Watanuki woke up at his normal time, well over an hour before he needs to leave for school and today he uses his time in the usual manner, which happens to be making lunch for himself, Himawari, and much to his chagrin, Doumeki. He nearly forgets the stoic asshole is in his tiny apartment until he hears a quiet groan from the room over, signaling that the other teen definitely wished to go back to sleep. Watanuki groans to himself, the oaf shouldn't still be tired after sleeping that much. At least he didn't have to wake up an hour earlier to make lunch. Watanuki had half a mind to not bother with providing Doumeki with lunch, though he knew that wouldn't happen. Doumeki would find a way to get Watanuki to make food. He was annoying like that.

Half an hour later he had finished all three lunches. Doumeki had somehow managed to fall back asleep by then, much to the annoyance of the bespactacled teen. "Hey!" he walked up to Doumeki and poked him in the arm a bit harder than was strictly necessary. "Get up or we'll be late and I am not letting you make me late." When Doumeki doesn't immediately get up Watanuki practically growls, narrowing his eyes. "Hey, idiot!" He pulls at Douemeki's arm to no avail, seeing as the other was much bulkier than him. "Get up before I leave without you." Watanuki's pretty sure Doumeki knows that isn't going to happen because he has an infuriating smirk on his face, though he does get up and right now that's all Watanuki really cares about.

"Hurry up and get ready. We don't have enough time for you to sit around and be lazy!" Doumeki rolls his eyes and gets up, straightening out the uniform he'd slept in, and while he didn't seem to mind the wrinkled state of his clothing, it made Watanuki irrationally angry. He ignored the fact that it probably wouldn't bother him were it anyone else and starts yelling. "Did it ever occur to you to not sleep in your uniform? You look like a slob!" He just barely resists the urge to yell more when all Doumeki does in response is plug his ears. "Augh!" He grabs his bag. "Come on." Heading out the door, he walks to school, not bothering to look and see if Doumeki was following.

As soon as he was inside the school grounds a bad feeling settled in the pit of his stomach, making him feel almost physically sick. It was similar to the feeling he got when there was a particularly malevolent or powerful spirit around, only worse. His whole body tensed and he walked quickly to his locker As soon as he gathers everything he needs he heads to class, hoping in vain that nothing will risk attacking while he's in class. Of course, spirits didn't tend to have common courtesy and it was really just Watanuki's luck that this one showed up in a place he couldn't really run. It appeared almost directly in front of him, a big swirling mass of black and purple that slowly began to circle around Watanuki, almost like a bird of prey circles above its next meal before swooping down and devouring it. Watanuki found that he couldn't move, not even blink and when he tried to take a deep breath he found that his lungs had failed him too. He tried to force them to take in air, but the more he struggled the more draining it became. After what felt like hours his vision went black and his body finally gave out. He slumped over onto the desk in front of him like a ragdoll. This is when, unbeknownst to anyone, the malevolent spirit made its move, entering the weakened shell of flesh and bones with little difficulty. Just as Watanuki's classmates were going to bring him to the nurse he sat up with a gasp before giving a rather chilling smirk to nobody in particular and left the classroom on shaky legs without so much as a word to anyone. Everyone stared after him with puzzled gazes. Being so rude and inconsiderate was not in the teen's nature. None of the students even considered possession because, in their world, such supernatural things were unheard of, unreal, not even worthy of a single thought.

Watanuki's current state upon waking could be described in two words: confused and terrified. He could see everything going on around him to the same extent as normal, could hear the words coming out of his mouth and feel the overwhelming need to say something against their deceitful words, yearning to tell Himawari that he did not in fact hate her and that she shouldn't believe the words coming out of what was apparently his body if her hurt and confused utterance of his name was anything to go by. He wanted to scream but he couldn't make his vocal cords work. The more he tried to protest and control his body the more everything hurt. It was searing, white hot pain that would make tears stream uncontrollably down his face and bring him to his knees in agony, had he actually been in possession of either of those things. In his current form, whatever said form may be, he couldn't do a single thing, and once the pain recedes to merely a dull ache he reasons, somewhat cynically, that one must have some kind of physical form to do anything. He soon wishes he didn't have to watch this happening. The spirit inhabiting his body is singlehandedly ruining his friendship with Himawari more by the second and after a mere minute she's walking away from him, obviously distressed. He can see the world moving around him and quickly infers the spirit is walking. The route is familiar and he doesn't want to know how the spirit knows where he lives. It obviously knew a lot though, seeing as it took the time to seek out Himawari. Hopelessness soon begins to set in as he realizes he has no chance of taking his body back over. The spirit is obviously strong enough to tap into Watanuki's memories and that was, quite frankly, terrifying. Watanuki can feel himself getting weaker the more he tries to figure out how to get out of this mess and soon his vision begins to fade, slowly going black.

The first thing Watanuki notices when he wakes up for the second time is Doumeki's angry face staring at him. He attempts to ask him what the hell he's doing in his apartment before he realizes he still can't speak. As Doumeki makes his way makes his way closer to his body he can feel it flinch. If he could scowl right now he would because of course it has to be Doumeki that is able to get him out of this situation. He sees Doumeki's lips move and realizes with a start that he can't hear his words. They make the spirit recoil and he scrambles away from Doumeki until his back hits a wall and for a second Watanuki is sure Doumeki has the upper hand. Then he, or rather, the spirit currently occupying his body, says something that makes Doumeki's jaw tighten in anger and before Watanuki is aware of what's happening Doumeki is speaking again, this time with much more emotion than normal showing on his usually stoic face. Watanuki can feel the spirit relinquishing his hold on him and can feel control returning to him, slowly but surely. The spirit is now floating in front of him, getting smaller before his eyes and Watanuki hears, with striking clarity, the tail end of what must be an exorcism. His knees buckle and he falls to the ground with a dull thud, the pain in his knees far worse than what it should have been. Doumeki walks over in a deceptively nonchalant manner and kneels next to him, putting a hand on his back. Watanuki gasps at the touch. It's way more intense than anything he's ever felt and he pushes the hand away, attempting to isolate himself from everything because after not having any senses for an extended amount of time everything was too overwhelming. Doumeki's voice was too loud and he covered his ears, wishing he would just shut up. After a few minutes his body decides it's been through enough stress for one day and he promptly blacks out for the third time.

Ah, sorry that it's a bit choppy in places, I typed about half of this up in one sitting and then became really unmotivated for about a month. I could really use a beta for this story so if you're interested drop me a PM? Also, I hate to stress this but reviews really are my motivation for writing. I became quite disheartened when I saw a fair amount of views and only a handful of reviews to show for it so maybe this time let me know what you think? I don't wanna be one of those writers that holds chapters hostage for reviews but I'm definitely more willing to write if I think people want me to. Also, slightly off topic, but if any of you want me to update faster send me an ask on tumblr (the url is soraspanties) im quite the procrastinator so sometimes i need a kick in the ass to get going.
