A/N: This is part one of Heather and Valtiel's little adventure, can you guess where he's taking her?

Chapter 7:

Heather

With a raised eyebrow I follow behind Valtiel as he leads the way in and out of alley ways. Does he know where hes going? hes most likely been here his whole life so he'd have to know the town like the back of his hand, surely.

Hopefully.

We step out onto a street, and I can't tell where because there is more fog than usual. I sped up and kept close to Valtiel so I wouldn't loose him. I stare at his black boots as his legs take powerful strides along the asphalt path.

But suddenly I hear the faint sound of a third pair of footsteps, as they grow louder I notice from the patting sound they are barefoot and are taking uneven steps. I turned my head trying to find the source of the sound and was greeted with a lying figure following behind us. I instinctively shrieked and threw a hand out for the closest thing in reach which happened to be Valtiel's arm.

Valtiel flinched at the contact and turned around, he then noticed our visitor and bowed his head in a predatory stance. I backed up behind him and watched the situation unfold.

Valtiel

I was quietly leading Cheryl and I down a road when I felt her small hand suddenly grasp onto my arm.

Its then that I notice we are being followed. It was to be expected, you can only go so long in this town before stumbling upon a grotesque creature. Cheryl clings to me in fear as the armless being sprays acid from its chest into the open air.

I instantly became protective and proceeded to push Cheryl behind myself away from the toxic mist. I knocked the creature down with an easy throw of a fist, and as it hits the ground I am surprised by the sudden wave of relief.

I didn't have a second thought when I saw that lying figure threatening to harm Cheryl, my only thought was to execute the threat. How strange that she could have such an effect on me.

Turning around, I am met with another one of the armless beings. Can't I ever get a break? apparently not. It growls and a burst of acid shoots in my direction. I twisted away and stumbled backwards but I can feel the burning pain that hits my neck and left shoulder. I can hear the sizzling as it burns away part of the clothe covering my shoulder.

My neck is aching, a couple layers of skin has probably been burnt away. I shake my head frantically trying to shake the pain, I hear the creature coming closer, but theres another sound too.

I calm myself again and look just in time to see Cheryl bash the creature over the head with a plank of wood. Once, twice, three times. It collapses and she hurries over to me.

"My guardian angel" I say, and I am smiling on the inside. How unusual.

"...Not quite." she replies softly and wraps her hands around my arm, helping me stand straight.

I nod to her and she releases my arm. We begin walking again, around a corner away from the monsters that would most likely rise again. After a moment Cheryl stands infront of me, blocking my path. I tilt my head at her curiously.

"..Valtiel you were hurt, do you want to just call it a day?" she asks hesitantly.

Oh Cheryl. Is this poor girl worrying about my well being? I feel the warmth in my chest at the realisation that she must care about me on some level.

"Fortunately I am stronger than a human, hardly any harm was done I assure you." I replied with a hint of amusement.

Cheryl rolls her eyes and steps back, she gestures to the road ahead of us. "Lead the way"

"..Uhh.." Cheryl mutters as we step onto the pier.

I walk ahead, the old wood creaked and groaned under our weight as I made my way to the edge of the jetty where a row boat was waiting.

I jump down into the boat with a thud, it wobbles and I let it stable then turn to Cheryl offering my hand. Her eyebrow is raised as she looks down, most likely inspecting the distance from the pier and the boat.

She sits down on the edge of the jetty then pushes herself forward, lowering herself down onto the boat. I can't help but notice as the green denim of her skirt hikes up her thighs, revealing more of her delicious skin-

No! why am I thinking such thoughts? I must be going mad...

Cheryl lands in the boat beside me and her skirt falls down to its original position once more, I'm almost disappointed.

I sit down and Cheryl takes a seat in front of me as I pick up the oars and begin to push the boat through the waters of Toluca lake. A silence falls over us, and its awkward to say the least. The only sound is the water around us softly splashing against the aged boat.

"...Row row row your boat gently down the stream.."

I lift my head and listen as Cheryl sings softly whilst looking out into the dark water.

"...Merrily merrily merrily merrily...life is but a dream..."

"What is that?" I ask her in wonder.

Cheryl looks up at me, her gorgeous hazel eyes are wide and curious. She then shifts her eyes back to the water and sighs softly. "A song...a nursery rhyme. I remember hearing it as a kid." she replied. "Were you ever a child?"

