Love Bites! Chapter 4

Is It That Easy?

"Finally! We're in! Time to find my boyfriend on the dance floor!"

The group of female gems gazed at the lively area around them with happiness and excitement. For the first time in almost about a decade, the gems were finally exposed to the wild party life. The place was dark with many flashing lights as many people were dancing on a bright dance floor. On the side of the dance floor were tables with red leather seats and prepared drinks.

"Okay bye guys!" Amethyst stormed off onto the floor, but was reached by her shirt's collar by Garnet.

"Don't use magic or hurt anybody tonight. Got it?" She warned the younger gem who nodded.

"What am I? A kid? Or even Steven? I understand completely."

Garnet's hand opened to release Amethyst who rolled her eyes and struck her tongue out towards them. She then laughed while joining the group of singles who were enjoying themselves. The gem was lost in the crowd of dancing people making her appearance lost to the other two magical girls.

"Aren't you going to join her?" Garnet asked towards Pearl who was quiet for their entire wait in line.

"Uhh..."

"Pearl."

The pale gem looked around the area with her cupped hands held to her chest as she stood on the tip of her toes to get a better view of the crowd there was. Her eyes were only trying to identify good looking men so she can go with them. Pearl already made a plan for the night which was to find her 'true love.' A glimpse of hope came to her, making her not wanting to miss her chance.

"Maybe. I still have to get used to this loud music." Pearl replied, anxiously biting her lip.

"I'll be sitting on those chairs if you need me...okay, Pearl. You're fine right?" Garnet said pointing to the tables at the side.

"Okay."

Garnet shook her head in disbelief as she saw Pearl walk into the crowd, sweetly smiling and greeting a group of guys who were doing stupid dances to their amusement. She could tell that Pearl had a lot of complaints about them, but she continued to play along. Garnet was honestly taken by the friendliness of the guys as they welcomed Pearl to their shenanigans. Yet again, Pearl looked amazingly beautiful, making her attractive to any guy. Garnet even began to wonder if any man there was interested in her.

She settled herself down onto the seats and noticed that she was alone; well presumed. In the corner of the room sat a tall, muscular young man who sighed with a tired tone. His brown eyes moved around the room as he smirked toward each girl he saw. He stroke his chin in interest until he noticed Garnet.

"Well...hello..." The muscular man greeted in a deep rich voice, startling Garnet.

"Hello." Garnet replied, trying not to show a slight hint of being nervous.

"What's your name?"

"Garnet."

"My name is Drake. I'm here because almost everybody in Beach City is here. I bet that almost everybody here will walk out with a date."

Not me. Garnet told herself.

"D-Drake? Do you have a d-date?" The red gem spoke out with a shaky voice.

Oh no! What if he thinks that I'm interested? Why am I nervous anyway? I'm Garnet; leader of the Crystal Gems. I'm a brave woman who fears nothing...not even men...at least.

"No. Why did you think I came here for?" Drake asked in a confused tone.

"Oh uh...never mind." Garnet quickly spoke back.

Inside playing with her emotions, Garnet felt a warm feeling come towards her. For her, it wasn't natural to feel this way. She scratched the mark the spiders gave to her, and looked towards Drake. He smiled at her and beckoned for her to come closer to him. His brown eyes were soft and eye catching.

"I have to go to my-"

"Want to dance? As friends?" The good looking man offered in a seductive voice.

There was something with Drake that made Garnet unsure about him. She looked away from him, not sure of what to say. Adjusting her shades and fixing her uncomfortable dress, she tried to find a way to decline his offer. To her surprise, she saw him stand up from his chair and walk towards her, allowing her to get a better view of him. Drake was a tall man, maybe about her height, with slight facial hair on his chin. He had short brown hair and his hands were clumsily found in his pockets. By just a glance, one could feel a 'bad boy' sense come from him. With his red shirt and black studded jacket, he looked as if he was doing his best to try and impress women.

"Come on. I don't bite."

Bite...what? Garnet questioned herself with a raised eyebrow as she felt two tiny bumps on her hand.

