A little more editing and fleshing out. I only own Kate and Nathan.

Pale Skin and Big Dogs

It's almost two in the morning when the plane lands and I walk out of the airport about 15 minutes later. I raise my hand to hail a cab like they do in the movies, but then remember that my wallet is probably ashes by now. A breeze picks up and I shiver a bit. Surfing gear is not meant to be worn north of SoCal.

I take a few steps, planning on wandering up and down the sidewalk when a cold hand taps me on the shoulder. I turn around to see a tall man with pale white skin and dark eyes. "You wouldn't happen to know Solomon Fianu, would you?"

I give him a sarcastic look, but change it when I realize that my hair could have been covering my last name. Even if he had seen it, he could be trying to be polite and not assume every Fianu wearing a surf suit would be related. "Yeah, I'm his daughter."

The man's eyes widen in surprise and excitement. "Is he here with you?"

"No, he has a competition in LA. I'm just visiting my Uncle in La Push while he and my mom are there."

The man smiles. "Did you say La Push? I'm headed that way myself. Do you need a lift?"

My mother has always told me to be wary of strangers, but seeing as my house just blew up and I have no other way to get to my uncle, I figure, how could things get any worse? "Sure, what did you say your name was?"

The man chuckles. "I don't think I said. My name is Nathan, but you can call me Nate.

I watch the fir trees fly by as we drive down the highway. Some ways past the city limits, Nathan pulls over to the side of the road. Warning bells go off in my head and I unbuckle my seatbelt and grab for the door. Before I reach the handle, I feel his ice cold hand grab my arm. I look him in the eyes, and see the fear in mine reflected in his gaze. Are his eyes red? "What do you want with me?"

"You have no idea what you are, do you?" he asks in a cryptic voice.

"What is going on? What are you talking about? I'm just a teenage girl from Hawaii. Let GO!" I swing my leg up to kick him, but in a flash he catches my foot and turns my ankle until it breaks. Just as I scream out in pain a giant sandy colored wolf comes out of nowhere and smashes through the windshield. Nathan looks at the dog, more in fear than shock and drops my foot. The dog pauses when is looks at me, then grabs Nathan by the shoulder and drags him out of the car and into the forest. To my right, a young man wearing only cargo shorts and shoes comes out of the woods and opens the passenger door.

"Are you alright?"

"Who are you?" I ask. The last thing I need is some creep trying to pretend to help me, cause that worked out so well last time.

"I'm your uncle, Uncle Jake."

I look the kid up and down, he couldn't have been much older than me. "Um, I'm pretty sure my uncle is like 25 or something you couldn't be more than 19 tops."

"It's complicated." His head turns and I hear howls in the woods.

"What's going on?"

"I'll tell you when we get to the house. Can you walk?"

I look over at my ankle which is already starting to turn different shades of purple. I don't think so. Without another word, my alleged uncle picks me up out of the car and begins carrying me down the road.

Before long another kid wearing only shorts walks out of the woods and my uncle stops. "What is it Seth?" Jake asks.

Seth looks nervous, but straightens up to answer. "Well, we took him into the woods, and tried to question him, but he got away."

Jake sighs. "Awesome." My head starts to spin and I let out a small groan. "Look, we need to get her to the Cullens' as soon as possible."

Seth looks over at me and flashes a concerned look to my uncle. "I'd be faster on four feet."

"I know, make it quick."

I close my eyes, and hope that my head will stop spinning. When I open them, I see that sandy colored wolf walk out of the woods and my uncle walks me over to him and lays me face down on the dog's back.

"I'm going to tie you to him, but that's only so you don't fall off. Are you okay with that?"

I look up at my uncle, trying to understand what he is talking about. Without waiting for a response he ties ropes around my wrists and loop them around the dogs neck. Before he finishes securing the rest of my body, I am already unconscious.

Alrighty. Two down, three to go, then it's new content for you folks! Remember to R&R!
