Author's Note: I wasn't going to add anymore chapters, but after rereading this fanfic, I thought it deserved a better, more explanatory ending.
Darla soon recovered from her injuries. Darla continued to be Russel's girlfriend. Darla felt more secure and safe around Russel. She continued to work at the mall, with her old job of serving mini-pretzel samples to passing customers. Once in awhile, she thought she saw Robbi... but it turned out it was only the fear and scarring from her traumatic kidnapping.
Darla met the Gorillaz, and soon became friends and even part of the family. Even though Darla decided to continue living in her shabby apartment, she often visited the Gorillaz, soon they got used to her and enjoyed her presence. She never told them all that had happened when Robbi had kidnapped her, but they didn't pry. Russel was the only one who saw through Darla's sweet southern bell mask, and saw how hurt she had been from Robbi. How she was still trying to recover.
Darla had recovered physically but not mentally. The emotional damage was still there, even if it was slowly fading. Darla would often wake up screaming in the middle of the night from nightmares of the kidnapping. Of Robbi and all of his abuse... A couple times Darla had done this when Russel was with her. It scared the shit out of Russel, but he always comforted her, reassuring her that he was here and he would never let anything happen to her.
Russel had told Darla many times that he wanted her to move in with them, but Darla always refused. Russel wasn't fazed by this though, he knew that their house was cramped, all of Gorillaz lived together. They were a band, but not only that, they were family. And family meant sticking together. Russel dreamed of getting a bigger house, that way Darla could move in with them. After saving Darla, Del hadn't returned to Russel. Russel still knew Del was watching over him though, and he appreciated his ghostly friend.
Russel truly did love Darla, and Darla did truly love him back. It was funny though, because their matching was quite surprising. They had some opposite taste. Darla hated hip hop and loved country music. Russel loved hip hop and hated country music. Darla preferred the countryside, and Russel preferred the city. Sure they had opposite tastes, but their personalities were similar. They were both protective, but family-oriented.
2D recovered as well. He retained a small scar on his stomach from the bullet wound. As crazy as this sounds, 2D actually liked seeing the scar. It reminded him of the day he was brave enough to save his girlfriend. It also reminded him that he would die for Jeiel. 2D truly loved her with all of his heart, and he knew this. Jeiel loved 2D with all of her heart as well. Jeiel was also reminded that 2D would die for her, every time she saw the scar. The scar gave her mixed feelings. She was happy that 2D loved her enough to take a bullet for her, but she hated remembering that terrifying day when she thought she would lose him.
Noodle was happy to go back to normal life. She often feared waking up back in Russia, where nobody could understand her. Noodle had thought it was horrible when she was younger and didn't know any English. But the Gorillaz had taught her and had found a way around their language barrier. She now remembered how difficult those times were. This reminder made Noodle proud of how far she had come, how prosperous times were currently.
Murdoc was over-whelmed with new feelings about Jeiel. Murdoc would often bury these feelings with liquor or rum, pretty much anything alcoholic. Once in awhile, he would see Jeiel and his heart would flutter for a second until he had to get a grip and cuss himself in his head to remind himself that his feelings were silly. Soon Murdoc locked these feelings deeply in his mind, although one of these feelings would slip up once in awhile. The kiss however, couldn't be so easily buried. Russel and Noodle wondered of what Murdoc truly thought of Jeiel, but kept it to themselves. Jeiel never acted awkward in front of Murdoc, but would secretly act so in her mind whenever her and Murdoc were alone. Mind you, Jeiel truly loved 2D and felt nothing but friendly, family feelings towards Murdoc. 2D now had a bit of caution around Murdoc, always remembering how things went down with Paula and fearing the same would happen with Jeiel. Once in awhile he would get a bit insecure, but Jeiel always reassured him of how much she loved him.
...
"Don't lie, you need to eat..." 2D had told Jeiel once he had woken up in the hospital after Robbi had shot him. His stomach ached and he felt a tightly wrapped bandage around his abdomen. Jeiel had just bought a granola bar and some water from a vending machine. She desperately just wanted to get back to 2D as fast as she could. She returned to 2D's hospital bedroom with a granola bar and a water bottle in her hands. Russel had already left. 2D greeted Jeiel with loving eyes by soon looked at her with concern.
"You need to eat more than that, love." 2D said gesturing to the granola bar Jeiel was chewing on. Jeiel then set the water down onto the floor.
"I will later, I just wanted to see you." Jeiel responded as she walked over to 2D, holding his hand affectionately with her free hand. 2D smiled, then gulped. He began feeling a bit insecure about Murdoc kissing Jeiel.
"Jeiel... do you love me?" 2D asked hesitantly.
"Of course I love you! Why would you even question that?" Jeiel asked bewildered.
"Murdoc kissed you...did you feel any'fing? Please be honest 'ta me." 2D asked with some insecurity.
Jeiel softened her gaze then replied, "2D he kissed me, and I pulled back instantly. I felt nothing. I feel nothing even remotely close to romantic feelings about Murdoc. I desperately wish he hadn't done that, and if I had known he was going to, I would have probably jumped out of the car seconds before he did it!" Jeiel said with some humor.
2D smiled and chuckled a bit, but winced in pain from his sore stomach. Jeiel looked at 2D with sadness at his pain. Jeiel gently bent down to 2D.
"I promise you, that it's you, that I am in love with. I fucking love you, dip shit!" Jeiel whispered in 2D's ears. He smiled at this, finally feeling reassured. Soon Jeiel began to kiss 2D, making sure not to hurt him. After the two parted, Jeiel left 2D to rest and headed out of the room for some better food.
As Jeiel exited the room, she instantly knocked into Murdoc who was outside the door. Jeiel stood awkwardly, not really sure what to say to him. Murdoc rubbed the back of his neck with embarrassment at Jeiel's awkwardness.
"Look, maybe we should have a talk?" Murdoc suggested. Jeiel nodded. Jeiel and Murdoc walked down the hall and sat at a bench. They both sat in silence for a couple seconds, trying to collect their thoughts.
"What was that?" Jeiel finally broke the silence.
Murdoc knew what she was asking, but still asked, "Wot?" Jeiel looked up at Murdoc, making eye contact.
"The kiss." She said with complete seriousness.
Murdoc sighed then answered, "I'm a womanizer, what do 'ya expect? I just lost my mind for a couple 'o secs and kissed you. Just a spur of the moment, meant nothing, love." Murdoc lied.
Jeiel couldn't tell if he was lying or telling the truth, so she said, a bit harshly, "Well I hope you realize that I love 2D, and felt nothing in that kiss." Jeiel said truthfully. Murdoc's expression was blank, but in his mind, it felt like Jeiel had slapped him in the face.
"I felt nothin' as well, mate." Murdoc lied, not feeling comfortable about calling Jeiel "love", anymore.
After that, Murdoc left abruptly. Jeiel felt relief at the benevolent deception that Murdoc had told her; that he hadn't felt anything about the kiss.
That same day...
A light haired man with a tall stature began to get up from the floor, he'd been recently thrown at a wall. His injuries caused him to groan in pain as he moved his stiff muscles. Sure he would probably need to got to the hospital, but he had other things on his mind now. The man glanced around the room and noticed his gun scattered on the floor, broken in half. Anger began to shroud the man's mind so intensely that he only smiled as he plotted his revenge. He grabbed his phone from his pocket, it was broken and cracked.
"Sure, I'm stranded in Russia, and sure, I'm weak, but I know that I will heal eventually. And when I do... watch out Darla, because the name 'Robbi', will not be forgotten!" The man chuckled to himself and began staggering out of the room...
