My thoughts whirled a mile a minute before I opened my mouth a steady stream of blood dripping down it, in the back of my mind I registered the fact that the man had stiffened as if he had smelled the scent of my blood. "What would this deal consist of?"
He chuckled again the vibrations of the sound felt slightly against my back "Such a cautious one as well...I have picked well." He mused before continuing "You will become my proxy or assistant if you will." I thought on it time seemed to be frozen around us even the bleeding of my wounds seemed to have stopped which brought me to my next point "And how will this help me? You said I'm dying right so how will this deal benefit me?"
He stayed silent and the presence behind me suddenly fades away into nothing, I sigh thinking that he left and look around in the ever present darkness that surrounded me. My eyes where then unwillingly drawn to a spot in front of me not even ten feet away from where I was kneeling, a white mist began to gather and form a figure. The mist continued to collect and darken until it revealed a tall man about 6'3" wearing a three piece business suit that went with a color theme of red and black. His pitch black hair was combed neatly back letting his red cat slitted eyes shine clearly in the darkness, opening his mouth I spotted sharp looking fangs before he spoke his voice deep and rumbling "Lets do business."
He reached out smooth creamy white hand to help me up, slightly surprised by the man's actions I quickly accepted it. He pulls me off my knees and onto my feet giving me a once over the look in his crimson eyes gave a feel of concern and something else...something darker as his gaze lingered on my bullet riddled chest. It was as if he pissed that somebody had taken and damaged what he perceived to be his and his alone. Finally he looked away from me and continued where he left off "You have several natural powers laying dormant within you...those colors surrounding you are only the means to connect with your soul as a physical manifestation. As my assistant you would learn to hone and train these abilities."
My face was priceless my dull brown eyes where wide as I gaped at him, a hint of a smirk flitted across his face as a brief emotion. I wondered how he knew of this when the memory of earlier this morning flashed in my mind "This morning at work...that darkness was you?" I inquired kicking myself for not figuring it out sooner "Correct its why I took an interest in you making the first place..nobody else has forced me away much less somebody with buried powers." He looked partially annoyed for a moment before his blank mask returned.
"I almost forgot to mention it might cause a few physical changes in you but we can't be certain.." I gulped audibly wondering what these changes could be. The tall slender being extended a hand "So do we have a deal?" A cocky grin formed on his well chiseled aristocratic face as he asked this he believed that he had this deal in the bag and to be bluntly honest he wasn't wrong about that. Taking a deep calming breath I steadied myself for what was to come "We..we have a deal..." I whispered out gripping his hand in a firm handshake.
He grinned again only this time more demonically as his eyes glowed the darkness beginning to swirl hypnotically around us, I made the stupid mistake at diverting my attention from him to the shadows. A dark red flame spread across his hand and onto mine before suddenly striking as it dove into my body burning through it worse than any torture that I had received in my earlier childhood. "Et conversio in adiuntorium." The words rang and echoed loudly just seconds before a splitting pain could be felt in my chest as if something was savagely ripping my body apart from the inside. Despite all this I remained standing the man's solid hand fixing me to the spot acting as my anchor.
Hours seemed to pass in the span of seconds the torture only grew worse and I knew that I wouldn't be able to last much longer despite the way I had been willing to stand back up before and keep fighting. However it suddenly stopped leaving me weak kneed, my body on its own accord pitched forward right into the firm muscled chest of the other.
The hand that had been grasping mine withdrew as two strong arms circled me, I no longer had the energy to keep my eyes open as they slid shut sending me into a more peaceful world of darkness leaving behind my current one.
A few hours later I sluggishly blinked my eyes open unknowing to me had appearances had changed quite a bit, my original dark blonde hair had darkened to evil villian-ish purple and my dark chocolate brown eyes had also changed they were now slitted like and a burnt pumpkin orange. I had grown just a little as well from my 5'6" to a 5'8". Sitting up I looked around and spotted the body of the guy that had shot me his gun discarded next to his outstretched hand, stumbling up I went over to him and nearly blanked out at what I saw.
His chest had been ripped open his ribs snapped as if they were twigs and his heart had been torn from his chest cavity, that wasn't even the worst of it his eyeballs had been savagely been pulled out of his skull laying on the sides of his face which had several chunks of meat torn off of it. Covering my mouth with my hand I scrambled back before bolting not ever wanting to see the scene again as it burned its way into my mind.
Heaving I ran to my apartment the door was shut and locked just like I had instructed the little girl to do, knocking lightly on the door I softly called out "Hey its me can you let me in?" the door instantly opened as if she had been waiting by the entrance to hear my voice. Chains however stopped her from opening it all the way and I have a small grin, she certainly didn't take any chances with anything. She then took the chain off and allowed me to enter my home.
After a long hour of explaining things to her leaving out the fact that I had been shot and the mysterious man that had saved me I told her that all was taken care of. She believed me and after calling her mother and having her pick her up I pulled my ruined clothes off going into the bathroom and turning the shower on. Making sure that it was steaming hot I let the water beat down against my healed back washing away the dried crusted blood sticking to me.
