Just cried for the very first time after For Good…weird, I know. And I've heard it about one hundred times by now. Ha hah. Well, I really wanted to write this down, so…enjoy!
Disclaimer: Do I look like someone who could have created this masterpiece? No, I didn't think so.
Two Best Friends
Glinda the Good sat on the edge of her bed, face in her hands, crying. "Elphie…Oh, Elphie…!"
She was gone. Her very best friend was gone. And now the impact was hitting her full force.
She was the new ruler of Oz.
The Wizard was gone.
Morrible was in prison.
Fiyero was long dead.
And Elphaba, the Wicked Witch of the West, had just died only hours ago.
There sat the Grimmerie in her lap. She sniffed and wiped her eyes before slowly opening the book to a random page.
She couldn't read it. She knew she couldn't. But she tried. For Elphaba.
She flipped through many pages, and then one caught her attention.
An envelope was in the Grimmerie.
And it was addressed to her.
She slowly lifted the paper and opened it, being extremely careful. Once opened, she gasped.
The letters were written in Elphaba's unmistakable scrawl.
Dear Glinda,
Are you okay? I hope so. If you're crying, please stop. You're Glinda the Good. You should be happy, lifting people's spirits. If you're reading this, it means that I am gone. I'll leave it at that. Fiyero is safe. I can only say that much. I'm sorry. You're still crying, aren't you? Glinda, its okay. I'm okay. And I hope that you are, too. Please remember not to clear my name. I know you have a ton of questions, but you'll just have to forget about them and keep living. For both of us. Okay? I love you, Glinda. You're my only friend I've ever had…My BEST friend. I am incredibly thankful for that. And…thank you, for changing me. For Good.
You're best friend,
Elphaba Thropp
P.S. Never forget me. I know I'll never forget you.
You'd think that after that letter, Glinda would be crying hysterically. But instead, she obeyed Elphaba's wishes.
And as she slept that night, a smile that she wasn't even aware of appeared on her face.
Because in her dreams, she saw Elphaba, Fiyero, Nessarose, and Boq. They were all together. Friends. Back at Shiz. And the part that made her smile was Elphaba laughing and smiling, something she RARELY did at Shiz. And then she turned to her and smiled.
"Two best friends…"
And then Elphaba held her hand, lacing their fingers together.
And then her smile grew.
And then she spoke a word that Glinda the Good hadn't heard in over three years.
"…Galinda."
