There was a musky scent in the air; it sifted around her body only. It gave Sasuke another reason to keep his distance away from the broad. Sitting gently in a modest bed which perched farthest from the hospital bed & it's rather rhythmically annoying noises – The Uchiha heir decided bitterly he was through with this pathetic little, damned mission of his.

This woman was going to die, Sasuke's eyes softened briefly at the image of the young Heiress rushing down Konoha streets lively, and then his eyes sharpened once more. This idle, meaningless occupation which Orochimaru assigned him was simply something to keep him home, and although Sasuke didn't have the slightest curiosity as to why, he didn't care, he just wanted to leave that bloody hideout and retreat from Hinata.

Leave her here to die. Sasuke blinked his eyes as he watched Hinata breathe in forced paces, the beeping symbolizing her slow, steady heartbeat. The pitiful sight made Sasuke cringe. Suppressing the thoughts within him, he strode over to the young lady and limply placed a hand on the paper beds edge, met with the tangled smell of lavender and the aroma that floated around the girl, he watched as her eyes flickered back and forth. She was dreaming. Sliding his hands towards the rim of the blanket that sheathed her body, he ripped the thin barrier of her bed away from her frail body. Her eyes knitted. Staring blankly down at Hinata, he realized she still attained a bit of feeling. With this conclusion, he gingerly covered the girl ever so slowly back with the blanket and watched as her eyebrows softened gently into its rather dull, morbid stature that she seemed to claim effortlessly in her slumber.

It's been the last day of babysitting the Hyuuga, and within that time span, all Sasuke has consisted of was sleeping in the darkened room; watch the lifeless human wrapped in the white blanket; & just think.

It was then he felt the strong Chakra of Orochimaru enter within the hideout.

Unsheathing his blade, he prepared himself for his actions he conjured up in his mind, and stood solidly by the door.

The musical instruments of the hospital mechanics suddenly drifted into an unsolvable silence as the creak of the door was the only thing heard, and a nonchalant smirk was smothering Orochimaru's true reaction to a brooding Uchiha readying himself for something they both knew would end in either of them dying.

"Oh Sasuke, your emotions get the better of you"

Breathing heavily, the smoke caught grasp of Sasuke's lungs cleanly while leaving him gasping for air as he hunched over the battered, almost lifeless body of Orochimaru, his Katana pressed almost delicately to Orochimaru's neck, the blade slicing his skin thinly, a drop of blood ran down the side of his pale skin.

"Killing me will benefit you nothing, Sasuke" he coughed the blood as it slipped down the sides of his mouth, "I can't sleep" and with this spoken, Orochimaru lay on the mess of bricks, Sasuke clenched his hands around the handle of his Katana, and with a sickening sound of his blade cutting through the air, and then meeting the flesh of the disgusting Sanin, he grinned desperately as his eyes hung midway open, then he collapsed to the ground. Almost tempted to fall asleep once more in to a week-span of a hibernation, he summoned the last of his chakra to control his muscles from their spasms of protests against his movements. Hastily he clasped the junction of hair that sprawled across the rocks, matted in blood, and tugged it into the satchel, then dashed off to the area of the hideout with was partially broken down. It stood out like a broken thumb – everything was demolished, Sasuke breathed deeply as he opened the door casually to find the sun donning the young heiress through snaked-like cracks, illuminating her pale skin. Sasuke found this sight a moment to relish in. Although quickly he came to his senses and quickly took hold of her body, and the readily made bag of medical supplies which she grew pitifully dependant on, and treaded through the rubble, his aching body in extreme condition as he felt a tear on his back. Hinata was hauled on his back as her head was tucked daintily into his neck.

Once upon hitting the depth of the trees, cautiously walking with silence and veiling his chakra as undistinguishable as possible so no nin could detect him, he decided to leap into the mass of leaves and swiftly take a more heightened route.

The trip to Konoha will be approximately 4 days.

With the hazy evening lengthening into the bitter night, the figure leaping soundlessly through the trees came to an abrupt stop once he spotted a perfect hollow tree which he could lay Hinata comfortably, and relax himself.

