My Judgment Day!
March was known for its mid-weather changes. From the left over cold spells of winter to the becoming of spring. Rain was more common around this time than in April, and right now; for a city surrounded by water – it was pouring! But I had other things on my mind besides the weather, like finding those Black Hooded people and end their rituals before they can summon up a demon to wipe my own ass out of existence!
It had only been five hours since Van Helsing and I parted ways to search for this elusive band of Satanists, yet I wasn't getting much on leads. So, I did the next best thing. I headed over to the SVU Department of New York to ask a favor. Ya right! As soon as I asked for the main officers to gather in a private room, they were all eager to find out what was going on.
"What!? Wait –! Wait a dame minute! You sure that this isn't some type of stress your dealing with, because telling us that 'a cult is planning on killing a girl just so they can summon a demon to kick your ass' is hardly considered funny!" Tutuola spat at me as the rest looked like they just wanted to walk out of the room and grab an aspirin.
"No. This is not funny at all!" I growled and glared at him as I remained in my set, surrounded by the others and getting a rather miff look from the Captain that sat across from me. "What I'm saying is the truth. Believe me or not, I came here to ask for help in finding these people and stop them from performing this unholy act!"
"Your one to talk when it comes to unholy acts," Detective Elliott Stabler smirked in his corner as I just curled my lip up to show him a fang.
"We have had lots of cases on those who kidnap girls for 'ritual practices'," Captain Don Cragen breathed out and he handed me a profile of pictures on missing girls; for most of them held a black mark under their names, indicating that they did not survive. "Problem is; the perpetrators also end up killing themselves in the end to make a proper sacrifice, or – that's what we've found."
"There has to be more," I said and saw how Olivia Benson was staring at me intently. "Because these bastards won't give up on me. How I know is that one of them blew a fucking bazooka cannon into my chest and I ended up falling about forty stories onto a car!"
"Oo! That must have felt nice!" Elliot commented and a growl erupted from me, making Olivia hold up her hands at both of us.
"Enough!" She scolded. "We're not getting anywhere just by sitting here! If this – Black Cult is using a young woman for another ritual, then we have to find them first, before they kill her!"
"Liv! This city is huge! They could be anywhere! Disguised as citizens to local workers!" John Munch pointed out in frustration. "Even if we do get a lead, they'll just be on to us and move somewhere else before we get the chance to knock on their front door!"
"They have a pentagram tattoo on their necks," I said and they all turned to me in question. "If that helps. You can use that to weed them out from the rest of the civilians."
"Ya and I'll bet they'll find ways of covering that up too," Tutuola sighed, for this was getting to be rather difficult to accept.
"I do have other eyes around the city," I explained and showed them my phone. "Before coming to you guys, I set up a network-net around certain parts of the city blocks; especially those near Hell's Kitchen. If any of my contacts see anyone even wearing a spec of black with a pentagram; they'll let me know."
"Fine," The Captain finally caved in, "But, do we know where else these people have been setting up their rituals and such?"
"They will probably use abandon churches or other buildings to continue their Black Masses," Much said coolly, "Other than that, it would be great to learn where their main base of operations is located."
"Already covered," I said and they all turned to me in wonder, "I – have this friend from the Secret Holy Order of the Vatican. He was originally here to kill me, but – changed his mind. And so he's agreed to help me find the rest of the Black Hood in Brooklyn, or so I hope."
"Well, that's nice of him," Elliot scoffed and rubbed his ever creasing forehead. "So, it looks like you've got friends in both high and low places. What's the plan then?"
"Simple. Find out where the ritual summoning is taking place, stop it, and then kick the shit out of every member of the Cult," I said without changing a tone.
"No killing, C!" The Chef warned coolly.
"We can go with C," Olivia offered and stood up while her partner gave her a look as he whispered; "We?" "We'll scan and investigate Upper Manhattan while Detective's Munch and Tutuola investigate Lower Manhattan."
"Then I'll have some extra officers keep an eye out in Midtown and Time Square. Remember to only apprehend the members of the cult, and not kill unless you are authorized to! Am I clear?" The Captain set his jaw firm as his eyes cut through each of them. I just rolled my eyes but nodded as everyone replied; "Yes Sir!" "Good!" Then he stood up along with the rest of us. "Good luck and keep me informed! Dismissed!"
Finally! I thought and went for the door, but a hand on my shoulder made me stop and tense up.
"A word? Dampire?" The Captain boldly asked and I saw Olivia exchange a look with Elliot as the door was closed behind them. When the old officer removed his hand I turned to face him. "I know you're having a hard time with this half-vampire thing, but I just want to let you know that others don't give people like you a second chance."
"Like me?" I rephrased coolly and he elaborated.
"You've killed, C. Criminals. Rapists. Terrorists. It may be in your nature now, but it is not in the nature of the Law Enforcement of this country, or don't you remember?" I narrowed my eyes but he continued anyway. "Olivia has begged me to keep you in our 'secret files' but it's only a matter of time before someone higher in the government sends somebody to investigate your work."
"You speak as if I'm already a wanted felony," I smirk as I could hear his teeth grinding in his mouth.
