Stefan stood in the door as Elena talked Bonnie and Meredith about her beautiful baby boy that she yet to see. Elena kept looking toward Stefan make sure he was still there. Stefan smiled every time their eyes would meet nothing ment more to him than seeing her happy and getting stronger.
Elena: Oooh I can't wait to see him!
Bonnie: (strolling through pictures of her phone) These pictures don't do him justice. He's just soo much cuter in person.
Elena: (strips back the covers) that's it I'm going to see him.
Stefan: (with vampire speed rushes to her side) Elena please your not ready because the doctors want you strong enough to walk and you can barely stand.
Elena: (getting pushed back into the bed) can't you compel the doctors to let me see him in the wheel chair or at least bring him down.
Stefan: (caresses her head) they're worried about your infections and he doesn't have strong immune system. I know you want to see him and I want to see you with him but we have to be patient.
Elena: (throws herself back) Gosh! this is so hard. Well please go and check on him and gets lots of pictures. I have yet to see you holding him. Have you held him?
Stefan: Well not exactly, I have held his hand stroked his feet but I wanted you to hold him first.
Elena: Stefan you have to hold him! He probably feels unloved. he has to know us please Stefan go hold him.
Stefan stares into Elena eyes and sees the love she has for their son and he nods as he kisses her forehead. He walks out of the room and turns to look back at her.
Stefan goes upstairs to the nursery where he see Jeremy sitting in the rocking chair holding his son. He knocks on the door and walks over to them squatting down and takes his hand in his saying "hey little one your mommy is asking about you". Jeremy looks toward Stefan and gets up out of the rocking chair and passes him the baby. Stefan awkwardly takes the baby as Jeremy fixes his hands so he is cradling him right. He moves Stefan to the chair and walks to the door. As he is about to leave he speaks out "Stefan your his father, he looks so much like you. You should bond with him because he deserves the best father in the world."
Stefan: (holding the baby uncomfortably) Hey! little one. (Baby begins to cry) shhhh! hey hey I'm sorry. (Stefan stands to his feet trying to calm the baby) I know you want your mommy but she's trying to get stronger for you! (baby begins to quiet down) You like hearing about your mommy! Well (fixing the baby in his arms as he walks to the bed and picks up the bottle) Your mommy is the most beautiful woman and that's why everyone loves her. I look at you and I see her even if you do look more like me you still have some of her in you. (He put the bottle in the baby's mouth and he begins to suck.) Your nose you got that from mommy and your fingers they look just like mommy. She id amazing she is so caring, she never gives up on people especially me and that's why I love her. I guess when you meet her we can give you a name.
As Stefan continued talking to the baby the doctor came in.
Doctor: Good morning! Are you the father or the other uncle.
Stefan: I'm the father; Stefan! Stefan Salvatore. ( laying the baby back down in the crib.
Doctor: (writing on the clipboard) Well it's nice to meet you! Being as the mother is still recovering and we seem to kept missing you. I took the opportunity to discuss his health with the other uncle (looking on the paper work) Jeremy Gilbert.
Stefan: Yea I'm sorry about that. It was touch and go for his mother for a little while so I was going back and forth when I could, Jeremy was mainly here. But how is he.
Doctor: I completely understand, I understand she's recovering so that's a plus. But as for this little guy he has a complete good bill of health. His immune system is up and he's eating a lot more as you can see. As I discussed with Mr. Gilbert he is ready to go home. Now when I talked to Mr. Gilbert he was unsure of who he was taking home so I was waiting to talk with you because forms have to be filled out by the person he is being released to.
Stefan: That would be me, I'm gonna take him home until his mother has fully recovered and is ready to come home.
Doctor: Great! Well we're gonna need consent from the mother and these forms filled out so I will leave these with you and as soon as you get these all filled out we can get this little guy out of here. (passing Stefan the papers).
Stefan took the papers as the doctor left the room and he turned back to his son and looked down at his baby boy saying "well good news and bad news, good news you've been sprung! bad news without mommy! Just the baby made a face in his sleep . Stefan placed his arms on the edge of the crib and looked down at him saying "my thoughts exactly, mommys not gonna like this."
