Lana groaned when she gained consciousness, sitting up to see that she was in the motel and she sighed loudly. Things hadn't gone as planned and when she heard the movement, Lily looked up from researching the spell that they had been given and she smiled at Lana with a genuinely concerned smile on her face.
"Dean and Sam went to get us some food," Lily explained as she stood up and went to sit at the end of the bed with Lana. "How are you feeling?"
Nodding, Lana shrugged. "Better, to be honest, though I don't know what I'm going to do if I have to use my powers like that again. I think it's time to talk to Crowley or the angels."
"Arabeth gave us the spell and we left her there because Dean was worried about you," Lily admitted as she took a deep breath. "I don't like leaving her there to take advantage of people, but at the same time she seems legitimate."
"Legitimate?" Lana asked, swinging her legs over the side of the bed and standing up slowly. "She's doing a bunch of spells to show off and—"
"—she's not hurting anyone or making anyone sell away their souls," Lily said shrugging. "Right now, Dean wants to keep the promise and if she acts out in a more hostile and evil way, then we will be back to kill her."
Lana smiled a little, but sat down on the end of the bed and looked at her hands, trying to figure out how she was feeling right then. She and Dean had been so mad at each other for so long now and he was trying so hard and he was letting her take the reins and she just knew that there was some sort of ulterior motive. The thing was, she just didn't know what to say and yet Lily seemed to understand.
She closed the top of her laptop and then she took a deep breath and went to sit next to Lana, reaching over and resting her hand on Lana's. There were things that she just didn't know and Lily knew that Lana was trying to see this through Dean's eyes because she was still in love with him and trying to work this through. You just didn't walk away from Dean Winchester…not when you were Alana Meckenzie.
"Dean spent a bit of time by himself," Lily explained with a sigh.
Lana looked at Lily. "What do you mean?"
"Everyone was really tense after Lucifer rose and it wasn't because we were mad at you," Lily tried slowly, "it was because we were all emotionally done."
"Well, Lilith is the reason that I lost my baby…" Lana agreed with a nod.
Lana went to Lilith because she was the one strong enough to take her on—she wasn't about to let Sam have anything to do with it. Sam wasn't allowed to have anymore demon blood and Lana had been practicing for just this. So, she went to St. Mary's and she made sure that Lilith was looking her in the eye. Dean had wanted to wait, but Lana could still remember how Lilith had intentionally run that rod right through her, causing her to lose her baby and almost lose her life. Holding up her hand, Lana gave Lilith a look.
"I bet you think you're getting through this," Lana said, making a fist and smiling when Lilith made a sound like she was in pain.
Lilith laughed at her. "If you're going to start this…you better finish this. You're a monster, Lana. I did you a favor killing your baby."
"Go to Hell, Bitch," Lana retorted, ignoring the sounds of Dean pounding on the closed door behind her.
Just like that, Lana killed her relishing in her pain, but the blood that spilled out of her mouth made a pattern and it was then that Lana realized what was happening. Azazel, Lilith—they had all made sure she was the back-up plan from the beginning and Zachariah had pointed her here so he must have wanted it too. For what price? Dean came busting through as Lana fell to her knees and held her stomach, sobbing, but the portal was opening already. Nothing she said was going to make it better, but Dean still put his arms around her and held her close to him.
"He's coming," Lana said shaking her head. "I just let Lucifer free…I'm so sorry, Dean."
Lily nodded slowly, remembering the painful moment. "God, I know, and I'm still so sorry. You killed her out of revenge and we all wanted to…we couldn't know it was the final seal. We couldn't know this was Lucifer's plan. Dean, though—he just snapped. Two babies gone and he felt like it was all his fault. That doesn't excuse anything hurtful he said, but he didn't want to have anything to do with Sam and I either after that and Sam and I…we left for a little bit."
"And here I thought the three of you were all together," Lana said sadly, tears in her eyes. "He just didn't want to confide in me anymore and I had to have the space."
"I think," Lily began slowly, "that you should ask Dean what happened because one minute Sam and I were trying to figure out how to kill Lucifer and the next Dean was calling saying that the three of us had to stay together no matter what happened."
