Summary: Say realizes some things while she sleeps.

Love doesn't heal death

Saya's POV

There are a few things she has learned during her lifetime. One of these things is that no matter how young she looks, she is very old. She also knows that those around her will continue to age and suffer through the effects of time. But she herself will stand idly by, watching and never aging. The most important thing that she has learned through her long life is that love doesn't heal death.

When she had released Diva from her tower, she didn't know what she'd do. Diva had killed Joel and all those people. Even though she had loved them with all of her heart, she couldn't bring them back.

Even when her adoptive father had died, mixing his blood with her own to spare him the fate of a chiropteran, she had loved him. George had been the only father, besides Joel, who she had ever known. Her love for him hadn't eased the pain of his passing.

Even her younger brother Riku had tasted death…TWICE! He had been saved the first time when she had given him some of her blood, binding him to her forever. The second time he couldn't have been saved because Diva had given him her blood and he died almost instantaneously. The love that she and Kai had felt for Riku hadn't dulled their pain.

Even Diva, her own sister, hadn't deserved to die. No matter what Diva had done in the past she had still tried to save her. All Diva had wanted was a family and now her daughters, Hibiki and Kanade, would never get to their mother. The love of Diva's daughters and she herself could not bring back Diva.

The most painful death she had experienced however was that of Hagi. Dying in the opera house destruction, Hagi had loved her and she had loved him. Their love for each other, which had lasted through centuries, wouldn't bring him back though. Tears streamed down her face as she slept, the memory of all the lost ones haunted her.

No one's POV

Outside the crypt, Hagi set a pink rose on the step. "I will wait for you Saya…always," he said. He turned and walked away. He needed to see how Hibiki and Kanade were doing with Kai.

Saya's POV

She had heard Hagi's voice and smiled. Love didn't doesn't heal death. But it seems that love that surpassed the centuries seemed to do the trick.