Drake laughed at her nervousness and took the gem by the hand, ignoring her embedded gem in her palm. Butterflies flew all over Garnet's stomach, making her blush. However, what went unnoticed by the two newly found friends was that Garnet's bite marks were sparkling by his touch. Something was definitely wrong with this.

...

Amethyst jumped along with a group of girls who danced along with her. She threw her hands up in the air as she praised the DJ in joy. She never felt so alive and energetic. Partying was what the gem always wanted to do in her life, beside other humans who seemed that they accepted her. Many girls were even complimenting on her amethyst gem found in her chest. It was a dream come true.

"Amethyst! Want to hang out with us after this?"

"Can we trade numbers? Cause we need to stay in touch!"

"Love your style girl!"

The purple gem was popular on the dance floor as she did many dance moves that others never saw. Though this did gain more hatred from Beach City's most richest girl; Jessica. The cruel woman stood on the side of the dance floor with her arms crossed on her chest. She was being flirted by a man she just met on the floor, but couldn't control her jealously aimed towards Amethyst.

"Want to go to my place after this so we can-"

Grr...I don't like that alien girl. She's stealing all the attention. Even those weird friends of hers. And they're aliens for crying out loud. Shouldn't everyone be afraid of them? Jessica hissed inside her mind, not paying attention to the man she was talking to.

"That's it! I'm done with her and those Crystal Aliens!" The woman exploded as her face turned red, completely ignoring the one who was interested in her. Without any second thoughts, Jessica stomped through the dance floor like a bull until she saw Amethyst dancing side by side with another guy.

"You!"

The shortest girl of the crowd turned her attention towards Jessica, shaking her head as she silently cursed under her breath. The music was even stopped as everyone talked amongst themselves. Amethyst defensively held her hands up while trying to stare into Jessica's eyes. She wanted to fight her, but she had to keep her promise. Besides, she didn't want to ruin a perfect evening on a holiday that she thought she would never enjoy.

"Okay. Fine. What do ya want?" Amethyst asked with a bitter tone.

"Don't play dumb with me, alien. You're trying to become the most popular girl in Beach City." Jessica spat with disgust.

"Are you serious? Are you that dumb? I'm not even interested in that role!"

Amethyst could feel her body heat rise with anger as she clutched her hands into fists. Her gem was even starting to glow as she felt that any moment, she could harm Jessica.

"Yes you are! Everyone here is enchanted by your alien charms, but get it settled in your small brain that you are not one of us. You'll never will fit in with us. You'll always be different, alien."

That was it. That was the small bullet that shot Amethyst's spirit down. It was enough for her to handle Pearl's and Garnet's complaints about her acting like a child, but this was too far. She just wanted to find her place in the human world in which she called home, but it was impossible to achieve it.

Don't let her take you down. You feel how you want to feel. Amethyst assured herself as she walked away from Jessica. The only way to avoid future conflict is to stay away from the problem.

"I'm not wasting my time with you." She spoke loudly, turning her back. Amethyst knew that it was going to be a long night. She didn't even knew what time it was, but everyone around her ignored the passing time.

"Where is Pearl and Garnet? Ugh!" Amethyst hissed through gritted teeth. Controlling her anger was something that she wasn't very fond of.

What the young gem didn't notice was that the other gems noticed the drama. Pearl had to stop her attempt at dancing so she could check on Amethyst. Even Garnet was taken away by Drake's attempts to woo her with his dancing.

"Hey Am, you okay?" Pearl asked as she approached and saw Amethyst plop herself down onto the same chair Garnet sat on moments ago. She turned her head away as she didn't want any more triggers toward her exploding.

"I'm fine, just leave me alone."

"Look we're here. Just don't use magic as much as you desire. One wrong move can make us lose their trust." Garnet assured the purple gem.

"Or one wrong move can make you lose a date...hehe..." Pearl mumbled with humor to lighten the mood. Again Amethyst and Garnet stared at her.

"Well you're right on that one. Don't think that I saw you with that group of guys. You were even dancing with them." Amethyst huffed.