Jeremy was sitting in the room with Elena showing her new pictures of her son.
Jeremy: He does this really cute thing and I was able to get a picture of it finally. (he swipped his phone) there it is.
Elena: oh my gosh if that wasn't the cutest I don't know what is. He looks just like Stefan but, here he looks just like dad.
Jeremy: I know right he does. I totally thought the same thing.
Elena: I can't wait to hold him. Oh how did Stefan do holding him?
Jeremy: (swipped his phone again) His first time holding him I for one think he looked a bit nervous but I left him alone so they could bond so im sure he's doing much better.
Elena: They look great together and I'm so glad this worked out the right way because i want this a family.
Just then there was a knock at the door and Stefan was standing there holding the baby. Elena gasped for air and reached out saying "oh my come here."
Stefan: (walked in slowly and sat down on the bed) the doctor said his immune system was up so i asked all the proper doctors if he could come down for a visit . And they all said (passing her the baby) Yes!
For the first time Elena got to hold her precious baby boy and she looked down at the sleeping baby and tears streamed down her face. As she so happily enjoyed her baby. Stefan wiped away the teats and kissed her cheek as he saw the happiness she had. As they sat for a while Jeremy finally decided he was going to let them be a family.
Jeremy: Well I'm gonna go home catch a shower, I'll be back later (kissing his sisters cheek) Hey little man try not raise any hell while I'm gone, let your mom and dad enjoy your cuteness (touching his little hand right before he exited the room)
Stefan: He really is the cutest baby! (touching his cheek) its like he knows who you are right away!
Elena: I felt him everyday for 8 months growing. He's just so special. (gasps) oh Stefan! We're so bad parents! This precious one has been in the world a whole week without a name. (turning toward Stefan)
Stefan: honestly I thought you had one all picked out for him. (stroking his hair)
Elena: I waited for you I thought we could do that together.
Stefan: (stood to his feet) Well! How about Jeremy! He has definitely been super uncle for him, he fought for his future when we were all going out of our minds about you.
Elena: Not for a first name I can see his middle being Jeremy but he needs a name for him. I like Stefan!
Stefan: Stefan Jeremy, not exactly the name I liked. What about John. John is a family name it's been passed down.
Elena: Not after my last John run in experience. My real father hating the man I love who is the father of my child I don't wanna have to be reminded of that.
Stefan: Just remembered that Sorry! (sitting on the bed) Maybe we should get a bay naming book!
Elena: We don't need a book. I know what about Zachery Jeremy
Stefan: ZACH! Are you sure there are other family members we could...
Elena: and if he had been a girl his name would have been Miranda or Jenna with Lexi as the middle but I know how much Zach meant to you and the fact that he grew vervain to keep this town safe was heroic.
Stefan: (smiled, and lifted the baby from Elena) What do you think Zachery is that a great name?
Just then Damon walked in
Damon: Zach you couldn't come up with anything better!
Elena: (looks over to Damon and snaps at him) I thinkit's heroic being as your uncle died trying to get you the help you so desperatly needed.
Damon: okay one nephew and grand times years over that. two lets call it what it was I killed him.
Elena: Damon!
Stefan: (passes her Zach and quickly jumps to him to carry him out) Here you go buddy go to mommy! (outside) Damon can you at least have some respect I don't want my son knowing he's...
Damon: He's what raised in a family of killers. because that's what we all are. Dad killed us and you killed dad, I killed Zach and we both have killed hundreds not thousands to survive so why not let the little leech know what his family is made of.
Stefan: He's not a leech! Zach was put in our lives because I have a pure heart and Elena is the Doppelganger doesn't mean he was unwanted so if I have to work extra hard to make sure he grows up not seeing or hearing the words murder or kill I will. I may not be normal and he may not have a normal family but dammit Damon lets at least try! He's your nephew whats the chances of this happening again. I love him and because you my brother I know you love him too.
Damon: If you wanna play house then go ahead but remember that when all of the supernatural world comes looking for this kid and his mother it's on you. (He walks away with leaving Stefan standing in the hall).