"This isn't a joke, C!" He spat miffly, "The FBI is already suspicious about you after what you did for the TV News cast as well as for my people! Soon it will be the CIA! I can't afford to have those people on my ass just because you believe the rules no longer apply to your cause! Now, I'm not asking you! I'm telling you; Control your bloodlust! I don't care if it means letting the Cult getting away! You will listen to Olivia and Elliot while you are with them!"
"Or else?" I had to ask, and once I did, I could see the seriousness in his eyes should I not comply with him.
"Or else… We can no longer protect you from them," He said, his face not betraying how defeated he looked right now. And what about me?! Just because I don't follow their rules doesn't mean they can label me as a criminal of the USA! Right? But – judging from the look in his old eyes, I could read of the other things that he didn't want to say. In other words; if I go down, so do they. This city needs people like the SVU, and if I screw up, they get the fall just because they were trying to protect me! This – is downright shity!
"Fine!" I growled and tried to shake off my vengeful lust to rip something apart.
"Thank you," He breathed out, like he had been holding it all this time. "And C?" He asked before I grabbed the doorknob. I slightly turned to see his siting form at the table. "Watch out for them too."
I smirked and nodded in understanding. Though I cannot kill, I can still help out should things get ugly. Once I left the room I joined the two Detectives that waited for me.
"Enjoyed your talk?" Elliot asked, as if he knew what had just occurred between his superior and I.
"Move it or I'll kick you again," I hissed and he backed away, but wearing a smirk nonetheless.
The rain had stopped and the sun was barely out, yet it was warm. Once we departed from the station, I remained silent and cool as ever while sitting in the back seat of Elliot's car. It was an awkward drive to say the least. I remained in the car once the Detectives had to stop and interview some people. Yet, as two hours passed, I was starting to get sleepy again. Damn it all! I have got to remain focused here! Though I haven't received one message form Helsing or Father Brandon, I just hoped that one of them was getting closer to end this than I was!
Covering my mouth for another yawn, the Detectives hopped back in once they had finished with some guy that must have been a three hundred pounder.
"Coffee?" Elliot offered me sympathy, but I just sniffed and sneered at his offer and turned to watch the view from my window. "Just asking." He turned back to the wheel and pulled out down the street.
"We have a lead," Olivia said without turning to the back. "Our witness said he saw three men in green hoodies pulling a woman into a van. They took off to an abandoned chapel in Upper West Side of Central Park."
"Green," I breathed out, "They must be trying to cover their tracks with new colors. They know we're looking for them."
"It's been almost two hours since the guy saw them," Elliot said as Olivia pulled out her phone to inform the rest of the posy.
"We may be too late!" I sat up in my seat. "Hurry up or I'll jump out of this stone age vehicle!"
"Hey! Don't insult my car!" Elliot huffed as I growled, though he did start to step on the gas, making the car go faster. "Besides; you're not allowed to jump out of a moving vehicle! Especially a PI's car! Just sit back and relax! We'll get there when we get there!"
Both Detectives had to hold back a shutter as the Dampire released a rather inhuman hiss, but at least she sat back and folded her arms under her chest; brooding as her black lips remained in a frown. Though they too wished there was more time, none of them could argue over the subject. All they could do now was pray.
Bandaged. Blindfolded. The poor girl didn't know what she was into when these men started to drag hand pull her out of the van. She couldn't see, but she could here.
"Take here to the cellar!" A young yet demanding male voice commanded. "Our Priest awaits!"
She heard grass and gravel under her feet, then a few seconds later, they were walking on wood. Old and creaking wood from what she could tell. Though her heart pounded in fear the smell and coldness in the air did nothing to relieve the tension. Then, they were walking down a set of stairs that seemed to be made of concrete or stone. Doors opened and closed, yet she still couldn't tell what was going on!
"Let me go!" She finally said with a shaky start, but her captors held her firmly.
"Silence!" A much richer and dark voice ordered, making her freeze in her very skin. "Place her in the center ring!"
Though she tried to fight, the men forced her to lie on her back on solid ground. They tied her hands to, what she felt, were posts with thick rope. Finally, her blindfold was removed, and now she wished she still had had it back on.
Six men in black robes knelt around her while dark markings surrounded her form. They were muttering something she couldn't understand as a seventh stood over her, holding a slightly curved dagger. Her fears became true! She was going to die!
"Oh, Dark Lord! Ruler of the Underworld!" He called out from all around him as black candles were the only source of light, and their shadows seemed to move along with his words. "I ask of you; accept this sacrifice! Take this purity of blood and flesh and mend it to your most worthy of warriors! We demand our right for revenge against Dampire C! She has abused your gifts! Spits in your name! She! Must! Be! Punished! Take your revenge! We; your most humble of servants, only give to you the resources you need! I beg of the', ask of the' – End the life of Dampire C!"
The girl's heart beat faster and faster as the knife seemed to make its slow decent to her major artery. She closed her eyes and prayed to God to save her soul… as well as aid the soul of Dampire C from these terrible people!