"He wouldn't even tell you two?" Lana asked her, a look on her face that said she was completely confused.
Lily shook her head. "Not in its entirety, and I think you deserve to know."
xx
"We're back!" Sam announced happily, wiggling the keys. "Dean also gave us his blessing as long as we don't have sex in the backseat."
Dean wiggled his eyebrows. "Be more creative please."
"Stop," Lily said blushing. "Okay, date night, but I just…you'll be nice to Lana while we're gone?"
"You don't think I'll be nice?" Dean asked her.
Lily gave him a look, smiling at him even though he just smiled back, and then she told them to wait a minute. If she was going out on a date with Sam, then she was going to make it worth his while and so she went into the bathroom where Lana was in a robe brushing her teeth. The two smiled at each other and then Lana offered to do Lily's make-up, Lily accepting because the two of them hadn't spent as much one on one time together since meeting back up as they would have liked to have.
Then after that was done, Lily pulled on her blouse and her skirt and then Lana fixed her hair and sent her out with a hug, leaning on the doorframe. Sam rolled his eyes as he saw Dean look Lana up and down, but he was soon completely distracted by Lily and how beautiful she looked. He took her out to the Impala and opened up the door for her, shutting it when she was in and then getting into the driver's seat. Then he stuck the key in the ignition and turned the engine over, smiling broadly at Lily was she started talking.
"Do you remember our first date?" Lily asked him.
Sam nodded at the question. "I remember every date that we have ever had."
"Thank you," Lily told him grinning. "Not for remembering, but for taking me out on dates. This job kind of…it destroys you a little bit. Lana wasn't wrong about that."
"No," Sam said sadly, "no, I don't think she was. Still, this night is about you and me. I have dinner planned and then I got us our own motel room for the night—Dean knows."
"Meaning he and Lana will make quick use of ours," Lily told him laughing. "You remember the six months without her?"
Sam nodded at that. "Yeah, I do—it sucked. She's my best friend and she barely even talked to me she was so hurt. Why are we talking about this though? This is our date night."
"You're right," Lily replied nodding.
That being said, they started to talk about other things, Lily smiling as Sam pulled her chair out for her at the restaurant and then got her seated before he sat down himself. He let her order and insisted that he paid and Lily was all smiles and giggles the entire evening. There was really nothing more romantic than Sam Winchester being a gentleman and she was glad that she was there with him. In fact, she didn't even mind that they were hunting together and that the stroll after eating was them talking about spells.
Lily just liked being with Sam.
He was holding her hand, talking to her in Latin a little bit and making her smile and laugh, until she stopped and he was confused. She wiggled her finger at him though and he grinned and leaned down, kissing her tenderly and then moaning gently as she deepened the kiss right there on the sidewalk. Then she pulled back a little and when he opened up his eyes and looked in hers, he swallowed: he knew that look and he knew it well.
"Take me back to the motel…" she whispered to him.
Nodding, Sam followed instructions and helped Lily into the car again, driving them to the motel and taking her to their single that he had booked for the evening. Obviously he was telling her that he wanted to be close to her in a different kind of intimate way, but Lily wanted that too and took her jacket and shoes off almost immediately. That made Sam chuckle and lock the door behind them, going for her.
He picked her up, happy she wrapped her legs around him, kissing her firmly and holding her as close as he could get her. Her fingers tangled in his hair and she nipped at his lip, both of them getting each other out of their clothes, Sam lying her on the bed and climbing on top of her, mouth traveling along her skin wherever he could reach. He was reveling in the feel of her and in the wonder of the moment, smiling at the soft sighs that Lily let out as Sam worshipped her in this way.
"I love you, Sam," Lily told him gently.
Sam smiled and kissed her lips lovingly, reaching over to the nightstand by the motel room bed and grabbing the box of condoms. That made Lily laugh a little when she saw them, raising her eyebrows at him. It wasn't the normal brand and while she wasn't about to say that out loud, she still couldn't stop the words from coming out of her mouth. She was curious and she wanted to know what exactly was going on and how much of a hand Dean had in making this night happen for them.
