The morning after the full moon, Blaine woke at the crack of dawn. His wolf wouldn't let him sleep any longer, not when he knew Kurt was alone and had likely had a miserable night cooped up by himself, completely unnatural for a werewolf when the moon was bright and beautiful and whipping up a frenzied energy in all of them.
He still took a moment to stretch out on the forest floor and ground himself, sternly telling his eagerly panting wolf that Kurt needed gentleness over enthusiasm. He still had so much healing to do.
He had broken off from the others as the night wore on and sought this place out, a place from his childhood when he'd met a mysterious young white wolf. He had been just a boy then and thought the little were was the prettiest wolf he'd ever seen. They'd spent such a short time together, but Blaine had never forgotten the encounter. There had been something so special about that wolf, and he often returned to the place they met. It brought him comfort and helped to ground him.
Naked, he padded over to a bag of clothes he'd left himself hanging from a tree branch and slipped them on, and then walked back home, barefoot still and enjoying the feel of his skin still connected to the moonlight-soaked earth. The sun was rising but the earth still held the moon's essence and energy. In their society, many thought of alpha's as the night sky - intimidating, powerful, rivalling the brilliance of the sun. And when an alpha found their perfect mate, it was like the midnight sky illuminated by the full moon - a true balance, with the moon reflecting the light of the sun into the overwhelming dark of the night. That was why Blaine treasured the moon so much, and felt so connected to it. He imagined bonding with his true mate would bring him the same sort connection, filled with comfort and incredible energy at the same time.
His thoughts returned more fully to Kurt and he slowed down as he reached his house. He paused outside the door to the room Kurt was in. He couldn't hear any noise inside, so he carefully let himself in, trying not to make any noise. If Kurt was alseep then Blaine wanted to let him keep sleeping. He would need rest after a night alone on the full moon, more rest than usual.
The walls were scraped up a bit and the bed covers torn, feathers from the pillows everywhere. A lamp lay broken on the ground. All in all, Blaine didn't think the damage was too bad, until he saw Kurt.
"Oh Kurt," he breathed. The omega was curled up, naked aside from a sheet he'd managed to wriggle under in wolf form. He had several new bruises blossoming on his body as well as a cut on his lip. Blaine guessed there were probably more injuries on his body hidden by the sheet.
Quietly, Blaine went over to him, lowering himself next to Kurt on the floor. He placed a gentle hand on Kurt's messy hair, his heart aching. But his heart lept when, instead of flinching away in his sleep, Kurt whined a little and moved closer to him, unconsciously seeking him out. His wolf barked proudly as the omega found his way into Blaine's lap, still sleeping, and Blaine actually found himself fighting back tears as he gently cradled Kurt there. He hadn't held him like this since he'd first found Kurt in Lima, and this was the first time Kurt had ever sought him out like this. True, he was asleep, but in a way it was even more reassuring. This wasn't Kurt desperate to please him, scared and anxious, expecting Blaine to use him for a quick fuck or beat him over any perceived wrongdoing. This was natural, this was what Kurt wanted on some level, even if he was too scared and hurt to ask for it when he was awake.
And Blaine wanted nothing more than to give it to him.
He was actually shaking a little with the need to just completely cover Kurt with his body and snarl at anybody who ever tried to approach them, but Kurt nuzzled his face against his chest softly, his fingers curling into Blaine's shirt, and the Alpha inside him calmed. He let his wolf guide him then, so he was curled around Kurt protectively but still so gently, and let himself feel happy.
He didn't know how much time passed, it could have been a minute or an hour, because he was lost in how blissful and just right it felt to hold Kurt like this.
Kurt moved and Blaine looked down at him just in time to see Kurt's eyes open. Their eyes met and for just a moment, Kurt looked at him with a sleep-warm, content gaze. But something shifted in his eyes as he seemed to truly wake up and become fully aware of everything, and Blaine could feel his entire body tense up as he lowered his eyes.
"Good morning," Blaine said calmly, hoping to prevent a panic attack. But Kurt had never had a full-blown freak out; in his bad moments he just expected the worst and waited for it with resignation.
Kurt took in their situation, with him lying naked in a tangled sheet in Blaine's lap, and seemed to come to some sort of realization. He blew out a shaky breath and then clenched his jaw. Then suddenly he was grinding his hips down and back so that his ass pressed into Blaine's crotch.
Blaine's breath hitched and his wolf whined in confusion in his chest. Yes, he longed to mate with Kurt, but even his wolf knew this wasn't how things should be, no matter how good that lithe body felt pressing against him.
"Alpha, would you like to use me now?" Kurt murmured, grinding into him again and displaying his neck. Blaine didn't want to just unceremoniously dump Kurt onto the ground in an effort to get away from his tempting form, so he took a deep breath and stilled Kurt with his gently as he could, even though he was a hurricane of emotions inside. His throat ached with a need to weep at how Kurt still assumed this of him. His chest swelled with rage at the way Kurt had been treated.
"Kurt, please stop this." His voice came out mournful and hurting, and he knew he should do better, he should be stronger and radiate control and reassurance to this damaged omega, but -
But something flittered over Kurt's face and he looked regretful. He slid away from Blaine, off his lap, and Blaine released his hold. But Kurt didn't go onto his knees like he normally would; he just wrapped the sheet around him better and sat there next to Blaine, looking at the floor.
"I'm sorry, Blaine," he said in a trembling voice.
"Kurt, no-"
"I am sorry," he said again and then looked up. They were both surprised that he had interrupted Blaine, but Blaine gave him a reassuring look at Kurt's uncertainty melted away. "I know better. I know that's not what you want, and I'm sorry, i-it's just that I...it's all I know."
Blaine felt a weight release off of his shoulders and he reached out and slowly guided Kurt back to him, not into his lap, but pressing him close and tucking his head against his chest again.
"Don't apologize for what others have done to you," he said, marvelling at how Kurt relaxed against him. "But I appreciate what you said. When you were asleep - you came to me. It was what we both needed, and that's what I want. Kurt, you have no idea how badly I want to show you what a relationship with an Alpha and a member of his pack can be. What we can both get from it, how important it is for both of us. Something natural and healing, nothing forced or manipulative."
"I want to try," Kurt whispered, and Blaine's wolf howled in approval.
"Good," Blaine said, as he petted Kur'ts hair softly, "that's good."