Once the deed was done, all the candles had gone out, but they could all see. Over the years of praising in the dark, their eyes had adjusted well. The Followers watched closely as the girl's blood began to clot over the wound and how her skin had turned sickly white to gray. The symbols on the floor began to vibrate with an eerie energy as ice cold wind started to rise from the floor. Black smoke began to cover the girl's corps. For minutes that seemed like hours, the Followers bowed their heads as their Priest backed away to the far wall as the smoke began to take shape.
A stink of death and brimstone rotted the air as the girl's dead body was replaced by a tall and skinny man, wearing a long black coat and tight black pants. His messy short black hair looked as ruffled as a wild wolf's fur as his fingertips possessed sharp looking nails. His face was sharp. From his nose to his chin looked fierce, it was his eyes that held the truth to what he really was. Black as the abyss he was spawned from his thin mouth revealed a row of rather sharp looking teeth.
"Oh, Unholy One!" The Black Priest bowed to him, but the creature hardly regarded him. "What is thy bidding from us? What shall we do? Dampire C's arrival is apparent! What can we do to prepare?"
The being's smile only widened to reveal more of those unclean, shark-like teeth. Though the Followers were all willing and waiting for what he would say, but nothing could prepare them for what would happen next.
"Die."
We arrived at the chapel fifteen minutes later. Although I was eager I suddenly felt a sense of foreboding about the place. It was old; rotting like a disease that stood on dead grass and surrounded by concrete made sidewalks. From the moment I stepped out of the car, I felt like something was watching us; watching me! It made my skin crawl and I felt my other half nearly trembling in the back of my skull.
"C?" Elliot pulled my attention away from the chapel towards his worried face. "Are you alright?"
I ignored him as I tore off my sunglasses and tossed them into the car; knowing that I won't need them, I stood next to Olivia and pulled out both my guns. The air was cold when I know the temperature was supposed to read over sixty today. As we stepped closer and closer to the entrance of the building, I felt the air in my lungs freeze and my breath showing the chill in the air. That cannot be good! I thought with dread as my guard stayed up and I ordered my body to prepare for the worst.
"This place could be reconstructed for a Halloween gig," Elliot breathed, obviously not aware of how his breath had turned cold too, but of course (being more than human) I could sense something was very wrong here.
"Stay close!" I warned and the two looked at me at how I had tensed up. "I can feel like – something is going on in there!"
"I'll call for backup!" Olivia reached for her phone but I grabbed her wrist to stop her.
"No! You'll only make it worse!" I said, for I had a very bad feeling that if she called for more people, we would have their blood on our hands! "Just – wait! Please!" I had to make them see that what I was feeling was very real! Someone in that building was releasing a lot of bad vibes! If it wasn't for my pride and my own lust for revenge against the Cult, I would have turned tail and ran for the next state!
"It'll be fine!" Elliot reassured both of us, yet he too seemed hesitant to enter the chapel. "If I hear one bullet from either side, I'll call for backup!" He showed us his phone and we agreed. Taking a deep breath we headed for the doors.
The wood on the door's frame barely held together at all as we stepped onto the old wooden floors. It was dirty. Discussing with the smells of old use and weather rotting the wooden chairs. The sound of our footsteps was all that could be heard as I followed the scent of three stinky men and a fearful woman to a heavy looking door.
"Looks like they went through here," I said and pointed my gun's barrel at the door.
"Well then?" Elliot gestured me to open it first. I resisted to growl at him, though I secretly wanted to whine. There was something behind that door that I wasn't going to like, wasn't there? Well, here goes nothing!
Slowly, along with the two Detectives, I opened the door. It led down to a series of steps and rooms to the side; each bearing the upside down star of the Devil. Terrific.
"I'll go down farther," I suggested to the darker and deeper part of the chamber. "You guys can look over in those spare rooms for anything."
"Fine. Just call us if you get into trouble?" Elliot asked a little too forcefully for my liking but I nodded and turned to walk down the steps.
Despite it being dark, my vampiric eyes could see it all. The cobwebs hanging from the ceilings, the groves into the stone walls that surrounded me, as well as another heavy set door that awaited me at the bottom of the stairs. It was the coldest down here. So cold that I thought even the hairs in my nose would freeze. But, taking into account that whatever these idiots were planning couldn't kill me, I kicked down the door and raised both my guns; aimed ready for my prey. But. What I found made me wish I hadn't done that.
Bodies. Dead and bloody bodies of men in black robes lay scattered about in an open and dark room with a huge symbol on the floor. A bloody spot lay in the middle and I cringed when it smelled feminine. We were too late! The girl was dead and so were the Followers! Damn it all! Though, I didn't relax just yet. I had to at least find out how they died.
Entering the room, I noticed how each follower was sliced across the chest and face in an angular fashion. There were seven in the room where I would have suspected to find eight. The body of the girl was gone and left nothing but this black and red stain on the stone floor; where she was sacrificed. Noticing the knife in the hands of the would-be Black Priest, (because his robes were fancier than the others) I concluded that this was the murder weapon. But it was not the cause of every man that was slain in here. Taking a closer look at one follower, I noticed how his wounds weren't that of a knife's at all. These were more like scratches. Deep and damaging. Claws!