"They're not my type. In fact, they just joked about their dancing and are immature. They said that I look super cute and hot. Still, I'm not taken with that. Also, I dance like a penguin!"

"I know you P, you were all over them like a love sick puppy."

"Ugh! No I wasn't. I'm still single and not interested in anybody." Pearl defended herself while madly blushing.

Garnet palmed and shook her head. Hearing Pearl and Amethyst argue about the same thing just made her lose her patience since it was heard on basically every mission with them. "I'm going to the bathroom gems, to have a moment of peace. Remember what I said."

She was ignored. Shrugging, she walked away from the scene, not noticing Drake stare back at her and the other gems. Not even the devious smile he had stretched across his face.

...

Ten minutes was waited until he could make his move. Drake may seem like a 'bad boy', which he is, but he loved to enchant women by their interest. He had many girlfriends in the past and broke their hearts after one night was spent with them. Drake's next target was the Crystal Gems. He noticed that Garnet was into strong, brave, athletic, independent men who would take risks that were needed. That was something he noted to himself in order to get her. Next was another girl who he knew there was no trouble getting.

"Excuse me." Drake said in order to catch her attention. "I saw that girl that you had an argument with and thought that you might need some comfort, uhh..."

"...Amethyst." The gem replied, pushing back a strand of hair behind her ear.

Woah, who's this hottie? Just act cool, wait what am I saying? I'm amazingly cool. She fluttered her eyelashes as she patted to the seat next to her. A wave of excitement came to Amethyst as she awkwardly laughed to herself. Okay, this is weird.

"Don't listen to Jessica. She's just like that to everyone." He comforted Amethyst, laying his hand on her thigh.

"You know her? And what are you to care?"

"Aren't you gals the amazing Crystal Gems? Everyone in this city knows your names and people praise you. Your fighting moves are even hot."

Drake knew Amethyst was easy to get to. Her wild and daring personality was something he himself had, making them equal. Drake saw her blush as she looked away from his eyes. His eyes seemed hypnotizing.

"Why are you hitting on me all so suddenly?" Amethyst peeked out as she felt his hand rub up and down her thigh.

"Which guy wouldn't take a chance to be with you. You have everything, Amethyst, but you need a boyfriend to make it complete." Drake smoothed out his words with such richness in his voice.

"So you're jumping in? I like that." Amethyst mischievously smirked. "Have you met Garnet and Pearl? They're my teammates."

"We'll meet them later. Want to-"

"Dance!? Yes! Come on." Amethyst took his arm and dragged him. Her short height made it humorous as she led him to the dance floor; as if she was a child dragging their mother to a toy aisle for a desired toy. In this case, Amethyst related to it because out of it, she would receive that special someone who would be by her side.

...

"We made it! Ugh, I'm exhausted. It seems as if I broken one of my eight legs."

"Shush! Be careful of being stepped on. Or in worse case, being squished by a human with a huge spider fear."

The Cupid Spiders were close behind the Crystal Gems' trail and they were glad to see Pearl and Amethyst scattered throughout the floor. However, Garnet was absent. This concerned them, but they knew that with their small size and the dark room, they were almost invisible.

"Now, sit back and relax spiders. This will be fun to watch. The purple crystal demon is already affected by it. Also, the choice of man is perfect for them. A man who enjoys nothing more than sleeping with them and leaving them; a true player. These she-devils may be physically strong and prepared, but they aren't strong with their emotions."

They stood next to each other by a booth selling drinks and snacks, their eyes feasting on the pleasing sight in front of them. In just a few hours, the gems' trust towards each other would be tested. Their friendships would be put to the test all for two main reasons; love and envy.

Yes, this was a long wait and I'm not happy with this chapter. But, I don't know about you guys. It felt rushed, but I was getting tired of editing it.

So what did you guys think? Is Drake a total D-bag? Will the gems ever notice his desires? Will Jessica get what she deserves? What were the Cupid Spiders even talking about? Find out next time! (Well, after we check in with Steven and Connie's date.)

Thanks again! Be sure to follow/fave/share/REVIEW! They're coins for my fanfiction career and are truly inspiring! :3
