Journal Entry
Quirrell has been much more beneficial than I had originally thought. He and I found the location of a magnificent artifact. It resided in a vault at Gringotts, and we planned to retrieve it today.
This artifact could very well be the key to my rise to power. It is the Philosopher's Stone. It will allow me to resume a human form and be immortal. This is just what I need to come back, although I will not be using the Stone forever. I will use it only to get my human form back.
Quirrell left in the afternoon, to blend in with the crowd at Diagon Alley. It has been such a long time since I have seen those streets, but I could not go with him. The risk was too high that someone would see me.
I told Quirrell to Imperius a goblin, who would allow him to take a cart down to the vault: vault 713. I do not know exactly what happened, but Quirrell returned after very little time, looking ashamed.
'What is it?' I snapped.
'My Lord,' he stuttered, 'the package was gone!'
I let out a scream of frustration. Someone had taken the Stone, and I could not have any idea as to where it was now. My plan had been foiled.
I had come to realise that Quirrell could never do for me what I could do for myself. He had made one mistake already; who was to say that he would not make another? I realised that I had to possess him, or he would never be able to fully do my bidding.
I did it at night, while he was asleep; I slipped inside his body. He screamed in pain as my face erupted through the back of his skull, but it was done. I could now fully control him.
I will find that Stone, whatever it takes. If I am to come back, the Stone is the key.