Then, I felt it! Something, or rather someone, was standing behind me! The power it was admitting was electrifying! My skin going all goose-bumps as my body nearly trembled with fear. Its breathing was dark and sinister as I felt it tickle next to my left ear.
"Welcome. Dampire C."
Within a span of a few seconds, I felt a hand shove the back of my head with such force, the next thing I knew, I was face-planting into the wall across the room. My nose was clearly broken as I felt my jaw tremble from the impact, my blood dripping free from the sudden damage. Before I could recover though, a set of fingers clenched the clothing on my back, and with supreme strength, threw me out of the room and up the stairs! A loud and long "WHOA!" was all I could spit out as I was quickly thrown up and onto the second landing of the rotting chapel. Pain inflicted my rib cage and spinal cord as the force suddenly released me and I felt its dark presence standing just a few feet from where I now lay.
Detectives Olivia and Elliot where busy looking over the books and boxes of guns and grenades that this gang had somehow smuggled into the chapel. Though it made them suspicious of what else the Cult had in mind, it did not improve their situation either.
"We better call the Captain to send more people here!" Elliot suggested as Olivia stared at the horrible objects; obviously disturbed by all this.
"Yes," She nodded, but before he could dial the number, they both heard a loud crash and heard C's yelling as she was thrown by some invisible force, from the stairs. "C!" Olivia shouted and they both raced out of the room and into the main hall of the chapel where they spotted dust falling off of the second landing. There they saw the Dampire; cringing and obviously injured, yet she wasn't alone. A tall and thin looking man stood just feet from her. His head hung low as if in thought. They didn't know rather to draw their weapons at him or to gap at the sight. Being of the Police Department; they had experienced many horrible things, but this definitely topped their list as they both felt something awful coming from the man. A sense of dread entered Olivia's chest as Elliot slowly went to retrieve his gun, preparing to defend them from this – this man? Was it a man? She wasn't sure, because she could literally see the evil that he was releasing.
"Ouch!" I grumbled and spat out the dirt from my mouth. Letting my healing factor take over, I raised my eyes up at my assailant as I slowly got back to my feet, not caring how the landing was creaking loudly from my weight. "That was rude!" I spat at him rather miffly at his actions upon my person.
As if he had just noticed me, he slowly raised that hollow and sharp looking face at me. But what made me nervous were his eyes! What eyes?! They were black! Completely black, like hollow holes! And when he smiled at me; parting those thin lips, he revealed an ugly set of rather sharp looking teeth. My own fangs were set as I felt myself tremble at what was standing before me. A Demon! Though he looked human, I guess that was because of that damn Summoning that caused his more solid appearance, along with his long black coat and tight black pants while the skin of his dead white chest was showing. Though he appeared to have little or no muscle, he looked strong! Ah shit!
"So, who are you, anyway?" I shouted as I spotted both Detectives down on the main floor, staring up at us in wonder. The dark creature's grin only grew until it was ear to ear, like he wasn't creepy enough!
"My name is of no importance to you, Mutt," He muttered coolly at me. Mutt!? So he thinks to insult me while kicking my ass, does he? That's my job! "Only your death."
"Ha! I wonder? Dying is something I want, but it won't be by your hands – if those are your hands that I'm seeing!" I smirked as the man looked at his hands, and then smiled back up at me.
"Yes," He hissed out in a breathy yet seductive tone, "Not bad for flesh and blood."
"Humph. Confidence is always been a downfall to you dark creatures," I mocked as black smoke started to fog around the demon's feet. "It's a wonder you exist at all."
"Fear," It spook coolly and sinisterly. "Pain. Anger. Without these – emotions, we would have no reason to exist. And yet – they do, so – so do we!" He fanned his arms out in welcome, like he was celebrating. "Unlike you, filthy Mutt! You were made to be no more than a servant; a slave for that pitiful excuse of a King of the Undead! Vampires know little when it comes to the true powers of Hell! When it is we, the Demonic, who know where the natural order lies! Now that you have foolishly broken your chains; you shall be punished! And I will be free to wander this world, and to draw out more of my kind through the fear and pain of humanity!"
There's a reason why I hate monologues; it takes too damn long to listen too! And now this Demon is trying to piss me off by boring me to death with his speeches! That's it! It's time to kick some evil ass!
"Not while I still have breath in me!" I warned as I sharpened my hands into claws and bent my knees, to be ready to jump him! A growl erupted from my throat as I tried to stay as confident as I could. Fear, eh? It's not that surprising that the ultimate evil feeds off of negative emotions! So if I stay focused and in my 'happy place' I should be able to send him back to Hell! Right? "You say you know what it's like to live when it is clearly stated in the Bible that you don't! Even I know that Demons are never truly alive! Your just specters! Evil ghosts that are jealous that they couldn't become real all because you guys fucked up in the name of Creation!" I smirked as he growled at me. I knew how to piss him off too! "Just because I chose a different path doesn't mean you guys can show up and ruin it all for me! You can tell your Boss that too once I send your skinny ass back to Hell!"
