"So you don't remember anything that happened?" Stefan asked Ric, who was sitting down on one of the couches in the living room.

Jenna sat across from him on the other couch with a worried look on her face. Elena was sitting in a chair and my father was leaning against it. I however, was leaning against the doorframe, watching and listening.

"No," Ric answered. "It's like I blacked out, and woke up three days later."

Stefan was pacing back and forth in front of Ric, with his arms crossed, looking quite broody.

"Katherine was there," Ric adds.

"She's under compulsion," Stefan explains. "Damon snuck her some vervain, but she can't leave until Klaus tells her she can."

"Where is Damon?" Elena asked, like she suddenly realized he wasn't in the room.

"I saw him go upstairs," Jenna answers, looking over at Elena.

We all watch as Elena goes upstairs to find Damon.

"So," Ric says after Elena left. "What else did I do?"

At that point, I was bored of the conversation in front of me, so I decided to go eavesdrop on Elena and Damon.

I slip upstairs unnoticed by the others and quietly make my way to Damon's bedroom door.

"You disappeared," Elena said, going into the room.

"Didn't wanna hear anymore," Damon answered.

I peeked my head into the door and Damon was looking out the window, trying to ignore Elena's presence.

"I need you to understand why I'm doing this," Elena says, walking farther into the room.

Did she always feel the need to explain herself?

"Why?" Damon asked, clearly getting pissed. It seemed like whenever it came to Elena, he always got pissed when things weren't going his way. "It clearly doesn't matter what I think."

"I'll be fine, Damon," Elena tried reassuring him. "I'll drink the elixir, Bonnie will kill Klaus…and then all of this will finally be over."

"If it works," Damon scoffs.

"It will work," Elena says.

"You think it will work," he answers. "You want it to work. Why am I the only one who's convinced it won't?"

Because you love her, I answer silently.

"There has to be another way," he adds.

"There isn't," she replies.

"You're gonna die, Elena."

At least he spoke the truth, I'd give him that much.

"And then I'll come back to life," Elena was adamant.

Damon gets closer to Elena, anger clearly written across his face. Damn, he was sexy when he was pissed.

"That is not a risk I'm willing to take," Damon answers, pointing to Elena.

"But I am," she says, taking his hand into both of hers. "It's my life, Damon. My choice."

"I can't lose you," Damon finally admits.

"You won't," Elena sounded like she had tears in her eyes.

Damon studies her face for a few seconds and then Elena walks away. Fearing I'll be found, I hide in one of the alcoves.

I suddenly hear a whoosh sound.

"There is another way," I hear Damon say.

"Damon, no," Elena was pleading. "Damon, no-"

Seconds later, I hear the sound of her struggling.

I go back to the room to find Damon feeding Elena his blood.

I thought briefly about stopping it just to piss Damon off even more, but I was enjoying it far too much to put an end to it.

Stefan flies into the room, pulling Damon off of Elena and knocking her to the floor.

"What did you do?" Stefan was pissed. "Huh? What did you do?"

"I saved her life," Damon answered, standing his ground. "You're so bent on dying, at least this way I know you'll come back."

Elena was on the floor, coughing and gagging, blood was staining the sides of her mouth.

"As a vampire," Stefan was still pissed. "She'll come back a vampire."

"It's better than nothing else," Damon said, showing no remorse.

"How could you of all people take that choice away from her?" Stefan asked, beyond pissed.

Elena gasps just then and Damon looks at her.

"Go ahead," Damon tells her. "Wish me an eternity of misery. Believe me, you'll get over it."

At that moment, Stefan launches himself at Damon, knocking him and a lamp over in the process.

"Stefan!" Elena calls, trying to stop them from fighting.

Damon breaks off a piece of the lamp and flies at Stefan, pinning him up against the wall.

"Admit it," Damon says. "You just wish you had the balls to do it yourself."

Stefan pushes him off and punches Damon in the face not once, not twice, but three times. I was glad I wasn't on that end of their brawl.

Damon falls to the floor, grabbing his improvised stake and shoving it through Stefan stomach.

Ouch.

That's happened to me before and it hurt like a bitch.

"Damon, no!" Elena shouts, rushing over to help Stefan. "Go, get out of here!" she adds, looking at Damon.

Ric and Jenna rush up the stairs to see what was going on. Jenna gave me a questioning look and I just shrugged.

"Aria," My father calls from downstairs. "I know you're up there. That doesn't concern you, so please come down."

Things were just getting good, damn.

"What have I told you about eavesdropping?" Elijah gives me a stern look when I reach the bottom of the stairs.

"That it's rude," I roll my eyes. "But it's not like you weren't doing the exact same thing. It's like a soap opera between those three. It's hard not to listen!"

Moments later, Damon comes into the room still pissed.

"Sounds like you won't be needing this anymore," my father says to him, holding the elixir. "Feeding her vampire blood rendered it useless. Tell Elena I'll be back before nightfall. We'll proceed as planned." Elijah turns to look at me. "Aria."

I sigh and follow my father to the door.

"We both know that elixir wouldn't have worked anyway," Damon mumbles, watching us leave.

Elijah turns around and looks at Damon.

"Your problem, Damon…" my father says. "You talk a good game, but you don't actually know anything. She'll never forgive you. And never for a vampire…it's a very long time."

I wanted to bust out in applause at the way my father told Damon off, but I figured reprimanded for it.

"You said eavesdropping was rude!" I say once we're out of the house.

"Like you said, Aria," Elijah said. "It's like a soap opera with those three."

"So where will I be tonight?" I ask.

"You will be somewhere you cannot interfere with the sacrifice," my father answers.

"Wha-?" I try to get out before he cuts me off.

"We both know that you have a strong loyalty to Klaus," Elijah continues. "I don't want to risk you stopping me from killing him."

"I won't," I say. "I promise. Please, father. I've never broken a promise to you."

"I suppose having you in the general vicinity won't hurt," he muses. "You are to stay in the woods unseen. Do you understand?"

"Yes, father," I answer, trying to hide my excitement.

Now all I had to do was keep myself from letting my loyalty to Klaus overshadow my allegiance to my father.

I hope everyone is having an awesome summer :)
