After a VERY long time I am finally able to get another chapter out. I don't know why it's taken me this long seeing how I know exactly how I want this to pan out. Anywho! Enjoy :)

Everlong chapter 3:

Lennet continued to sit on Melfina's bed, she wasn't quite sure what to do. She rubbed her hands together, a little cold from not having on much clothing. She started thinking about Tony and if he were still alive. And if he was how old would he look like? Lennet prayed that he brother was safe; she prayed that she would be safe here with these people. Where did she have to go though? Nowhere. These people were her only ticket out of that floating prison cell. Just then the young woman named Melfina walked into the room with a few candy bars and fruit snacks in one hand and a glass of water in the other. She set them down on the dresser next to the bed and sat down with Lennet. "It's nice to meet you. I'm Melfina and Gene tells me you are Lennet...right?" Lennet nodded her head. "Oh good." said Melfina. "I brought you some food if you are hungry and water." Lennet nodded and again and grabbed for the chocolate crunch bar. She was so hungry she ate it in just a couple of bites and then reached for the water and gulped that down too. "We don't have much right now," explained Melfina. "Gene and Jim can work up such an appetite sometimes.
Lennet cleared her throat. "Jim?"
"Oh! Excuse me. You don't know who Jim is yet, do you. Jim is about you age...OH! How old are you? I'm sorry."
Lennet smiled just a little and was about to answer...Just how old WAS she? "I...I'm not...sure." she told Melfina.
"Ah. And I suppose you don't know how long you were in there huh?" Lennet shook her head, tears forming in her eyes. Melfina saw this right away and got all flustered. "Oh, uh...Please don't cry. I'm sorry if I said something to upset you." Lennet just shook her head and grabbed for another candy bar. She sobbed a bit while eating it, sniffing, trying not to let her nose run.

Lennet was upset because she could hardly remember anything. She had no idea where she was, how long she had been asleep, or where he brother...if he was still alive that is. "I'm very sorry." Melfina apologized again.
"It's...not your fault." Lennet told her. "I just can't...remember anything."
"Oh...I see. That must be really tough. No worries though!" Melfina's mood suddenly changed. "Eight years ago, Gene helped me remember who I was." she giggled a little. "You know, you're kind of like how I was back then, Lennet. Don't worry. The three of us, Gene, Jim and myself will help you remember." This made Lennet feel better. "I never did tell you about Jim, did I?" said Melfina. "Like I said, Jim is about your age, nineteen. He's very nice young man. At times I wish Gene had more of Jim's patients." she giggled again a bit. "And then there is Geliem. He helps navigate our ship."
"What is he like?" Lennet asked.
Melfina smiled. "He's a small robot. Gene can't stand him at times." she laughed a bit.

Being around Melfina made Lennet feel better. Her cheerfulness was what made it possible. "Also, I see that you are wearing my sweater."
Lennet looked down and then back up at Melfina. "Is that...alright?" she asked.
"Of course. In fact, I have some pajama pants you can wear too." Melfina walked to her small dresser and pulled out some blue flannel pajama pants. "Do you need...underwear?" asked Melfina. Lennet hadn't really thought about it and patted her upper thigh feeling no underwear there. Her eyes went wide for a second and she blushed, shaking her head. "That's ok." said Melfina and she took out a pair of white panties with cherries on them. "I'll leave you to changing. I have to get back to the others. We're heading home and they can't fly they ship without me. So don't worry...just relax."

Lennet tried to do as Melfina said: just relax. But it was almost impossible. Lennet was too worried. Even though she was no longer cold or as hungry, something inside made her worry and not just for her brother. She sat cross-legged on the bed, thinking. It was completely quiet and she was deep in thought. She was trying to remember the last thing that ever happened to her before she woke up. "C'mon you stupid brain...THINK!" Suddenly the number seventeen popped into her head. What was so important about number seventeen? Just then she remembered taking a test, a face of a scared girl until all of a sudden a flash of images went through her mind within seconds. She wasn't sure what she was seeing but it was better than nothing. The next thing Lennet saw the floor and she face planted on it with a loud THUD! No one came in to check on her though, they were all too busy flying the ship.

Lennet sat up and rubbed her chin where she had taken the most damage. Least it did not hurt too much. She got back on the bed and curled herself underneath the covers. She would sleep for now, hoping that when she woke up she would be back at home and this strange place would be gone, or at least if that did not happen (wishful thinking) she hoped to have at least remembered more about herself.