"Very unwise of you, Mutt!" He spat at me as the corners of his mouth almost reached his ears, giving me an even clearer view of those horrid teeth. "You should know better than to challenge your superiors! You have caused us too much shame! You will die, and then I shall send what is left of your miserable corps back to your former master! He will then see what a fool he was for choosing such a pathetic being to be his bitch!"
"Well, your right about one thing." I said and flexed my claws as my muscles tightened while he just stood there, like he was waiting for me. "He is a fool! A fool to have underestimated me! And now – I'm gonna turn you into a fool too!"
With that I lunged, my claws in front of me and my fangs were ready to bit into his shoulder, but as soon as I was within inches of touching him, he vanished in a puff of black smoke. I stood at where he was seconds ago and tried to sense his presents, but it was difficult. He could hide and mask his dead scent so well, that I couldn't even tell if he was here, or below to where the Detectives were staring up at me in shock. But as soon as I felt the hairs on the back of my neck stood up, I knew he was right behind me!
Before I could turn and shove a fist full of claws into that confident face of his, he inflicted my back with his own set of claws. Pain exploded on my back as he tore through the fabric and skin, but I snarled and twirled around to beat his face in. The scratch he gave me was already healing as I continued to pound on him, yet he acted as if I was nothing more than the wind! As I hit him, his head did move from side to side, but his expression told me that he was hardly registering the pain at all! He grinned as he caught my fist and I tried to fight his hold, but he really was strong! I gritted my teeth as I fought against his cold hand on me, but it was hard! It was like fighting someone who had taken steroids all his life, and then some!
I shook and trembled against his hold for about five seconds till he twirled me around and forced my arm to crack and pop out of place while his other hand held me by the shoulder with such force I thought it would break! I howled in pain as I was forced to remain still by this powerful being.
"Silly little Mutt!" He snickered into my ear, and yanked on my arm even more, threatening to tear it right out of its socket! "We are far more powerful than the likes of you! You're not even a whole vampire, yet you mock us!? You think you can survive our wrath!? I shall enjoy feasting upon your pain!"
BANG! BANG!
The Demon and I froze when we heard a gun being fired from below, for the Demon now had two holes showing through his pale chest, though he didn't show any pain. With strained eyes I spotted Detective Elliot holding out his gun and aiming it at the Demon. IDIOT! Just what the Hell is he doing!?
"NO! STOP! YOU – YOU CAN'T WIN AGAINST HIM!" I shouted but that was a really big mistake, for the Demon flashed a grin at me before staring down at the two humans below.
"You care for these – mortals? Then you shall bear witness to their deaths as well!" He grinned as he then grabbed a hand full of my hair and threw me off the landing. I fell, rather quickly, into the rotting wood of a few long chairs of the chapel. Wood covered my battered form as I tried to block out the pain and focused my mind on saving the two stupid humans from the Demon.
"C!" Olivia watched in horror as this man threw the Dampire off the second landing and into a pile of rotting chairs. She was about to go to her aid when the man suddenly re-appeared in front of them! Then, it suddenly clicked in her head. He – wasn't a man at all! From the black eyes and ugly sharp teeth that he showed threw his grin, she could tell that he wasn't human at all!
"You're under arrest, asshole!" Elliot stated his usual cop line as he pointed the gun at the being's face.
"Foolish mortals," The man breathed in a heavy tone as his coat seemed to be spilling out black mist and surrounded his form. "You think you own this world, when you know nothing of what sleeps within it! If it weren't for your involvement with the Dampire, I would have spared your lives. But – a punishment is a punishment!"
Before Detective Stabler could fire his gun again, the being made a quick dash to stand in front of him and, with one sweep of his arm, sent the poor man flying backwards and into a pillar. His head made a lowed smack as it hit the marble structure and he fell to the ground, unmoving.
"Elliot!" Olivia shouted for her partner but he didn't respond. She was about to go to him, but the Demon stood just in front of her. Her chest pounded heavily with her heart as her breathing showed how fearful she was while the creature was leering down at her like she was a meal! She was about to reach for her gun but those black eyes held her in place. She didn't know what to do! She was trapped by this thing and couldn't get out! She would pray for help if her brain could still function! She was just too in shock to think! Monsters were real! Not just the human criminals, but true and evil beings of darkness and power that made her weak in the knees as the Demon continued to stare down at her. What was he waiting for!?
"Your fear is delicious!" He grinned down at her as his dirty nails rose up to level with her face, and she watched in terror as they grew into very long claws. "I shall enjoy hearing your screams as I tear into your flesh!"
Before she could back away even a foot from him, she saw a movement from behind the Demon and before she knew it, the Demon that was standing in front of her had a sword run right through his back and the point was now sticking out of his chest! Olivia held her breath as she spotted the face of Dampire C from over the Demon's shoulder.
"I'm not finished with you yet!" I growled as I had just run my katana threw the Demon's back. He growled in anger as he tried to fling me from him, like a bucking bull, but I held firm as I used all of my super strength to toss the Demon away from Detective Benson and threw him to the far side of the chapel, my katana easily sliding out of the beast's body as he was sent crashing into dust and shit.
