, actually. It must be the unregistered one."

"Pan out to the other cabin." John ordered.

Buttons were pressed and the image changed. There was the cabin, supposedly abandoned.

"What's that?" John asked, touching the screen.

"The chimney? Um…" The detective zoomed in. "Is that smoke?"

"Someone's set a fire that's letting out a lot of smoke." John smiled a little. "We found her."

A sense of relief flooded the room.

"Alright!" John gained everyone's attention again. "I want a full tactical team ready in five minutes. Get me drones in the air and sniffers on the ground. Coordinate with the rangers. I want a full layout of the land by the time we get there. I want to know who we're dealing with, so find everything you can on the suspect." John finished.

No one moved.

"Let's go!" John yelled.

Everyone burst into action.

XxXxX

"Go for Kennex." John answered his comm call while he and Dorian drove to the national park. The tactical team they called in flanked them on all sides. Drones flew overhead, already rushing to the park.

"We found some information on our mystery man." It was Rudy.

"Go ahead." John replied.

"There was a run in with the rangers about a year ago. One of their rangers was confronting a man for discharging a gun during off-season. The man assaulted the ranger out of anger. The rangers had his DNA taken but never tested and took down his fingerprints but never added them to their system because the assault charge was dropped." Rudy paused for a breath. "But get this. The ranger who was assaulted was Jennifer Davidson."

"Alright." John spoke up. "Thanks."

"Call me when you get Emily, please!" Rudy begged. "Okay?"

"Of course." John answered.

"Thank you! Thank you thank you!" Rudy praised.

John hung up.

The rescue team eventually arrived at the ranger office, who had already been contacted about the situation. All the rangers were at the ready, tactical suits on and guns loaded.

"I'm Don O'Brien, Head Ranger. You must be Detective Kennex." Ranger O'Brien stepped forward.

"Yes, I am." John shook his hand. "Thank you for your full cooperation."

A squad of drones flew overhead.

John loudened his voice. "I've got a unit of sniffers I want to send out with some of your rangers."

O'Brien nodded and waved a hand. A set of rangers split away and joined the sniffer unit. They moved into the trees, the sniffers already catching traces of a trail.

"That unregistered cabin you've had yours eyes on exploded earlier." John added and O'Brien nodded. "Our officer was in there and escaped. She went to the abandoned seasonal cabin you have."

O'Brien gave another nod. "We'll take you there and provide back up. I'll dispatch a unit to the explosion site to investigate."

John nodded towards Dorian. "I'll have an officer go with you."

Everyone moved into action. John was back in his car and the tactical team was locked and loaded. Rangers piled into the vehicles, ready to help. O'Brien pointed out where to go from the passenger seat. As John barreled down the dirt road, Dorian quickly made his way with the rangers to the site of the exploded cabin.

Dorian picked through the rubble and eventually found stairs to a basement. After assuring himself the structure wasn't going to collapse in on him, he went down into the basement. Through the dust and wood splinters, he could see an overturned and broken medical table, with instruments strewn across the floor. There was a dry patch of blood on the floor. But what shocked Dorian the most was the… inhuman woman who laid on the other table. She was stitched together like a rag doll.

Dorian called John.

"What do you got?" John asked.

"The man, the suspect? He was putting together a woman." Dorian explained. "Literally, though. He pieced together different body parts all from women he murdered. It seems like he would laser them off and stitch them together."

John shivered. "Gross." He paused. "Thanks. We're at the other cabin. I'll call you."

"Thanks." Dorian hung up.

"Right here." O'Brien stopped John. "The cabin's one mile south through those trees."

"Got it." John answered as he jumped out. "I want a squad coming in from the left and one from the right. I want two rangers with each squad. I'll lead one straight forward through the trees." John ordered.

People nodded.

Then, a gunshot. Some ducked, others raised their guns. John turned to see what the commotion was. He held his arm out, standing down everyone.

"Emily?" John was surprised to see Emily standing there in the road, one arm upward, her gun pointed to the sky. She fired her gun again and again and again, out of anger, but she was already out of bullets. Her other arm, her synthetic arm, was missing. One leg was stuck straight. She had sticky, dark red blood coming from the back of her head. She had tiny cuts on her cheeks, most likely from the tree branches. Her tank top was covered in dry blood. Her hair was a mess, her bangs hanging in front of her eyes. She lowered her arm, breathing heavily.

"Get me the fuck outta here." Emily looked pissed as hell. "And find that bastard and kill him." She ordered.

John nodded, letting out an almost approving smile. "Alright! The officer is secured! Focus is now on getting the suspect!" John yelled.

"Six feet tall, average build, brown hair, beard, dark clothes." Emily added her description.

The rangers and members of the tactical team nodded and headed into the trees. John came up to Emily.

"Are you okay?" He asked, concerned.

"I'm fine." Emily answered. She handed her gun to him. John held it, unsure of what to do with it. Emily slowly reached over and disconnected her ruined prosthetic arm. She handed that over to John. She put her hand on her bullet wound. She sighed. "Thank you." She kissed John, longingly and lovingly. She gave his cheek a pat and hobbled towards one of the big tactical assault vehicles. She lowered herself down into the open back of one of them.

Two field medics came around to her and pulled out a makeshift military gurney. They supported Emily as they slowly laid her down on it. The medics rolled the gurney into the open back of the vehicle and started to close the doors. John rushed up to Emily.

"Dorian thought that guy was building a human?" John asked.

Emily nodded. "A wife for himself."

John didn't know how to answer.

"Crazy nut." Emily commented.

"I'm glad you're okay." John lightly smiled.

"Me too." Emily put her head back.

"We gotta go." One of the medics butted in. "We'll airlift her to Grange Hospital."

John nodded and they shut the doors. John caught a glimpse of a thumbs-up from Emily. A third team member drove the vehicle away.

John called Dorian.

"Yes?" Dorian eagerly answered.

"We got her. Looking for the suspect now." John answered.

Dorian let out a sigh of relief. "Thank you, John."

John hung up and called Rudy, who expressed much more excitement than Dorian and thanked John profusely.

John put Emily's empty gun and dismembered arm part into the trunk of his car. He pulled out his semi-automatic rifle and slung the strap over his shoulder.

John quickly headed into the trees to find the bat-shit crazy man who hurt Emily.

He was on the hunt for revenge.

John eventually found the rangers and tactical team and weaved through the trees with them. He stayed a step back, watching everyone's backs. He heard a sound and swiveled around to investigate. He looked through the scope on his gun and switched on the thermal vision. He panned back and forth, looking for the source of the sound. He saw someone's head peeking out from behind a tree.

"Let me see yours hands!" John yelled forcefully, stepping towards him.

The rangers and tactical team turned and pointed their guns along John's line of sight, backing him up all the way. The person stepped out from behind the tree. It was the man Emily described. He had a shotgun and raised it up, ready to fire.

John let out a single shot.

A flock of birds escaped from the trees and flew away into the sunrise.