"Dean give you those?" Lily asked him, chewing on her lip. "Because I find that funny as well as really weird."
Sam chuckled and nodded. "Yeah—he said he bought them absentmindedly, they weren't his size and he doesn't need them. It was too much information for me, but they're my size and I pride myself on our amazing safe sex."
"I love how confident you get when we're doing dirty things," Lily teased, kissing him swiftly and taking a condom out of the box. "Either he really bought these for you so you and I could get lucky and give him space to get lucky too…or he was thinking about Lana and how much he wants to be a dad."
"Talking about Dean is ruining the moment even though you're right," Sam told her.
Lily agreed, kissing Sam instead and letting her fingers run along his muscled, naked body, taking control and slipping the protection on Sam, gasping as he pushed inside, flesh inside of flesh. She kept her legs wrapped around him so that he could angle them and plunge in as deep as he could go, his name on her lips as she hit her peak, Sam going over the edge at the same exact time. Nothing felt better to her than them both crying out at the same time, hearts pounding against each other, skin to skin.
"For the record, Lily," Sam said as he kissed her gently, keeping her cradled in his arms, "I love you too."
Smiling, Lily stroked Sam's hair, snuggling into him as he kept her close to him.

Lana was running a bath when the boys had come back and after sending Lily off with Sam, had gone back into the bathroom. Dean followed her in, Lana rolling her eyes when she saw him in the mirror and shaking her head as she turned to look at him. He had that smirk on his face and because she knew him so well she knew that he would be perfectly content to try and get bathroom sex out of Lily and Sam's date night.
"Tonight was—" Lana began immediately.
"—tonight was exhausting and I just want to take a bath with you," Dean replied, cutting her off and smiling when she raised her eyebrows at him. "After your whole ordeal, I'm not going to exhaust you physically any further, but I think a bath is a good way for us both to relax and maybe even talk about some things."
Lana giggled. "Dean Winchester wants to talk about some things, huh?"
"Yeah, I think there's things we need to discuss," Dean answered her honestly.
Nodding, Lana smiled at Dean and then slipped off her robe, Dean taking his clothes off and getting into the tub of warm water with Lana. He spread his legs so that she could slip in between them, resting her back on his front as he ran his hands along her arms and kissed her neck. Lana smiled and held his hand, their fingers interlacing, and she stayed silent so that Dean could talk to her since it was his idea to talk in the first place.
"A lot happened when we were apart—I see that clearer now than I did before," Dean told her in the silence.
Lana swallowed and nodded. "You mean after seeing my powers…"
"Yeah, but I'm not upset and I'm not running, I just," Dean sighed and ran his nose along the shell of her ear, nuzzling her.
"Dean, you don't have to be okay with it," Lana found herself saying when they got quiet again.
Dean smiled sadly because this shutting down thing wasn't really a normal thing for her—she used to be the first to demand that feelings be shared. As they grew together and fell in love, however, Dean opened up more on his own and Lana backed off and gave Dean 'outs' when she thought it was appropriate. Right now she was giving him another 'out' and really Dean was just trying to find the right words in his mind. He had never been good at sharing how he really felt, which was why he rarely said 'I love you' either, even when he felt it all the time with Lana.
"Zachariah sent me to 2014 so that I could see a glimpse of the future," Dean began, nodding when Lana turned a little bit to look at him. "Yeah, and it sucked. The Croatoan virus was rampant, Lucifer was in Sam and winning the war, Bobby was dead, and I was such a dick. I had something though, that no one else did…I had you."
Lana nodded at that. "It seems we were destined to find each other again, then."
"Yeah, I guess, but you know how I feel about destiny," Dean told her.
"You don't believe in it," Lana laughed, nodding at him. "Fair enough…"
"I wanted that though," Dean put in quickly, wanting her to know that he was happy with what he had been shown. "That isn't all, though…"
Dean was still trying to adjust to the fact that he had been sent into the future against his will, but what really made it worth it, was Lana coming through the door. For some reason he hadn't expected for her to ever come back to him after everything that he had said to her, but apparently the two just couldn't stay away from each other. What surprised him, though, was the fact that she was pregnant and she looked genuinely surprised to see two Dean's in front of her, pausing for a moment.