"What are you waiting for!?" I spat at her and her brown orbs blinked in rapped surprise. "GET OUT OF HERE! And take Dead-weight over there too!" I pointed to the unconscious Detective as I faced the Demon again, who had just gotten up and was now looking fiercely at me.
My voice seemed to bring her out of her stupor as she went running down the aisle, to where her partner had fallen, and was now trying to rouse him awake. But from what I saw, the Detective had sustain quite a skull injury and blood was slowly dripping from the back of his head as Olivia tried to cover it with several handkerchiefs.
The Demon's vengeful screech turned my attention back to him and I swallowed when I saw how dark his form had turned. From a flash of black, which lasted only a second, I had seen horns on his head! His face had morphed into that of a dead corps and his feet turned into hoofs! A Demon's true form! Until he returned it to that human look again! With another ear piercing screech, he flung himself towards me as I sheathed my sword and readied my claws to come intact with his stomach.
As he rammed into me, he sent us both into a wall, making the place shutter from our fighting. I clawed and hit anything I could touch of him, while he was doing a good job ruffling me up! We hit, struggled, clawed and rolled from flooring to the walls until he sent me flying again and into a wooden beam that held a section of the second landing up. It came crashing down upon me as its support was no longer there. Taking a moment to spit out the dust and blood, I threw several sections of wood off of me and, with burning red eyes, charged at my opponent again!
Snarling, we fought again, but this time I used a more tactical approach. As his arms flung around to try and scratch me, I quickly sped behind him and shoved both my clawed hands into his spinal cord, making him scream in pain and rage! Though his arms tried to reach behind me, his tall frame couldn't reach me as I flung myself on his back and made the impression that I was back ridding him again; though my boots supported me as they also shoved into his lower back, trying to make him fall! But he stood strong, despite my brutal position as I tried to claw and tear out his bones and muscles. Black blood covered my hands and the smell of rotting death gagged my senses, but I stayed focused as I went to bit his neck. He screeched again as I tore at the flesh of his neck while a putrid taste covered my tongue, but I didn't give up as my other half fueled me with desire to see this Demon wither under my power!
But then the Demon did something surprising! He leaped into the air; like he was flying! While I still held onto his back, he flew all the way to the ceiling of the chapel until he could almost touch it, and then – we dropped! It was like gravity suddenly had doubled as he quickly fell to the ground, with me colliding into the floor first! My breath was taken as I was crushed under both the floor and the weight of the ever persistent Demon! My rib cage cracked and broke in several places as my lungs were pierced from the force of the drop. Blood clogged in my throat as my strength started to waver while the Demon leaped off of me and stared down at me with glee. I coughed and struggled to get out of the crater he had placed me in, but he did it for me. Grabbing my throat, he easily lifted me off of my feet and hung me there as he continued to choke the life out of me. My vision began to blur as I struggled and strained to claw into his arms, but his wounds would only heal in seconds, compared to mine! Then, with a force of a hurricane, he threw me aside and through another wall of the chapel. I landed into one of the extra rooms as spots clouded my vision.
Come on! Come on! I struggled to reason with my other half as my healing factor tried to fix the damage of my ribs. Don't let this bitch own us! Help me get up and fight!
That seemed to help, for I felt my muscles tighten and my body growing a bit stronger as I fought to sit upright. I spotted the Demon on the other side of the hole he had me make; grinning and glaring like mad! Looking around for anything useful, I spotted a crate in the far corner. My bright eyes widened to what I saw within it; explosives! That could help!
As the Demon made a slow and steady march towards me, I quickly raced to the crate and pocketed several grenades and pulled out my katana as soon as I heard the Demon step into the room. He smirked as I held the sword at his face. With blinding speed, he grabbed my throat again and tossed me out of the room. I rolled on the floor and went back on my feet to face him again, but he was on top of me before I could gather my bearings. Grabbing me a third time, he tossed me back up and onto a second landing that was still in tacked. Jumping back up on my feet the Demon appeared before me as I started to swing and cut at his ugly face! But, as I swung, it appeared I was slicing through black fog! He could make his appearance into anything he wants! Uh-oh!
Grabbing my wrist, he crushed it with little effort on his part. He pulled the sword out of my hand and held it against my chest. "How does it feel to be on the receiving end, Mutt?" He spat into my face as he held me still, my teeth grinding in pain as I tried to fight free. "As I said; vampires are weak! And half-vampires are nothing more than pathetic! It is we, the Demonic! That shall rule this world! Both species of your heritance shall fall to us, as they always have! You shall only be the second example of their faults!"
Second? Oh! He's only talking about the first Dampire that was made. Well fuck him! I'm not like that guy at all!
He grinned as if he could hear my thoughts and squeezed my wrist even more until blood was dripping out. "Ashes to ashes!" He quoted and then brought the katana down upon me. It went right through my chest, piercing my heart and he didn't stop until the hilt was pressed right against my chest. I gasped as extreme pain racked my body and I toppled to the floor of the landing as he released me, grinning down as I felt my vision fading. "Dust to dust!"
