A/N: This is Elricest! Don't like, don't read. It's as simple as that.

Edward Elric stared up at the stars, much like he did every night he could. Every night, every day, he could only think of where his brother was, what his brother was doing. He wondered if Al was trying to get back to him as much as he was desperately trying to do the same. Somewhere, deep down, he knew the real reason he wanted to get back to Al ... but it was just way too easy to pretend those feelings didn't exist ... never existed. After all, no one would question why he thought of his brother so much ... would they?

I miss you ... been far away for far too long.

I keep dreaming you'll be with me and you'll never go.

Ed didn't know that very moment, his brother was doing the same thing. Ed was always the only thing on Al's mind. He knew that someday they'd get back to each other. They had to. It was just wrong, after all they had been through together to not believe that eventually they would finally meet again. And get to be with each other forever. ... At least Al wished that would happen. He still had his own doubts, that he hid. Would Ed want to be with his little brother forever? Would his idolized older brother really be content to simply spend the rest of his life like that? What if Ed had found a girlfriend? What if ... There were just too many unanswered questions and Al didn't know what to do about it.

I'd withstand all of hell to hold your hand.

I'd give it all, I'd give for us, give anything but I won't give up.

The pair really did have to go through hell to see each other again ... but it was worth it. It was worth it for each of them. At the time, neither of them could admit what they were feeling, no matter how hard they tried. They were left with empty glances, wishful thinking and broken hearts. It was wrong, they had been told that their entire lives. You can't be in love with ... you just can't. Each told himself that and tried to let go of the feelings they had both harbored for so long. But it just wasn't that easy.

I need to hear you say that I love you, I have loved you all along.

And I forgive you for being away for far too long.

It wasn't until that one night when Ed and Al were sitting up talking until late, like usual. They were still as close as before, closer even. But somehow the conversation turned to the future. Turned to where'd they be or what they'd be doing. If they would stay together. If they would each meet someone and marry them ...

"I don't know, Al ... I just don't know."

"Don't you want to meet a pretty girl and marry her, brother?"

" ... I don't want to be apart from you ever again, Al. I couldn't stand it."

"..." Al said nothing as he thought of what Ed meant by that.

"I don't want anyone to come between us."

Al looked up and found Ed couldn't meet his gaze. His brother's face was red, he could tell even though it was dark. Although his own hand was shaking, he reached over and took Ed's hand in his.

"Brother ... " his voice shook too.

"Al?"

"I love you."

So keep breathing cause I'm not leaving you anymore.

Believe it. Hold on to me and never let me go.