I slow down my rowing in thought, but theres nothing to remember. "Not that I recall. I was always like this I suppose, immortal." what a boring, lonely life I had been subjected to.

Heather

He was always a monster?- did I really still think of him as that? despite his appearance he seems so...human. He has been nothing short of kind to me, but I still fear he may change.

Valtiel never had a childhood. The thought made me feel kind of sorry for him, I doubt he would of really had any sort of family or friend either. He was caught in a neverending life with no one besides the thoughtless mutants lurking around.

It happens too quickly for me to register, I've moved forward and wrapped my arms around him in a hug. My hands lightly resting on his back as I lay the side of my face agaisnt his chest. I can feel Valtiel's body tense as soon as I touch him and he raises his arms awkwardly.

"C-Cheryl what...what are you d-doing?"

I roll my eyes but smile as I reply "Its called a hug, genius. Its what friends do."

I feel him nod, hes probably still confused but must of caught on as I feel him lower his arms and attempt to hug me back. I sigh at the warmth of his embrace, his muscled arms making me feel safe. You're hugging a monster, Heather! my common sense shouts. But I couldn't care less...

.

.

We're on land again not long after, I step out onto the cool sand as Valtiel drags the boat forward so it won't drift off. I walk ahead, inspecting the area. Past the sand there are trees and what looks to be a path.

As I trudge through the sand, I notice a small shadow beside a tree. Looking closer, I notice it is a bird. One that has recently passed. I look down at the still creature sadly. You'd think after all this, death wouldn't bother me anymore.

I turn my head slightly to see Valtiel slowly approaching.

"I'm sorry little guy..." I sigh and begin to walk again towards the path where I assume we're heading.

I wait by the edge of the path, but Valtiel doesn't come. I turn back and see him crouching by that tree, had he found the bird? I knew it wouldn't affect him like it did me. What was he doing then? was he..eating it? the thought made my stomach churn.

He sits there for a moment, doing his shaking and twitching thing. I stare at his back in confusion as his arms are moving in front of him. What is he doing?!

Right as I take a step forward, Valtiel stands up once more and turns to me. His arms are held out with his hands cupped around something, he walks over to me.

He opens his hands to reveal the bird that was dead only moments before. It twitches and bounces up onto the crimson rubber covering his fingers, then chirps and flies away perfectly fine. Valtiel watched as the bird flew away into the fog, as if it was the most normal thing in the world. What the hell just happened?

I stomped past him and searched for the dead bird, but all I found was the blood stained sand where it had been laying. Did he just?...no. He couldn't have!...could he?

I look back at him, my stare bemused. And he looks like a kid caught with his hand in the cookie jar.

"I guess I have a little explaining to do." he says after a sigh of defeat.

Valtiel

Smooth move, genius. I can't believe I was so stupid as to use my abilities around Cheryl. It may ruin the day I had planned out. Now she was surely going to bombarde me with questions. Or worse, be horrified and run away.

Should I be ashamed of it though? as far as I knew, humans considered most of the things here strange or abnormal. Humans don't have these kind of strengths, and I didn't want to be any less human than I already was with Cheryl.

"That bird...it was dead, w-wasn't it?" she asks, most likely still unsure of what had happened. I nodded in response.

"And you...it..you-"

"I revived it, yes. Or rebirthed you could say." I admitted bluntly.

I watch as Cheryl's eyes widen, she looks around, then looks me up and down as if reconsidering her opinion of me.

I quickly tried to explain myself "It is one of the abilities I have had since my creation, its my main purpose for being here I suppose. And it was essential for your survival during the time in which you carried god. You see I-"

"Essential?...Valtiel, you never had to do that to me..did you?"

Does it really disturb her that much? is she not grateful that I saved her? I suppose I was about to find out.

"I did."

A/N: Didn't know where to end the chapter, hopefully thats an alright cliffhanger? :S

Sorry for the slow updates, I've been working on a new story. If you like Paranormal Activity, or ghosts & demons in general, go check it out! its called 'Borderline Darkness'. And to sasuXsaku33; I've been wanting to do a Pyramid Head story for awhile so maybe I'll give it a try~ As you saw, I kind of gave a glimpse of Valtiel reviving something. I'm honestly not sure how he does it, so I kind of made my own way. But if anyone knows the method of how he does it please tell me!

Thank you for the feedback! please review and if you like give suggestions for future chapters -S