"NOOOO! C!" Olivia screamed as she witnessed the whole thing. If there was one thing she ever thought about vampires, half or otherwise, they could be brought down with a stab through the heart! As she cradled Elliot's head onto her lap, she felt helpless as the Dampire's form lay motionless on the rotting wood of the chapel's second landing.
"The End has come for you all!" The Demon chanted from above with his arms stretched out in victory. Olivia trembled from fear and anguish as tears threatened to spill out of her eyes. Her partner was out cold, and Dampire C had been killed by this – this evil being! She didn't know what to do!
Oh, God! Please! Help us! Olivia prayed in a desperate attempt, but she felt the cold stare of the Demon above her.
"Your God cannot help you now!" The Demon shouted with malice. "He has stopped helping foolish creatures such as you, because of the blood you have stained onto this world!" He continued, as he hardly noticed the movement from behind him! "You and your humanity shall be ours to punish! Ours to rule over! Ours to –!? What!?"
The Demon froze when he heard a movement behind him and turned to see Dampire C getting up from his lethal attack and stare at her in shock as she pulled the katana out of her chest!
Yes. I hurt. But the pain only lasted for a few minutes when I realized I was still alive! Hearing that damn Demon talk again was enough to make me believe I was still alive and not turning into ash. Realizing this, I planned my next attack on the beast as I got up and pulled my sword from my chest. He turned and stared at me with such a surprised expression I would have laughed as I freed my heart from the blade and put it back into my sheath. Bringing my hands into my pockets, I pulled out all of the grenades and lunged at the Demon.
He grunted as I collided into his chest and we plummeted to the floor, my weight crushing him as my boots made impressions on his dead chest. He was still too stunned to realize that I had pulled the rings out of the safety mechanism and plunged both armed grenades into his stomach. Probably watching the hole in my chest heal.
"You!? How –!? That's – impossible!" He gagged in pain as I ceased him by the neck and quickly dragged him to the stone stairs that lead to the black altar; intending to send him back to where he came the hard way!
"Think about it in Hell, Bitch!" I growled and threw him will all my might into the room with all his dead Followers! "AND STAY THERE!" I hollered and raced back up the stairs while the Demon's inhuman scream echoed throughout the place while the grenade's made quick work of him and the structure of the chapel! Fire erupted from the room and sped up the stairs as I hid behind a wall while the fire blew up and started to burn at the wood around us.
Olivia had no words for she was too stunned to believe what she had just seen. Dampire C had rose back up and pulled that sword out of her body like it was nothing! Then she proceeded to attack the Demon again and then dragged him back to the secret stairs and they disappeared. When she returned, alone, a blast of fire came out of the room and began to set everything on fire. Wood and pillars of the chapel started to fall apart all around her, but her eyes only stayed on the Dampire; who was now walking slowly towards her with a set look of determination in her red eyes.
"Come on!" I said and helped Detective Benson to her feet while I threw Detective Stabler over my shoulder. "Let's get out of here!"
She still seemed too dazed in the moment, so I grabbed her by the arm and proceeded to drag her to the exit. She didn't fight me, as she seemed to find her feet as we finally made it back outside again and ran across the street towards Elliot's car. I set the still unconscious idiot onto the sidewalk as Olivia stood next to me, still trying to process everything that has happened so far.
"C?" She asked but both of us turned our attention to the chapel that started to fall and crumble in on itself. Fire crackled and raged on, burning the old and cursed wood as I felt the presents of darkness and evil leave this area. The Demon was gone. All the Followers, that were present here, were being cremated and the girl was dead. Though I hoped her spirit can find peace now, I had to look upon myself after what just happened. My shirt and pants were in ruin and my hair sticks were gone, leaving my black hair to fan about my shoulders. My wounds had been healed, including my chest where I had been stabbed moments before, but blood and dust still covered me. I looked like shit, yet at least I was still alive. How? Well, the answer was easy. So easy that I couldn't help but to giggle in hopeless realization. My giggling soon turned into full blown laughter as I threw my head back and showed my fangs to the sky.
Olivia stared at me in horror. Obviously confused as to what I found that was so funny. Then, she saw a few bloody tears fall from my face and she also now realized why I was acting the way I was.
"After all this time," I smirked as I let the tears fall and I felt my chest tighten with suppressed emotions. "He still has power over my life."
Olivia frowned and looked sympathetic to me, but she said nothing as she walked over to Elliot and examined his condition. Though he was alive he was going to need medical attention for that head wound. While I stayed where I was and continued to watch the old Chapel burn to the ground, along with the entrance to Hell, Olivia pulled out her phone and started calling for help.
An hour went by and the place was still smoldering with black smoke, but the rest of the SVU Team arrived along with an ambulance for Detective Stabler.
"You look like shit," Detective Tutuola commented on my state of attire as I sat on top of Elliot's car, still observing the scene as other officers took pictures and wrote down stuff in their notepads. I said nothing as my hands rested on my knees with my legs tucked under me, like I was meditating. My eyes were back to being bright hazel again as I quietly observed Olivia being interviewed by her Captain.