"Baby…" she began, but then she paused. "Okay, why are there two of you?"
Future Dean sighed loudly. "Zachariah sent him from 2009."
"Oh," Lana said nodding. "Well, I suppose this is a really bad time then to tell you that your son is acting out because he wants his father and your daughter won't take a nap unless you sing 'Hey Jude' to her. They've had me all day and just want their daddy."
"Holy shit, we had kids," Dean found himself saying out loud.
Lana laughed a little bit. "Davis Samuel Winchester and Serena Lee Winchester—not sure about this one…I suppose if you're from 2009, we probably only just conceived, but uh…Zachariah would only send you for his own gain."
"He wants me to say 'yes' to Michael," Dean admitted with a nod.
"Well you know what I want you to do?" Lana asked him.
Future Dean sighed. "Lanni, baby…"
"I want you to make whatever choice you want to make—I always have," Lana responded, Future Dean smiling sadly and kissing her stomach tenderly.
Dean smiled at the memories and the love in his future self's eyes as he looked at Lana, and it made Dean's heart swell. He'd gotten to see what his kids would potentially look like and while Davis looked like a good mix of the two, Serena looked like a little mini Lana even though toddlers changed as they got older. All Dean knew, was that there were parts of that future that were worth fighting for and he found himself wanting it.
"We had kids," Dean told her finally.
Lana chewed on her bottom lip. "Yeah?"
"Yeah, and I know that tone in your voice," Dean replied, making her turn to face him and kissing her tenderly. "That's what I want, okay? I want there to be kids in our future and I'm not running. I have you back, you're willing to marry me again, and I want to have a family with you, okay? There. I said it. Once we have iced the devil, I want to settle into a semblance of a normal life with you and I want to be what we never got have—stable parents."
"I don't know about 'stable'," Lana said wiping a tear away, "but I want to be parents too. Are you sure?"
Dean chuckled and nodding, kissed Lana again. "I'm sure."
Grinning, Lana pressed her lips to Dean's, opening up her mouth for his tongue when it skimmed her bottom lip. They stayed there in the tub for a little while, talking and kissing and stroking each other's hair, before they got out of the tub and dried off, brushing their teeth and then heading to bed. When Dean wasn't looking, Lana put on some lacy panties and then pulled on her pajama pants, adding the lacy bra to the mix and pulling on her tank top. Then Dean opened up his legs again on the bed, clad in his pajama pants and a t-shirt, and she snuggled into him, her back to his front, dragging her laptop over and putting it on her lap.
Dean kissed the side of her head, looking at the research from over her shoulder and really letting it all hit him. Lana had to do a spell to summon Crowley and at the same time he knew that she wanted to talk to Zachariah, which meant that they were going to have a really trying next day and Dean just wanted to spend right now in Lana's arms. They'd lost so much time and now he had a chance to make things ever better than they were, so he had to try.
"Tomorrow we summon Crowley and talk to Zachariah?" Dean asked her.
Lana nodded and then smacked Dean's hand when he tried to lower her tank top strap. "Hey! Cut that out!"
"I just wanted to see what bra I get to enjoy tomorrow as I kissed your shoulder," Dean chuckled, laughing more as Lana sighed. "Please, I told you I wanted to be a 'dad', Lanni…I know I'm being rewarded with lingerie in the morning."
"I want it to be a surprise," Lana replied with a shrug and then she turned to wink at him. "Besides, it's a new set."
Wiggling her eyebrows at him, she closed the laptop and set it aside, turning off the light and climbing back into the bed with Dean. They spent the next little while snuggling and kissing, laughing a little bit, and when Dean started to slide his hand up her tank top to "feel his way around the bra to guess what it was", Lana just bit his bottom lip playfully and told him to go to sleep. However, when she turned over, Dean distinctly heard her say, "Hold me" and that was just what he did…all night long…
Note: Next chapter focuses on the angels and the demons so be ready for it, lol. Feedback is always appreciated!
