Disclaimer: I do not own any of the characters. The all-powerful Masashi Kishimoto does.
Warning: There will be a lot of abuse, violence, gore and other generally scary things. Character death later on.
This is my first fanfiction and I've already got the next two chapters finished. I'm following a bit of The Amityville Horror with some of my own imagination for the storyline. This is just a prologue to introduce the later chapters, so it's dreadfully short, but the next chapter should be much longer. Please read and review - I would absolutely adore feedback! :D
From outside the dilapidated old Uchiha residence, all anyone could ever hear at night were the cries of a family being slaughtered. Every night as scheduled, the agitated shouts of a man and the terror-stricken weeping of a young woman would signal the 30 minute recap of what happened on that dreadful stormy night. At the end would come the most horrible, heart-wrenching shriek that made every mother fall to her knees and cry - the blood-curdling scream of a little boy dying at the hands of his older brother. Because the ANBU did a marvelous job of erasing evidence and devising a good cover story, the villagers just assumed it was the constant creaking of a rusty gate or some aggravated animal. No sane person ever passed the house directly in fear that the stories would come true... except one. He ghosted past the house every night, waiting for the perfect chance to return to the scene of his ghastly crime.
The teenage boy who committed the murders of his parents and brother was reported a suicide by the ANBU to keep things under control. They didn't want the village to panic, of course, so they filled a body bag with blankets and called it a corpse. No one ever actually found Itachi, but there were rumors. Yes, there were many rumors... despite the fact that the family died over 20 years ago, stories of the crimson-eyed demon who mercilessly murdered his family kept travelers from stopping in Konoha. Some people went as far as telling ghost stories or faking hallucinations, but no evidence supported that the killer Uchiha was seen. Anyone who did catch a glimpse of the phantom teen in the forest surrounding the old house was reported missing after 24 hours. No body would ever be discovered.
Many of the kids who were dared by their peers to find their way through the maze of thick vines and thorny underbrush at the Uchiha property were recovered by a special tracker dog in the morning. The usual fatal wounds included bites, lacerations and burns, yet there were never scorch marks on the surrounding leaves of small trees or overgrown bushes. Again, the ANBU dismissed every single one as a campfire accident that made the children delirious enough to step through the gates and into the yard in the first place. As for the brave ones who made it inside the house, many never made it past the apparition of the bloody, beaten eight-year-old boy who just wanted someone to play with.