"You okay?" Munch asked me but still, I ignored them as well as ignoring the blood that still stained my face.
"Would you be okay if you found out you couldn't die?" I finally spate out, but none of them said anything as the Captain came up behind them. He muttered something into their ears, but I didn't pay attention as they nodded and left us alone. The Captain looked from me, then to the burned down chapel, then back to me again.
"Looks like you had one Hell of a day," He said and sighed as he leaned up against the car I sat upon. "Olivia – told me what happened. But –."
"It's hard to believe, isn't it?" I finished for him. He nodded after a moment of silence but then placed his hands in his pockets.
"But believing isn't the problem anymore," He said and I raised an eyebrow at him. "It's taking responsibility for your actions that can cause the most damage." I said nothing as we continued to stare at the burned out chapel.
"Go and clean yourself up," He ordered and started to walk back to his vehicle. "You'll want to call your other contact and tell him what's happened."
Remembering Van Helsing, I jumped off the car and started raced back to my apartment, but not before Olivia gave me a grateful look as she sat in the ambulance while Elliot was being treated.
Thank you. Her thoughts breathed out relief to me. I only nodded and began my track while I pulled out my phone and sent a message to Helsing to come back to St. Paul's Chapel.
After I cleaned myself up, I went to the church and found Father Brandon with Van Helsing waiting for me outside. From their faces I could tell they knew what had just occurred with me. After all, I wasn't the only one with contacts with the police.
"Are you alright?" Van Helsing asked me, but all I could breathe out was a "Ya."
"This dark day is finally over with," Father Brandon stated as he watched the sun set. "I shall pray for the girl's soul to enter through the gates of St. Peter. Despite the loss of life, C. You've done well from saving this world from such a threat."
"Did you find anything?" I finally asked, but Helsing looked disappointed.
"No. The Black Hooded Cult had disappeared as soon as I was onto them," He said, sounding just a bit frustrated. "But there are others who will find what's left of them. Now that they know you can survive from a 'Demonic Summoning' they won't be too hasty to come after you again."
"That's a relief," I sighed and both men looked worried at me. "I'm fine!" I spat, irritated at their constant pity for me! "I don't need any of your damn pity! So just leave it at that!"
"Alright then," Helsing said which nearly surprised me, "I have to go back to Rome and report to the Cardinals on what's happened so far. Don't worry. I'll leave you out of it. As for any more assistants? You have my number. Call me if you need help."
"Ha, thanks. Although I probably won't need it," I smirked as he smirked back.
"It's not just you that needs the help though," He said and I frowned at what he was getting at. Sure, blame me for whatever happens to the innocent whenever I try to risk my neck out for them! Or – maybe he didn't mean that. Maybe he's just suggesting that I call him if I need an extra hand to help save other people. That's not a bad idea.
"Fine," I shrugged as he and the Father smirked at me.
"Come for Communion every now and then, C. It may do you a bit of good," The Father smiled at me, but he raised his hands at me when I tried to hand him back the sword. "Keep it. You have earned the right to wield it, despite what you think of yourself."
"And if he should show up for you," Helsing said and I narrowed my eyes in annoyance. "Please call me. Don't deal with him on your own."
"I can take care of myself, Helsing," I growled and placed my hands on my hips. "IF he does find out I'm here then I'll do to him what I did to that Demon! Probably worse!"
"I have no doubt," Helsing said and then started for the car he rented. "I'll see you soon. If not, latter."
"Ya. Stay out of trouble, Van Helsing!" I shouted as he hopped into his car. "I don't want to have to come and pull your butt out of a hole!"
He smiled and tipped his hat at me then started the engine and drove off. Though he was leaving, I had a funny feeling to go and see him off. Turning to the Father, he nodded at me to go and follow him. I smiled, said good night and ran to the nearest roof top to jump and follow Helsing's car all the way to the airport. Well, I had to make sure he was right about the Followers going into hiding! For all I know, even though they couldn't harm me, they can still go after Helsing!
But after an hour of following him and the quarter moon rising behind me, his drive was peaceful as he pulled up into the nearly empty runway. One plane was waiting for him and it bore the symbol of the Vatican. I watched from afar on a roof top as Van Helsing pulled out his bag and flung it over his shoulders and started for the plane. But before he could enter the plane, he seemed to sense my presents and turned around to see me on the roof. We stared into each other's eyes for a moment before I realized a silent understanding had been passed between us.
I was going to say something through our mind connection, but the sound of sirens stopped me. I turned around to find out where the cause was and wondered if I should go and see what I could do to help. When I turned to face Helsing again, he must have seen what had caught my attention. He then smiled and nodded his head at me; giving me permission.
I smirked, showing my fangs. As if I needed his permission anyway! But, I waved at him nonetheless and turned around to race towards the disturbance. For something tells me, I was gonna be needed for this one! Alive or undead! I was going to stick around for as long as I can! And no Demon or Hunter is going to change that!
Hello everyone! I am so glad I got this chapter done! I've been waiting to finish this chapter but I've had a lot of distractions! Now I can get onto the really important ones! Don't worry! You'll see what I have up my sleeve once I'm done typing it out! : D
