Under the Starry Skies
A/N: Slight Spoilers from Deathly Hallows. It's just the names of the children, but they're still spoilers and so I figured I say that before you read it.
edit Whoops, Rose is older than Hugo...my bad, sorry about that guys and yes, James is her cousin, but she's just a little kid and thinks he's kind of cute and looks up to him. There's nothing more to it. James doesn't have a crush on her...etc...etc... Please R/R
"RON!!!" she yelled, her brown hair floating behind her in the cool breeze. "RON!" Hermione sighed when he didn't answer. "Rosey, go find your daddy okay?"
The little girl pulled herself off the hardwood floor and nodded quickly. A smile on her face, she ran from the kitchen and down the hall. "Daddy, Daddy!" she screamed excitedly as she moved from room to room. "Daddy! Daddy!" Her red hair, which had been meticulously braided only hours before, flew out in all directions as she ran out the front door.
Ron lay on the damp grass, his eyes staring up to the star filled sky. His hands behind his head, he sighed, muscles relaxing and his breathing slowing. He could hear the footsteps as they reached him, heavy and energetic. Smiling, he looked behind him. "Wotcher," he greeted, having picked up the term from Tonks all those years ago.
Rose smiled as she advanced quickly, her blue eyes flashing with delight. Jumping through the air, she landed across Ron's stomach. "Daddy!" she laughed as she heard a soft grunt escape her father's lips. "How come I can't go to Hogwarts like Hugo?" she asked, her eyes glazing with a touch of sadness. It vanished however as she snuggled closer to her father.
Ron smiled, as he kissed his daughter on her forehead. She was so much like his sister, spunky and proud. "Well, little Rosey, you're not quite old enough yet." She frowned sharply before Ron pulled her closer. "In a few years, you'll be able to go along with your brother."
Delight flickered across her face once more. "Really?" she questioned, "Do you mean it?"
"Of course I do" Ron said as he chuckled a bit. "You'll have tons of fun too. You'll learn to control your magic and meet new friends, and you'll be able to see James all you like!" Rose blushed, the color brining out her deep red hair.
"I do not LIKE JAMES POTTER!" she yelled as she pushed her father away from her. "I don't I DON'T I DON"T!"
Ron laughed as he tickled her and she continued to fight back. Laughter filled the still air, as the two rolled across the ground. "MOMMY HELP ME!" Rose screamed in fake terror.
The door opened slowly, revealing a smiling Hermione. Laughing, she walked through the front door and over toward her husband and daughter. "I thought you were going to get your dad to help me!" she scolded softly as she took a seat between them. Kissing Ron lightly, she smiled down at her daughter who had cozied up in her lap. Sighing, she rested her head on Ron's shoulder, and soon, just like her daughter, she fell asleep.
