Chapter 8: Father's Realization

Third Person Point view

October 31, 1998.

It had been two weeks since the Dawson's daughter's accident. And Allyson's situation had gotten worse. The once healthy girl had gone from being just unconscious to her life hanging by a thread. The Dawson's family doctor, Dr. Ben, was able to stabilize Ally's body from the aftershock of almost dying. However; he wasn't sure how to bring her out of a coma. For now the choice of living was all up to Ally.

Mr. & Mrs. Dawson were devastated with the lack of control they had over their daughter's life. And the reason why was because they have never been in this type of situation before. They were happy to see that their extended family and friends were accompanying them in visiting her. One of the many people at the hospital was Austin Moon. A small white skin tone boy of eight years old with dreams of becoming a rock star later on in his life. But on this day, Austin wanted his best friend back.

Aus. as Ally would call him was in disbelief when he heard the news from his mother about his brunette best friend Allyson Dawson being admitted into the hospital. Austin's dirty blond hair couldn't wrap around the fact that Ally's small fragile body was sleeping inside one of those clean white rolling beds as her life slowly fades away. And right now he would give up his whole world just to be in Evelyn's place. But Austin Monica Moon knew that his wish could never happen.

On the other hand, Mr. Lester Dawson was devastated with the news about his daughter. He wasn't sure if there is something going on inside his house. But he had this gut feeling inside his stomach that there was something or someone that has brought his daughter into this dreadful situation. And so in order for him to figure out what was going on; his thoughts went back to the day that Allyson's body was admitted into the hospital.

October 17, 1998

A white hair man in his fifties rushed into the narrowed hallways of Crayon's newest hospital. His once wavy dark brown hair was slick back towards the side of his thin narrow brown skin tone head meanwhile his frantic blue eyes looked behind his six foot back to see some nurses following behind him with Bag-valve-mask. Each one of the nurses had done their best to secure the Bag-valve-mask upon Allyson Dawson's thin oval face as they rush her into one of the many ICU rooms.

There were four nurses who had their steady hands upon the stretcher as they tried to place their unconscious seven year old patient's into the nearest room. But as soon as the nurses saw that Allyson's skin color was slowly turning a pale green color, they have decided to quickly take the girl into operation.

Once Dr. Ben heard from one of the nurses that their patient has entered hyperventilation, he instantly took over the situation.

Soon after putting on some of the clothes for operation, Dr. Ben had kindly asked one of the nearby nurses to tell the front office staff about the situation before finishing up his procedure. In the meantime the staff at the registration desk had kindly asked for Mr. Lester to please wait inside one of the waiting room.

Dr. Ben was exhausted but he was able to stabilize his patient. Mr. Dawson and Elena had kindly accepted the offer until they saw both Dr. Ben and Mrs. Penny approached them.

"How is our daughter?" Mrs. Penny states in a frantic tone as she comes closer to her family.

Dr. Ben put on a serious face before stating back. "For now Allyson is okay. But-".

"-But what Dr. Ben! What is wrong with Allyson?" Mr. Lester asks in a frantic tone.

Mrs. Dawson takes in a deep breath as she waits for the doctor to tell them the news.

The fifty year old man stayed quite for a second as he tried to think of a way to tell Ally's parents about their daughter's life. He took that split moment to remember all the good times he had with these parents as he took care of Ally's health. And now he had to tell them that their daughter's life was hanging by a thread.

This wasn't something Dr. Ben wanted to do. But when he got his degree at the age of thirty; he knew that there were some people that he wouldn't be able to save no matter how desperately he wanted to. And for some odd reason he wanted to be the one to tell them good news. However, he knew that this wouldn't be the case.

Dr. Ben took in another deep breath as he stated the truth. "Allyson is slowly losing brain waves. And if this continues on… your daughter may be soon leaving us all behind for a better place."

Right after hearing himself state those words, his heart broke up into pieces as his blue eyes slowly saw Mrs. Dawson's small body starting to collapse from the pain she is witnessing. Meanwhile, Mr. Dawson stayed quiet as his arms grabs a good hold of his wife before finding her body on the floor of white titles of the hospital.