When lennet awoke she saw Melfina hovering above her through drowsy eyes. "Wha...?"
"It's me, Melfina. Time to get up. Were back in Sentinel."
"Sentinel...? What...who...?" she sat up, rubbing her eyes as she spoke.
Melfina giggled a little. "Were home, uh...We've returned to where the three of us live." Lennet yawned and nodded to this, taking it into consideration. "I've set some close aside for you to wear outside. The weather is nice so wearing what you have on would be a little too warm, I think. I'll be waiting just outside the room for you." Melfina told her this and walked out. Lennet rubbed her eyes some more, getting rid of all the sleep in her eyes. She yawned again and moved her legs over the side of the bed. She looked to the dresser, seeing a small pile of clothes on the desser. Lennet stretched before standing up, taking in a heavy sigh. She walked over to the clothes and saw white sandals sitting on top of everything. Lennet put the sandals on the bed and reached for what looked to a small white, lace bra. She took off her shirt and quickly put the lacy bra on. It was bigger than her boobs but not wearing a bra was out of the question, she was just happy the bra wasn't patted, giving people a false reading of her cup size. She then picked up a pink shirt with a chibi cloud in the middle of it. She smiled at it, thinking how cute it was. Once she put on the shirt she stripped of her pants and grabbed the blue shorts. It was a good thing Melfina gave her a rope belt, otherwise the shorts would not have stayed on. Sleeping for God only knows how long, Lennet had lost a lot of weight. She would need to eat plenty of healthy foods to bulk up and look decent. After she had dressed she picked up the white sandals and slipped them on. Surprisingly Melfina's feet were only half a size bigger, so walking around in them would be fairly easy.

As Lennet walked out she saw Melfina standing just as she said she would, a cheerful smile on her face. "Aw! You look cute!"
Lennet put her face down a little and blushed. "T-thank you."
Melfina started walking soon after that and Lennet walked to catch up with her. "Gene and Jim are already outside waiting for us." Lennet nodded to this as they stepped on into a mini elevator. "Hold on." said Melfina and Lennet grabbed on to a rail to her let side. As they went Lennet started to see the ground from outside. "I really hope you like it here." said Melfina.
Lennet nodded once. "Yeah...me too." When the two of them reached outside the small elevator went back up and the door to the ship closed. "This way." Melfina led Lennet down a couple of stares and sure enough Gene and Jim were waiting for them both.
"Bout time!" Gene said, joking.
"Heh. Sorry. Lennet was getting ready and someone needed to wait for her." she gave Gene a look. "Besides, I would not want to leave her alone with Geliam."
Jim laughed. "Yeah, you're probably right."

Gene itched his head and yawned. "Man am I tired! I need some food first."
Jim raised a brow and crossed his arms. "Oh really? With what money? That junk we scooped up and will be selling will all be going Fred."
"Gah! Don't remind me" Gene scratched his head even harder now and Melfina laughed. "What? Mel? Not you too!"

Lennet could tell that they were all a lively bunch and hoped she would be able to get along with all of them.
"Where should we eat?" Jim asked, putting his arms behind his head.
Gene was about to say something but Melfina cut him on by accident. "Maybe we should let lennet decide."
All eyes went on Lennet as she tried to think of something to eat. "Uh...uhm. I'm not sure. How about...something sweet?"
Jim nodded. "We can start with dessert first."
Melfina laughed. "That's sounds good, actually."
Lennet then added, "And so does meat. Yes...definitely something with meat."
"Alright!" said Gene. "You heard the girl, let's go get some meat! A steak sounds so damn good right now."
Jim coughed and cleared his throat. "What makes you think we can afford steak?"
"Ah, don't give me that crap!"
Jim pointed a finger at him. "If anyone is getting steak it's going to be Lennet."
Gene so badly wanted to say something back but cursed under his breath instead. "Ok fine, lets go get this girl some meat."
"But first dessert," Melfina said with a smile.

The four sat down at an ice cream shop outside underneath an umbrella eating their dessert. Melfina had a banana split with chocolate, Jim got himself a chocolate ice cream, Gene had himself a vanilla milkshake with whip cream and Lennet chose a chocolate dish with a cherry on top.
"This is totally hitting the spot!" Jim said, stretching. "I'd go for another one but then I wouldn't be hungry for some real food."
Lennet nodded. "Me too." she agreed.
"Whoa!" said Gene. "She spoke!"
Melfina lightly tapped him on the shoulder. "Gene!" she scolded him. "You're acting like a child, Gene."
Jim laughed. "I think that ice cream is getting to him." Lennet glanced over at Jim and thought he was kinda cute the way he laughed and smiled, but she had no idea what kind of person he really was, plus she had just woken up from years of sleeping. She may look his age but she's way older than him.
"So who's ready for some good food?" Melfina asked. "Looks like everyone's done." The four got up and put their things in the trash and headed to get their main dish.

Lennet was hoping to go to a fancy place to dine, but she knew they didn't have much so the most they could offer her was a cheap diner called 'Deans'. The place had a nice atmospher and the people who populated it looked like a friendly bunch. Over all, the whole place looked like family diner.
"This place makes me feel uncomfortable..." Gene grumbled.
"Stop being such a...such a..." Jim started but had a hard time trying to find the right words to say.
"Debby-Downer?" Lennet finished.
"Yes! A debby-Downer."
"I'm not being a Debby-Downer!" said Gene. "I'm just saying what's on my mind."
Melfina opened her menu. "I think this place is cute." she commented. "Don' you?" she said, looking at Lennet. Lennet nodded. "See?" said Melfina. "This place is good."
"Yeah? Well how's their food?" Gene said.
"Our food?" an unfamiliar voice said. The four looked up to see their waiter. "How would you like to try our special of the day?"
Gene swallowed hard. "Uhm...and that would be?"
"Potato soup with bacon bits." the waiter smiled thinly.
"I'll take that then." Gene said.
"And me!" added Jim.
"That sounds good. Mmm, bacon bits!" Melfina said. She then looked to Lennet. "What will you have?"
Lennet thought for a second if she should order something from the menu just to break the cycle of the soup odering but the soup did sound really good. "I guess I'll have the soup too." she told the waiter. "Oh! And could I have just a hamburger patty...nothing else?"
"Sure!" said the waiter. "Is that everything then? What about for drinks?"
"Water." Gene quickly said. "We'll all have water."
"Alright then. I'll get your order placed right away."

