Chapter 15: Speak of Silent Frost
It glint of diamonds. Towering high over objects hidden beneath all that smooth and cold powered sleet of frost. For something looked soft, it crunched under those that dared to walk upon it. Numbing, discoloring, and blinding all without knowing or who was not set to venture out.
"Russia, come on! Hurry!"
But there were some that never gave a blasted care about it and did as they pleased.
"Da. Over by the garden border's." Russia called out to the other, trekking deeply and heavily with each step. Trying hard not to lose sight of the smaller kit.
"Da! Russia, will do!" The kit said back with joy, before a short scream left in lips and disappear from Russia's sight.
"Latvia!"
The larger cat moved faster to where Latvia had fallen. Looking down the hole, only to see it was a torn area of where the cover was roughly placed to get the garden snow free. When hearing the giggles and slight mews of dread.
"You . . . alright Latvia?" Russia asked slowly when hearing the noises the kitten was making, were highly unable to under.
"Fine. I found a hole. Don't fall in it!"
Russia only rolled his eyes, turning for his tail to snake down the hole, telling Latvia to grabbed it. Biting his tongue when feeling the claws pinching his skin under his fur. Pulling the kitten back to snowy level ground.
"Latvia . . . "
"Russia, come on, the fence isn't far!"
Only giving a sigh, followed.
"Kit, we must speak of something. And I find it . . . "
"We're almost there. Come on!"
"Da."
When finally making it to where the fence was. Russia grasped with his mouth of the back of Latvia's neck. Giving one good jump, for soon having the two resting on the beams hidden under the snow.
The older cat gave the young kit time to take in everything before finally speaking.
"Latvia?"
"Da, Russia?" The kit asked back with a small smile on his face, looking up at Russia, waiting for what the other had to say.
"Understand that I don't wish to speak of this, but for the sake of whatever this unclear future. Please, tell me where you were and how you found yourself here?"
Latvia looked down, thin whiskers twitching off snow that fallen on him, along with his tail swaying in thought.
"B-b-but . . . "
"Again, I understand of the fear you have. All have it for different reasons." His whiskers twitch from the snow, giving a sigh and going on to say. "For me at this moment . . . it's not knowing what could happen to you. For you have become family." Lifting a paw to smooth out Latvia's furry head, happy to see the kit didn't push him away, and with that added. "And when coming to family, it is best to protect . . . even with little knowing of how to do so."
Latvia said in return, eyes looking anywhere but Russia.
It wasn't hard to notice about why he was doing so.
"There are times where fear can't just be more one." Russia stated, again letting a sigh leave before saying. "The haunting of the past creep through the very bones of all. Unknowing and uncaring to lash out at anymore and give little of damn of doing so. My fears despise you for being near, Latvia."
"W-why? I never done anything to hurt you and i-if I did. I'm sorry." Latvia said, fully looking at the larger cat.
Russia unknowable smiled at the kit.
"Russia is not like them. You don't harm me for something that can't one's weight to help. Throwing to have things happen if nothing goes right. Softness is not something that was given widely. For then, leave some to run. And find . . . "
The larger cat watch the kitten babble away, hearing as the tone that was quickly used was vastly heated, anger, and lost. It was something the kitten needed if he was ever going to find peace. Much to what Russia understood in rambles. Recalling little moments he once did the same, years ago.
" . . . I like Russia. Please don't make me leave."
The sudden weight wasn't hard to miss, as Russia felt Latvia hide deeply within his fur. Begging for forgiveness of something he thought he did wrong. When that was far from the truth.
"We should head in now, Kit, it's very cold. Da?"
"Da!"