Limply laying her rather roughly than he intended on the thick, luscious forest ground, Sasuke gathered sticks and whatever pieces of wood he could find around the tiny clearing. Centering the fire pit, crouching, he lazily spit fire on the ready pile and reposed himself as he sat on his bottom. Facing the mild amount of stars which weren't hidden by the reaching branches that seemed its goal was to drench the sky – Sasuke spotted a shooting star and ran a hand through his hair as he retraced his eyes back down to the fire. Hope within hopelessness was such an ironic topic that Sasuke grew lightly amused of.

"Na…" Sasuke abruptly lashed his head rather sharply into the direction of Hinata awkwardly laying on the grass and walked briskly over to her, her features warmed with the dancing flames in the midnight hue, he watched her regain consciousness slowly with the adhesive toxins slowly being repelled by the antidote that seeped into her veins, and the Genjutsu slowly wearing off from the user being dead. Sasuke watched as her eyes flickered open rather quickly, although her facial expression remained its blank nature.

Staring emotionlessly into the fire, she kept her gaze holding on the glowing orange.

Then she vomited, "Where am I?!" she screamed, her body flipping to onto her back as her vomit slithered its way away from her body, her voice piercing such high pitches that Sasuke clenched his jaw tightly at such the annoying shrill. Birds flocked from the trees, fleeing from the former quiet being.

"Calm yourself" he scolded as he tucked his hand into the medical kit and brought out the premade 'Subject 42' and hastily, transferred the dreary liquid into the needle, "IT HURTS!" She screamed, her hands clenching the blades of grass as her body pathetically made attempts to flail itself. "Do something about it!" she screamed to nobody in particular, "Who are you?!" Sasuke bit his lower lip in resistance to tear another mouth in her face, and held her chin facing the night sky, and once the needle reached into her body, and he released the liquid, Hinata calmed her reaction without the drug, as her eyelid hung midway open and she returned to her monotonic nature. He immediately took notice of the now pain she received before taking the drug and swallowed the dry lump in his throat. "Shooting star" she murmured as she laid on the grass while Sasuke scoffed at her irrational and somewhat psychotic behaviour.

Sasuke received a headache while the musky smell reached his nostrils at her vomit and pulled his lips back to sneer venomously at the discharge, leaning in to pick her frail body from the ground, he felt the lack of muscles in her skin and walked towards the large crevasse within the oak and reached inside to feel the literal darkness.

"Who are you" Hinata asked, her eyes now shut as she was being pressed against Sasuke's chest, she lay atop him while he laid down quite gently in the soft base of the tree, "I'm your protector" he tastelessly stated, to which he felt a brief tremble from Hinata, "where are we" seemingly accepting his title, he smirked gently while pillowing his head which his arms, "we are safe" he bluntly informed. Hinata herself couldn't move, and Sasuke noted this from the aftermath of her length of not using her body, although her fat was still contained, her muscles were brittle and weak, "tomorrow we will train your body" he said quietly, he felt Hinata's hair stick to his moist neck as she nodded. Silence hung in the air comfortably as both were on the verge of falling asleep, before Hinata broke it, "Who am I?"

Sasuke knitted his eyebrows in confusion, the fuck? He pondered her words lividly in his mind, why would she ask such a question? It's only been nine months within the Genjutsu, evidently the jutsu wouldn't tamper with her memories; that certain jutsu was to keep the Kunoichi into a depth of sleep, not control her remembrance. The matter for this was revealed to Sasuke when he was reminded of the Orochimaru tampering with the Hyuuga's eyes. Damned snake screwed with her mind. Gulping this information down silently, Sasuke shifted his body awkwardly as the light weighted woman laying atop him clasped the thigh of his cargo pants as tightly as she possibly could. A desperate attempt to receive a response he noted, but he pressed his lips together, "a useless Heiress named Hinata" Sasuke explained. He felt her fist unclench his cloth as she placed it delicately atop her stomach, as she consumed this, he felt no remorse in his words.

"You saved me from the endless milk puzzles, protector" she murmured, her words almost getting lost into the night, Sasuke engulfed them whole as he felt his insides swell in a somewhat nauseating splendor.