When the soup came out and Lennet's patty everything was nice and hot, the steam waffing into the air, making everyone hungrier. While they slurped their soup, Lennet let hers cool a bit more and started eating her meat. The first bite she took was like heaven. She had almost forgotten what it was like to eat meat or even smell it. Lennet licked her finger that had held the patty in place as she cut it and then went for her soup. The bacon bits topped it off with her first bite and she closed her eyes, sniffing it again. It was quiet between everyone; even Gene seemed to be enjoying his meal. All that was heard were the slurps of soup leaving the spoon and the occasional tap-tap of the silverware on the glass bowels.
"If Aisha was here..." Gene suddenly said. "She'd eat all our food." Melfina chuckled and so did Jim.
"Aisha?" Lennet said.
Gene finished eating the remaining of his soup and set it down. "Aisha Clan-Clan...A C-tarl C-tarl. We met her what...eight years ago. Come to think of it...we haven't seen her for a while."
"I'd take that as a good thing." Jim commented.
"What's a C-tarl C-tarl?" Lennet was curious.

"A C-tarl C-tarl is beast that is part beast too. Their tempers are usually really high, er, well...they can be. Least Aisha's is. They're very strong and know how to fight pretty well. You'd definitely want one on your side in a fight."
"Oh wow...This Aisha girl sounds interesting. I'd like to meet her."
Melfina set her bowel down and turned towards Lennet. "Maybe someday you can."
Gene scoffed at the idea. "Yeah...maybe. If she ever decides to come back. After being demoted and then getting her job back I bet things are pretty crazy for her right now."
"Gene Starwind" Jim said in a teasing tone. "Do you care about Aisha?" he joked.
"Ah shut up!"

When dinner was done Lennet followed close behind Melfina as they all walked home. Lennet pictured their home to be small and close to others, but instead she saw a rather large garage tin door and next to it was a door. This can't possibly be where they live, she wondered. But sure enough this was their home and then they went through the door Lennet found it to be quite cozy looking. There was nice furnature and a glass coffee table laying over a black rug anf then there was a small kitchen area that seemed to have all the equipment in ready use.
"Ah! Home sweet Home!" Gene said rather loudly, kicking off his shoes to the side. Everyone else did the same and so Lennet decided to do the same. Lennet watched as Gene walked up a flight of stairs and into another room while Jim sat down in front of a computer and started typing away, looking as if he was speeding through emails. And then there was Melfina who checked to see if everything was in order. The kitchen was in tip top shape, the living room was clean (surprisingly) and then she checked the upstairs and closed the curtains. She looked down from th railing and said to Lennet, "If you like you can take the couch up here, or down there. Or you can chose one of our rooms to sleep in. It's up to you."
Jim quickly spun around in his chair. "I don't see any reason why she should sleep on the couch. She can take my room. I'll be up late replying to these emails and figuring out our next lead on money."
Melfina smiled. "Thank you, Jim. You're always so nice."
Lennet looked to Jim and nodded a thank you. "Ah it's no problem!" said Jim. "Make yourself comfortable, Lennet." He spun back around and continued to type.

Lennet walked up the stairs and followed Melfina to Jim's room. For a young man's room it was kind of tidy. Everything seemed to be put in a good place. Only a few clothes laid sprawled out on the floor and a candy wrapper on a night stand. Melfina sighed and picked up the remaining clothes up off the floor and the grabbed the candy wrapper while she was at it. "Don't mind the mess. I'll be back with some of my clothes for you to sleep in." Melfina walked out and Lennet continued to look about the room. Jim's bed was set next to a window with a white night stand next to it with a small lamp. As she sat down the bed squeaked a little and she bounced a little. The bed seemed old and well slept in but at the same time it was comfy and it didn't smell like a dirty, sweaty boy. The impression Lennet had of Jim was getting better: he wasn't a complete slob, he kept things pretty clean and he seemed to be on top of things when it came to money and overall he seemed like a pretty nice guy.

Melfina came back with white fuzzy pajama pants and a sky blue T-shirt. "I hope that will do for you."
Lennet nodded. "This is fine, thank you."
"No problem. Just let me know if you need anything else. And tomorrow we can go shopping for some clothes for you. It should be fun." she was just about to head out but Lennet called out to her.
"Melfina...? Really, thank you for everything and good night."
Melfina smiled. "Yes, good night." and with that she closed the door. Lennet put on her clothes and crawled into bed, the covers up close to her face. She closed her eyes, thinking, thinking of her past. She felt like crying but knew that she was in a safe place and knew that tomorrow would be a good day.
