The Paradigm Shift- Part 2
A/N: Thanks so much for the reviews! I had no idea that Leonard fics were so contentious.
Penny knew two things for sure: she wasn't having an abortion and that there was no way she would be able to keep this from Leonard. Sometime, in the past few weeks, she'd fallen in love with the geeky physicist. She grabbed her keys and purse and headed for Cal Tech.
She reflected on her current situation on the way. She didn't have insurance and her acting career was virtually non-existent. She needed a back up plan in case things didn't work out with Leonard in the long run, and school was the only option. She could look into online classes or maybe Community College in Pasadena. She parked her car and made her way to Leonard's lab.
He was working on his own with the door open. Since the day with the holographs, she loved to watch him work; the passion for it was etched on his features. Features that had merged with her own and would produce the most beautiful baby to ever draw breath.
"Hey," she called from the door way.
"Hey you; what a nice surprise," he smiled as he waved her in. He pulled her into his arms and gave her a hug and kiss. "What are you doing here?"
Penny took a deep breath. "I needed to talk to you alone," she explained.
"Sounds ominous," Leonard replied in a nervous tone. He pulled over two lab stools and sat down, motioning her to do the same.
"Life changing for sure,' she said as she sat down. "I'm not sure if there's a right way to say this so I'm going to just go ahead and do it. Leonard, I'm pregnant."
Leonard looked at her for a few seconds before his face split into a huge grin.
"You're pregnant?"
"I took the test this morning," she answered. 'How could I have ever doubted him,' she thought.
"That's fantastic!" he exclaimed as he hugged her. "She's going to be smart and beautiful."
"Leonard, I'm having the baby and I'm going to keep it."
"Did you think I wouldn't…"
"Maybe; we haven't been back together very long…"
"Penny, if this is what you want, I will be there every step of the way. I'm settled and I have a good job. Do you want this? You're career is going to have to go on hold for a bit."
"Leonard, I'm never going to be an actress. I've done one play over a bowling alley and one commercial. I think I want to go back to school."
"That would be awesome for you Penny. I mean it; I'm there financially for you two as well. Does this mean we're having a baby?"
"Dr. Hofstadter, you are going to be a Daddy."
