Klavier left after about an hour but to Nessie it seemed as though it had been both only a moment and simultaneously a century.
Exhausted and exhilarated, the girls fell onto the sofa in a slight fit of giggles.
"Right girls, it's time to go to bed." Apollo announced as he walked in to the room.
Disappointment filled the eyes of all three girls.
"Now don't look at me like that, i'm not saying that you have to go to sleep but Nick does and I have to get home to Emma, so you have to at least go upstairs."
The girls got up with some reluctance and moved towards the door.
"Have a good night, Polly" Trucy smiled at him and hugged him tight as she went past.
"You girls have fun, I'll see you in the morning." He called to them as they ascended the stairs.
Trucy's room was, unsurprisingly, crammed with various magical implements including hats and hoops and little stuffed rabbits. In the corner stood a tower of cards as tall as Trucy herself. Renesmee was astounded but she had already gathered that both Trucy and Pearl were not ordinary by any stretch of the imagination. But then again, neither was she.
Before they were even in the room, Trucy pointed behind them and out of the door.
"Before the games commence, we must be wearing the proper attire. We will reconvene here in ten minutes and then the fun will begin." Trucy smiled with a hint of evil in her eyes.
The girls dispersed into the various bathrooms in the apartment and ten minutes later they returned to Trucy's room.
Nessie looked over the other girls pajamas and immediately felt as though she had chosen wrongly. The other girls had sets that reflected them and their personalities - Trucy with hearts, clubs, spades and diamonds speckled all over and Pearl had what looked like a yin-yang (the same symbol she wore around her neck). Hers were only generic flowery ones. If she was honest, she didnt really know what she liked, she had hardly even lived and all of her time was spent with her family. When she went shopping it was usually Alice that chose what they bought, she knew what would suit and it had never occurred to Nessie that she might like to wear something other than that.
In her eyes, both Trucy and Pearl dressed so exotically. To some people it would seem as if they were trying to make a statement but Renesmee could tell that it was just that they didn't care what other people thought of them. She recognized this spirit from her own family, when you've got an eternity to live no one opinion matters and they tended to live as such. Nessie hadn't quite managed to grasp this couldn't-care-less attitude and as she sat down, she worried that perhaps she didn't quite fit in.
"So what shall we play first?" Trucy clasped her hands together in excitement. Her plan had gone better than she could have ever thought and it was a party that they were never going to forget. She was so glad that they had managed to coax Renesmee out of her shell. In her eyes, it was obvious that the three would be best friends for a long time.
Of course there was only one way to be truly sure of that fact.
"We should play truth or dare." She announced without giving the other girls a chance to put an idea forward.
Pearl and trucy sat down as two parts of a circle expecting Renesmee to move into place and when she didn't they both looked at her quizzically.
"Come on Nessie, join the circle." Pearl encouraged " have you never played before?"
Renesmee moved forward into the circle and smiled weakly.
"Not really, in fact I've never even heard of it before."
Trucy was shocked but not entirely. She had heard previously that Nessie had lived a sheltered life, but surely no one lived a life so far from the world as that. Hiding her shock, Trucy smiled at her and explained the basics of the game.
" Okay..." Renesmee felt a little more confident as the girls hadn't seemed too weirded out by her lack of previous social experience "...so who is going to start."
"Well, in order to give you an example, I will ask Pearl and then she will ask you and you will ask me and then we will reverse it. Yeah?" Trucy explained
"Um, yeah," Nessie replied, although she was not entirely sure what it was she was agreeing to.
"Okay, so.." Trucy smiled wickedly and turned herself towards Pearl " ...We'll get started with the good stuff."
Pearl knew what was coming long before she had requested the option of truth. She had known what Trucy would ask before she had even stepped in the door that night but she
still had to go for the option of truth, she had been a victim of Trucy's dares one too many times.
Although she was prepared and knew that the rules if the game made any objections mute, she still didn't want to answer Trucy's inquiry.
"What is going on with you and Wocky?"
She didn't really want to answer mostly because the feelings she felt to large and complex to be truly expressed. Although it was strange she didn't feel uncomfortable telling Renesmee because somehow she seemed to be the kind of person who would understand. Trucy, on the other hand, had never had anyone the way that she had Wocky and she could tell from her friends eagerness that she was looking forward to her stories. All she wanted was someone to understand how confusing it was. And then, there was the fact that she had never actually said it out loud.
Pearl gathered her strength and, with her eyes closed so she wouldn't have to see anyone, told them.
"I didn't really know what was happening." She said. "Until, it just kind of happened, and now, I guess, it's sort of official.
"But, if I'm honest, nothing has really changed and thats what makes it so amazing." She smiled to herself and at the girls in front of her. It felt good to have said it, but she wasn't saying anymore and when she looked over at Trucy, she saw that her friend understood that and wouldn't push the issue. Not today anyway.
"Renesmee." she moved on smoothly "it's your turn. Truth or dare?"
