Chapter 9: Under The Knife
With what's been going on, Raivis almost forgot that his kitten was due for his operation. Lastly knowing about it, with little of a half an hour to get to the vet on time. If it wasn't for the hassling of packing up boxes of clothes and such for Raivis to forcibly be moving out the house to somewhere else. The cats not helping much, seeing they didn't want to following his lead. Made him waste time he'll never get back.
"He's seem more in a rush lately. Why Russia?"
Russia paid little mind to what the kit ask to him, eyes locked on the driver of the moving, even with the bars, they didn't block the eerie feeling Russia gave to Raivis as he drove.
"Russia?"
"Something very important for him must soon be done. But his mate made him very unsettling before we left."
"Is that where you'd run off too?"
"Sleep Latvia, you're going to need it."
"Da, okay Russia."
"Damn, traffic bad here, too. Maybe the road before will do?" The small asked to himself, in a calming matter, not wanting to spook his passengers in the back.
After listen to his own voice, finding a better route to take. Not long seeing the vet building within eyesight. Sighing happily when seeing that parking wasn't going to end up being a problem. Taking the first spot that was open. Setting the car up for lock down, getting the felines, and dashing quickly to the door.
"Mr. Galante, you made it. With time to spare." The head nurse said, greeting the other with a smile before adding. "I'll get the papers set up for signing then." Glancing from the man to the computer for a moment, speaking last words to him. "Have a seat, I'll be with you in a moment."
"Okay. Thanks."
When silence happen, Raivis took the chance to finally relax. Giving shuddering breathes. Glancing everything around him. His eyes went to clock above the front desk, down to the front desk, the few chairs and couches that filled some areas of the start of the building, now and then seeing paintings that could gladly seen made an artist well or by what look like from a young child.
Closing his eyes, stopping that short train of thought, needed to look at something else.
Windows tinted with ferns of frost, snow dainty dancing to the ground. Road sloshed away with snow and greens brimmed in white ice.
Somehow, in some odd way, it reminded him of his times when meeting Ivan. Again, odd as it was, it brought young Raivis to smile. A small, sliver, smile.
"Mr. Galante? The papers?"
Upon hearing the voice, jolted him back to the real world.
"Yes, right. Thank you. I'll have these soon." Raivis said in a somewhat rush, as he grabbed the clipboard, grasping the swinging pen hanging off the clipboard, jilting down what was orderly needed.
"Are you feeling alright?"
"Yes, just a rough morning is all." Raivis answered back with a smirk, giving a gist of gesture to the cause of the said rough morning.
The other nodded, getting a beep from her pager for something in back. Saying she would back in a moment. Giving a quick wave and dashed for the door with a sign coming back from two frame to one, reading: Employees Only.
When alone again, Raivis set out to fill in the papers. Eyes now and then glancing over to the felines, resting away without a care in the world. A sense of envy could have been felt for a moment, but dashed aside for that there was papers that needed signing.
Along with future planning's after this. But, thankfully, Raivis wanted to take this, one step at a time.
"Mr. Galante?"
"Sorry. Here, they're all filled out." Raivis said to the head nurse, handing her the clipboard, watching her for a moment until she was back at her desk, adding something or another to the computer before her, and used a side pager to the doctor that signed for Raivis's cat.
"A nurse will be here to take your cat into the back. Please be ready by then."
"Yes." Calling out to her, and started to reach for the crate, luring the small kit out and keeping the larger cat in.
All though, the large cat wouldn't have any of that and put up a good fight, before having the door of the crate slam up into his furry face. A quick growl was heard, but the young man paid no mind to it, stroking the short fur of the kit. Who seem to like eerie feeling that seem to swarm about the building, to that, gave tiny mews of none joy.
Raivis only set on petting the kit more, hoping to relax the small body from the hard shakes that awoke the kit's body, holding the little kitten closer to his being.
For a moment, barely took in that someone came over to him, speaking in hush tone, to which he handed the kitten to another nurse, watching with in sadness as he saw his pet being taking away. Turning to face Isen in the shared crate, pacing back and forth, showing a large amount of displeasure of what the cat was seeing.
"Isen . . . Isen, stop it. Ramzi will be back soon. Behave you."
Isen only gave a small growl to Raivis, going on with his pacing, and eyeing the gentle swing doors where the nurse took little Latvia. Only thinking that humans just found new ways to pissed him off, with little help lately.
In another room, little Latvia saw and felt a thin metal needle enter into his flesh under his fur. Making his vision become blurry and sounds around his ears echoed in far distance than what they really were. Many figures moved about him, some keeping a distance for whatever reason. One lone figure was near, reaching for something.
It was shiny and seem to oddly be familiar from a time that felt a long, long time ago.
Even the dull pain and faint smell of iron was a dull ache of remembrance soon came with it.
Soon though, Latvia thought it was better to just sleep. Sleeping in darkness where something could reach him. As he done many times before, little did it help, but it work when that lonely feeling came into play.
Oh, how sweet that darkness was, as he slept.
Letting the doctor and nurses do their work in peace.
