The months following the events between Dipper, Mabel, Pacifica, and Gideon were calm. Injuries where healed, memories where forgotten, and life moved on. The Pines twins where adjusting to life in their new permanent residence in Gravity Falls too. The twin's father started work for a company based in Eugene, and their mother started to volunteer at the local public library. Pacifica was more than excited that her boyfriend would be around all the time, and the same was said for Dipper. The three of them continued to hang out, doing things like karaoke and exploring the surrounding regions for new mysteries. Mabel and Pacifica started to become closer friends, especially when Dipper would have to travel back to Palo Alto to tie up some loose ends. He had to go back to California a couple times, so Mabel and Pacifica had plenty of alone time with each other.
One night, when Dipper was gone and the two where together watching The Bachelorette, the two girls started talking about men and marriage.
"I would love to have a wedding like that." Pacifica told Mabel
"Like what? You mean on the beach?"
"No, just an outdoor wedding somewhere warm. The beach is a cool concept but sand will get all over the place."
"True. What does Dipper think?"
A horrified look took over Pacifica's face.
"What do you mean what does Dipper think?" Pacifica cautiously asked her friend.
"Come on Pacifica, think about it. You two are practically married already."
"No we aren't!" Pacifica firmly told the now smug smiling friend.
"Whatever Pacifica, I blind man can see how close you two are. I mean hell, you are already kind of apart of our family already."
"No I am not!" Pacifica now growing red
Mabel suddenly got serious, "Pacifica, you already have your own key for our house. You know the alarm code, you watch our house when we have to go out of town, you come over every day after school whether if Dipper is home or not, and when he isn't home and I am not here, you are usually found sleeping in his bed. Accept it, you are already married to my brother."
Pacifica blushed, then in a very quiet tone squeaked out, "You're right Mabel, I am already married to your brother and I would like to marry him officially, but Dipper would totally freak out if I purposed to him. We are too young, it would never fly anyways"
"I wouldn't totally believe that will happen." Mabel responded with a sly grin on her face.
"Mabel, did he tell you that he wants to marry me? Answer me?" Pacifica frantically asked her friend.
"No he didn't!" Mabel responded, "Calm down it is fine."
Pacifica slowly calmed down, "Well do you want to watch the next Bachelorette? It is taped on my DVR."
Ecstatically Mabel responded, "Hell yes!"
The two girls started watching the next episode, Pacifica not being able to concentrate, thinking about her and Dipper getting married, and Mabel not because of the conversation she had with Dipper earlier in the morning before he left.
"Mabel, get out of the way! I need to get going!" Dipper frantically yelled at his sister.
"Just think of bro-bro, you two together would be so cute, marriage is just the simple next step."
"Mabel I don't think you really understand the problem here. We are just 16 years old, it would never be legal, secondly her parents and mom and dad would absolutely flip out, and finally it would probably creep her out too." Dipper told his sister.
"Dipper, you won't freak her out. You know why? Because she loves you. You saved both of our lives while risking yours. You two are meant to live together for the rest of your lives. Plus even though technically it is illegal in the state to get married if you are under 18, you need to remember we live in the town that allows marriage between a man and a woodpecker."
Dipper thought about what his sister just said, "Mabel you are right. I will purpose to Pacifica when I get back into town. Even though it wont be legal anywhere else, we can use it to form a better foundation for our relationship. Plus I would love to spend the rest of my life with her."
Mabel had tears in her eyes.
"Mabel are you okay?"
"I have never been truly happier with you than I am now." Mabel cried out while giving her brother an extremely tight hug.
"Ha ha ha, okay Mabel I need to get going. I have a long journey ahead of me, which will give me time to think about how I will do it. Thanks for the help."
"No problem Dipper now get going!"
Dipper ran out to his police car, and drove away towards California.
