Ch. 8
With the Allfather in his Odin-sleep Loki was now king. It delighted him, knowing that for once, he held the power. It was no longer Thor, the perfect older brother that was destined for the throne. It wasn't Odin, the wise king that'd ruled for so long. It was him. Loki.
I came inside the throne room and snuck up next to him. I wrapped my arms around him and kissed his cheek. 'Hello, Love." He turned his head and kissed my lips. It was shorter than our kisses last night. Sweet and loving.
" I missed you."
He chuckled. "I missed you too."
"I bet I missed you more." I began to kiss all over him. His jaw, his cheek, his temple. I made my way down to his neck.
"Sigyn, love, what are you doing?" He sounded breathless.
"Kissing you, silly. What do you think I'm doing?"
"Yes, love. I can tell. Is there a reason?"
I smiled and continued to kiss is neck. "Well, I've loved you for years. And now that I finally have you I don't ever want to let you go. I don't plan to."
He chuckled, "Don't worry. I'm here to stay. I've loved you since before you started dating Fandral." I pulled back to look at him shocked. He'd loved me longer.
Before I could respond and tell him how adorable that was, we heard footsteps. I immediately stood up. "Allfather we must speak with you urgently." It was Sif and the Warriors 3. The all stopped at the top of the stairs and looked around.
"My friends." Loki greeted.
"Where's Odin?" Fandral asked.
"Father has fallen into the Odin-sleep. Mother fears he may never awaken." He looked sympathetic.
The four of them started walking down the stairs. "We would speak with her." Sif spoke.
"She has refused to leave my father's bedside. You can bring your urgent matters to me." He stood up. "Your King." He looked proud of himself, and I knew how he felt. He finally felt important; needed.
The four of them put their fists over their hearts bent down onto their knee. "My King, we would ask that you end Thor's banishment." I knew where this would head. It wasn't going to end well. But there was no telling Sif that. If there was any chance she could get Thor back, she'd try.
Loki began to walk down the stairs toward them. "My first command cannot be to undo the Allfather's last. We're on the brink of war with Jotunheim. Our people need a sense of continuity in order to feel safe in these difficult times. All of us must stand together for the good of Asgard."
He stood in front of them, as if daring them to speak any more about Thor returning. Sif stood up, and Hogun and Fandral quickly grabbed her arms. The two stared at each other challengingly. "Yes, of course." Fandral agreed, trying to keep the peace.
"Good, then you will wait for my word." His tone sounded final, saying they were done.
Volstagg looked up, "If I may beg the indulgence of your majesty to perhaps reconsider…"
"We're done!" I flinched at the harshness of his voice. The Warriors 3, glaring, stood up and began to walk out. Sif, still standing smirked at Loki before turning and leaving as well.
Loki angrily walked back over to his seat. I smiled comfortingly, and rubbed his shoulders. "You okay?" I leaned down and whispered into his ear.
"No. Why can't they just accept that Thor isn't coming back?"
"Think of it like this; if Odin banished you, I'd be in here bugging him or Thor or whoever would've been made king."
"That's entirely different."
"No, it isn't. I would do it because I love you. Sif loves Thor."
"He doesn't love her." He looked at me.
I sighed, "Not yet. But one day I think he will. He loves no one else, and will see that she has been here the whole time, loving him."
"How will he see that? He is mortal. They will probably never see each other again."
I forgot about that. Nevertheless, I still believed that they would find a way to make it work. If I knew Sif as well as I thought I did, she'd find a way to get to Thor. And soon, too. But I kept my mouth shut, knowing that wasn't what Loki needed to hear. He'd just get angry.
"I'm going to go check on Father."