In the meantime Austin Moon was nearby the family as Dr. Ben told Ally's parents the news. His long tan white fingers brushed through his dirty blond hair locks in frustration as his eyes stayed on upon the crumbling family before him.

Austin's ears couldn't believe that Ally was dying and he so badly wanted to see her.

"Would you like to see her?" Dr. Ben stated in a hoarse tone.

Both of the parents looked up and were about to respond back when they heard Austin speak up for the first time in few weeks.

"Can I go in?"

Mrs. Dawson was about to speak up when Dr. Ben crunches down towards Austin's size before responding, "Of course you can buddy! But you can't go on your own. Are your parents here?"

Austin's hazel gold brown eyes look down with a sorrowful expression upon his face as he softly responded back. "No…"

Silence took over the place and Dr. Ben gets up from his current position. Mr. Dawson saw the saddened expression upon the child's face and he decided to take Austin into her room because he knew that Ally could really like for him to be there.

Lester and Penny looked at each other as Lester states back. "I will take him!"

Dr. Ben gave Lester a nod in approval before stating the words "Level 3, room number 204."

Mrs. Penny and Elena talked a bit more about the situation before taking into consideration that Austin's needed to see his best friend. And so in the end they allowed Lester and Austin to go down the white narrow halls.

Austin looked up at his father figure with a joyful smile on his face meanwhile Lester's brown eyes looked down at the dirty blond hair boy as he raises his hand for the little boy to grab onto.

The boy did a giddy dance inside his mind before placing his white skin tone hand into the palm of Ally's father tan brown skin tone hand. Both males were confused about how the situation occurred, but that all changed when Mr. Dawson saw a necklace upon his daughter's neck. That necklace had two plastic barbie arms and each one of those hands were holding onto a pair of brown eyes. Lester saw those golden circles of eyes and his mind couldn't help but remember that necklace. In that split second he took a gulp of air through his nostrils before running towards his daughter's side.

Austin's eyes go wide open when he saw Mr. Dawson reaching out for his daughter's body and gently touched her neckline. The boy was about to ask Mr. Dawson what he was going to do but stopped when he saw that Ally's father sob in relief as he embraced his daughter into his arms

October 31, 1998.

Lester couldn't get the image of the necklace out of his mind. That necklace he saw on his daughter's neckline was the only connection towards his daughter's current situation. He knew that it is the one thing that could explain what was about to happen to his daughter. But he couldn't remember where he saw the necklace.

Each and every second of the day, Lester sat down next his daughter while his eyes followed the machine of his daughter's heartbeat. The beat meter of the machine was at the number thirty but on that day the meter was getting close to twenty. Soon Lester was slowly losing his eyes and at this time he wanted to believe that he could want up from this dream. And so when the man had finally closed his eyes for the night, his mind took him towards the first day of October.

Lester's hands took noticed of the unwritten pink Barbie doll box. It was strange for him to see this gift being placed outside the doorsteps of his house but he also wondered why it was placed here. Lester's brown eyes stayed upon the box before looking down towards his little girl eyes.

The thick colored brown eyebrows of hers rose up with confusion meanwhile Ally's brown eyes twinkled with happiness of seeing the doll. Lester's same colored eyes stayed upon his daughter's face before remembering that his hands were holding the barbie's box.

All that Lester could recall was Ally asking him about the doll and he responded that he would put it away. A huge smile grew upon his face from seeing his daughter skipping up the stairs and towards her bed room. That smile stayed upon his face as his eyes analyzed the doll for the second time that night. His brown eyes looked at the girl's gothic hair before noticing the doll's necklace and that is when it hit him.

The necklace was Melanie's. And if that is the case… then that means Melanie had created some sort of connection with his daughter and now she is paying the price.

Mr. Dawson's eyes slowly got teary eye because he was about to lose his daughter to a doll in a dollhouse. But after the realization, his tired brown eyes opened up wide before turning his head to look over at the heart machine. His eyes stayed there as his mind came back to his senses.

Ally's life was hanging by a thread and on that day he found out why. It was all because that Melanie doll which is inside his daughter's dollhouse.
