Disclaimer: I don't own Naruto. This isn't canon, and probably isn't even a favorite crack pairing, so that should be proof enough.
Note: I'm really liking this pairing. Why, I don't particularly know, but it works. Hope you like; ish my second oneshot for this duo, so please R&R!
Yakusoku
Kyuubi Seitenshi
If anyone ever found out, she'd be a dead woman. Really, she would. Honestly, what was she supposed to say?
She was sleeping with an S-class criminal, for heaven's blessed sake!
Her teammates were some of the most successful and renowned in Konoha. She was personal friends with the future Rokudaime Hokage. She knew most every respectable shinobi in the entire village by name, and for what?
Her future was hanging by a bare thread.
"Ten-chan, you okay?"
A subconscious shiver went down her spine at his sultry whisper. Breaths ghosted over her ear and down the side of her throat temptingly.
"I'm find… Deidara."
Sapphire orbs eyed at her questioningly, but he said nothing. He probably knew by now what was bothering her. And it wasn't really her fault that it had to bother her at all; it was his.
Because… when they were young, they made a promise. There was only seven years' difference between the two of them, after all. And she had been orphaned those long years ago.
She was Tenten. The Weapons Mistress of Konohagakure. But when she was little, she was only Tenten, an orphan from Iwagakure with no talent as a kunoichi at all. They had met there. At 14, he was preparing for the ANBU exams, and had been pouring over a book while walking down the street. They'd… crashed into one another… while she was running from a couple of bullies.
With her flushed, childish face, wide, frightened eyes, and rumpled hair… she was altogether endearing in all senses. And he had saved her. They became friends.
And then it had happened. He killed the Sandaime Tsuchikage. Half his squad. Half his family. For what? He… didn't remember anymore. Unable to stay, and unable to leave her, he whisked her away into the night, and eventually came to the gates of Konoha…
"I'll see you again, won't I Deidara-kun?" she'd asked, and he'd smiled forlornly, and nodded. Kneeling before her, he'd embraced her fragile form, and then pulled back a little to look her in the eye.
"Will you promise me something, Ten-chan?"
"Hai!"
"Promise… you'll wait for me. That I'll be the only one you love. Okay?"
"Always! I promise, Deidara-kun!"
He regretted that promise, and knew she did, too, even if they really did love each other the most. A year ago, after the Akatsuki had been torn apart by Naruto and all those who fought with him, they had gotten married in secret. As always, he had avoided the fight, since she was present. His self-destructing doll was enough to convince the others that he had died, although she knew differently. After all, he had taught her much of what she knew.
"Ten-chan… do you regret loving me?" Her form stiffened, and she immediately flipped over to look him in the eye. He returned her gaze, a little sad. A little… lonely, perhaps.
Because he really had waited. Truly had loved her. With all his dark, bloodstained, broken heart, he loved her! And her eyes questioned him in grieving shock, tearing his heart into even smaller pieces. A kiss, though, was what followed; strong and reassuring, promising… promising…
Aishiteru…
AN: Che, nothing scarily inspiring, but it's a nice piece of fluffiness for my new obsession. (grins) Please enjoy and review the little insanity, minna!
