Hey, look, another chapter. It's only been about seven months since the last chapter was posted. So, I apologize vastly. If I had remembered that this was already written and just needed to be typed, I would have done it six and a half months ago. So, many many apologies! I hope there is still someone who cares enough to read this!
Plus side: I actually know where I'm at, so I'll try my best to get the next chapter written quickly.
Edward:
With that, I was pulled out of my fog. "Winry."
She pulled back with a stern expression. "We were so worried. Granny and I heard about what happened. We thought you weren't coming back."
"Why are you here? How did you know where I was?" I turned back to the city outside.
"Ed! We've been looking for you for weeks!" She sighed a little, "Lieutenant Hawkeye called."
"Go home, then. You didn't need to come here." My tone sounded harsh even to my ears.
"Edward! Why are you always like this? I came to bring you home." She smiled, making everything so much harder.
"I'm not going."
"Of course you are. That's what I came for, so I'm not leaving without you." She grabbed my arm to pull me up, which I ignored. At least, until she stopped. She just paused everything for a moment, forcing my gaze to hers. "E-Ed... Y-your arm..." She lifted it up, pulling up my sleeve to see what her touch already told her.
I ripped my arm away, forcing my eyes back to the window.
"When did you get them back?" She almost sounded angry.
"It doesn't matter."
"It does!" Her scream jolted my head around. "What happened?"
I tugged my gloves further onto my hands, feeling insecure. She pulled at my sleeve to beg an answer. I jostled away, yanking my sleeve down.
"Why won't you answer?" Tears dropped. "I know Al is gone, and we miss him, too. But you still have us. You have Granny and me. So, please, Ed..."
I shook my head. There was no way I could tell her.
She stepped back. "Your dad came to visit us." The comment didn't even get her a glance. "He was the one who told us what happened. He told us that Al is part of the Philosopher's Stone. He said that you should have it. So, where is it, Ed?"
I didn't know what to say. She knew too much, and it scared me.
"You can tell me, Ed." She was begging for me to answer. A moment went by without anything.
"It's gone."
"Did you use it for your arm and leg?"
"...more than that." I turned to her. "I used it for a lot more than that." It was hard to retain my tears with reality finally slamming down on me.
She rushed over, "What do you mean? What are you talking about?"
I slipped off my glove, showing her the tattoo. "I devoured him, Winry. He's completely gone now."
Envy:
"What the hell?" I stepped into the room to see the girl in with Fullmetal. "What are you doing here?"
"You should leave, Winry." The pipsqueak began looking out the window.
"But, Ed, everyone's worried." She was really annoying.
"Just go. I'm fine."
I waited for her to leave the room. "Finally done sulking, Pipsqueak?" His glare was easily directed toward me. I tossed a couple stones onto the bed. "I brought a snack for you." He simply glanced at them before looking away.
I sighed a bit, "So, you're going to pout some more?" Still nothing. "What a waste of a stone." I was just about to turn for the door when he grabbed the front of my shirt in a fist.
"Ooh, scary." I rolled my eyes, pushing his hand away. "You're going to have to do a little better than that, Pipsqueak. I'm the master at making scary faces." He seemed to back down for a moment before launching a punch straight for my jaw.
I scrambled back a step, "Damn brat." I was lucky he didn't know how to use his shield yet. I noticed him going for another just in time. All it took was a moment of sizzling light to stop him dead in his tracks.
