A/N- I'm back from the dead! (Just kidding) It's good to be back, but sadly this will be one of the final chapters in Tears Love J Morg. (BRB SOBBING) but I feel that it's the end of the road for this story. So I hope you savor these last few chapters. Love you guys. Please R&R! (Yes the title is taken from Fleetwood Mac's Gold Dust Woman. Stevie is queen.)

Chapter 16 – Follow those who pale in your shadow
Sapphire's POV
She was born at 2:00 am. Veronica (Ronnie) Morgenstern who was named after a mother that never really was. Who was born of a mother that would always be.
The pain had been out of the world. Jonathan and Helen's hands had been partially broken. Swears had been thrown and raven black hair was soaked in sweat. In the end she had come out perfect. White hair that reminded me of snow curled around her perfect head. Soft eyes reminded me of home. She was perfect, so perfect, and she was mine. Holding onto something so beautiful made me feel guilty. A girl born into such a sinful world, how could I carry that burden?
My heart broke at the way Jonathan had with her. He would calm her instantly, with such gentle words of promises. Words I didn't have, he did. Helen and Aline held her tightly, protective and strong. I trusted Helen to keep my daughter safe, even when I couldn't. Somehow, I knew she would.
Five years later.
It was her birthday. Five years had been spent loving every molecule in her tiny body. Her heart was big, and she was strong. Jonathan tossed her in the air, laughing at her giggles. I washed icing off a kitchen knife. Presents and gift wrapping scattered our tiny house. Things had changed, we had grown up. "Mommy!" she squealed, her long white hair billowed around her. I caught the plastic princess tiara she was wearing that had fallen off when Jonathan spun her as he set her down.
I walked towards the both of them, lightly putting the crown on Veronica and throwing Jonathan a quick kiss before getting the mail. Birthday cards from the Blackthorn kids came, and then one manila envelope came, standing out from the rest. I walked inside, giving Ronnie her cards and grabbing an envelope opener to unravel the mysterious card. Jonathan sat next to me, his arms around me and his hair tousled lazily. "What's that?" he asked. I nodded me head to silence him, not knowing myself.
Then I read it.
My dearest Jonathan and Sapphire,
You are probably wondering who this may be. Well I guess you'll find that at the end. You see I heard about your lovely little girl, Veronica is her name? It does seem I haven't met her yet, but I'm not asking for an invitation to tea. Quite the opposite actually. I'm offering a peace treaty for us. Last time I saw you both, it was rather unpleasant. I left quite hurt actually. I hope I won't this time. Let me rephrase that
I better not.
Yours as always,
Valentine Morgenstern
