The two boys were sitting side by side on the bench outside the office. A quick scan told her that bruises and bruised egos were the biggest injuries here. Kanae has been greatly troubled by the thought of her mostly sweet and gentle Uryuu getting in a fight at school, but one look at the other boy who sat on that bench cleared up several of her questions. Masaki had always had a great talent for getting Ryuuken into trouble, and the shinigami that Masaki had married had the rare ability of getting Ryuuken to show his temper. Although Kanae had never seen their child before, she had not doubt as to who the other boy was. The bright orange hair, and the roiling mass of intense and confusing reiatsu coming off from the boy served as evidence.

Sure enough, there was Masaki already talking with the secretary sitting at the front of the office. It felt strange to see the Kurosaki girl after all these years, and even weirder to see her grown up and acting like a mature adult. It jarred to realize that she still imaged Masaki as a rebellious and confused teenager.

As she entered the office, both her and Masaki were ushered into a the principle's office in the back. Kanae found her mind drifting as the usual lecture about school policy, possible disciplinary actions, and the importance of young boys learning discipline at home as well. As it seems that they were being let go, Kanae wondered what she should say to the woman who she had grown up with and who had been engaged to her husband. Masaki beat her to the punch with typically Masaki enthusiasm.

"Katagiri-chan, oh sorry your Ishida-chan now. It is good to see you again. I'm so sorry about little Ichigo. I'm quite surprised, I enrolled Ichigo into this karate class and most of the time he just comes home crying because he isn't one to really get in fights. I'm make sure to talk to him. How are you? How is everyone?"

"Everyone is good. I'm sure that we will be having a talk with Uryuu as well. Best not to read too much into, young boys get into fights."

"Oh yes, well Ryuuken was never really one for a fight when he was young, but listening to Isshin getting into fights must have been half his life. The other sitting around being a total lazy bum. Well, he never worded it that way, but he has all these stories of shirking off here and wandering away there. All his stories are very silly, so you learn to take them with a grain of salt. I need to remind him not to give Ichigo any silly ideas. Of that reminds me, I need to get back to the clinic. Sorry to run so soon after seeing you again for the first time and forever, but boy to that man talk. I was not expecting that to last so long. Bye."

Maybe not all things change after all. Masaki seemed as bubbly and strangely unsettling to Kanae as ever.

Later that night Kanae, told Ryuuken all about it. And unsurprising he want to talk to Uryuu.

As she called him down, she could feel the worry coming from her little boy. He so loved to please his father. Kanae remembered when Ryuuken was the same way around his mostly absent father.

"Well," said Ryuuken as Uryuu tried not to squirm too much under his glaze. "Did you win?" Thrown off by the question, Uryuu looked like a deer caught in the headlights, but at least he had the sense to answer. "Well, they broke us up before we finished, but I was getting him way better than he was getting me. Then he started crying when they told him that they were going to call his mom. But then it doesn't take much to make Kurosaki cry."

Daring to looking to see how his father would reaction, Uryuu was rewarded with a hint of a smile.

"Good, but don't let me ever hear about you causing trouble in school again. You are there to learn." Seeing that he was dismissed, Uryuu scurried off to bed.

Events at the Kurosaki house were less memorable. This would be just one of the many fights that Ichigo Kurosaki would get into at school. At least, this one had not been about his hair.

Author's Note: As always I own nothing. By the way, the fight had started because Ichigo had cut in front of Uryuu, who saw it as Ichigo was first rude to him and then he saw it as Ichigo dismissing him. Ichigo had just not noticed that Uryuu was there, but he wasn't going to step down from a fight.
